Obviously no two pairs of feet are alike, but I'm hoping others can learn from my experience, which is that it's far better to buy shoes that are slightly big than slightly small, at least if you have wide feet. I usually wear an 11 but ordered these in a 10.5 as recommended by Danner on their product page for these, which states, "Please note the South Rim 600 fits slightly large and we recommend sizing down a half size for best fit." Out of the box, the 10.5 seemed to fit fine, which is to say they passed the highly unscientific "walk around the living room" test with flying colors. Encouraged, I wore them to work the next day and they felt fine until I got on the train after work and it felt like someone was slowly tightening a vise on my tarsals. It hurt so bad I almost had to take them off on the train, but I didn't want to look like a crazy person so I endured.
I ordered another pair in 11 and the pain hasn't returned. I definitely do not recommend sizing down to my wide-footed brothers. If you have narrow feet, you might fare better. Let me know?
Sizing woes aside, how are the shoes? In a word, comfy. But if you buy these wanting or expecting boots, prepare to be sorely disappointed. These are sneakers in a superficial hiking boot style. They have basically 0 support for ankle or arch, and walking around in them feels more like walking around in slippers than anything else. They're very plush thanks to the soft materials used in the insole and midsole. If you like cushion rather than support, you'll like these, but I wouldn't hike in them for fear of feeling every pebble underfoot and/or rolling an ankle.
As a retro fashion statement, though, they're great, and I freely admit that I bought them for their style and not their performance. If you're in the same boat (looking to burnish your 1970s hiker style), these are pretty sweet. If you want a proper hiking boot, these don't cut it.

I own three other pairs of Danner boots, all size 11 and all fit perfectly. So I purchased these in 11 and they are roughly 1/2 an inch longer than the other pairs. They're also slightly wider. Will send back and try a 1/2 size down.

If you check Danner's website, they actually advise ordering these a half size smaller than your normal shoe size. So for me 10.5 (normally an 11) was a perfect fit.

Ran a little long. Had to reorder to get correct length. I suggest ordering a 1/2 smaller.

I got these for my girlfriend for working on a farm. She loves them and wears them every day. They have a good amount of support (including ankle support) and are lighter and easier to move in than many farm boots.

I have put quite a few miles on these boots now, and I think they were a very good purchase. The fit suits my feet well (adequate room for my toes) and the boots breathe well. These boots are NOT waterproof, which was a key selling point for me. I cannot stand waterproof boots - my feet sweat so bad in them that it defeats the purpose of waterproofing. I would purchase these boots again.

Availability of a 7.5 size would have been helpful.
All customer servicing, order status updates, and delivery information was excellent.
