I've run in Altras since the Samson and Superiors. The wide toe box and generous fit has always worked numerous times over for my flinstone feet. Over the years altras have gone through some strange iterations, bulky heel cups, low toe box, and at one point there was no offering of a minimal style shoe. Altra nailed it with the Solstice. After a short break in they mold to your feet and the ground feel is perfect. I've used these for over three months now on road, trail, and golf course grass. If Altra intends on updating this shoe the only change I would ask for is more "tread pods" similar to the One 2.0 or at least the anterior portion leading from the heel to the mid foot and then on the big toe area. Please don't discontinue this shoe or wreck a truly great thing.

Got these in early May. I rotated them into my running routine. Quickly these shoes became my go to shoe for EVERYTHING. I have run up to 92 miles a week in nothing but the Soltice, with the longest runs being 18 miles. I don't even have a blister to show for it. These shoes mesh well with my feet. I have no complaints, And I will be very disappointed if Altra discontinues this shoe any time soon.

I had trouble with Altra road shoes fit in the past so I stuck with Superior 2.0 Trail shoe for my road running. That worked great, but then I tried the Solstice. I love them! Much lighter than my trail shoes (though I still love the Superior), super comfy, everything I wanted really. Thanks Altra! I'll be back for more soon! p.s. I went up half a size from the Superior to get the right fit with the Solstice. You might try that if you're in a similar spot.

315 miles in on an average 30-35 miles per week and very satisfied. I drag my heels on the upswing and these soles have held up far better than my previous four Instincts. I have gone as far as 15 and have not been disappointed. I was leery of the price point and presumed glue construction but all is well and no toe holes either.

This shoe just arrived today and i took it for a test run right away. Great shoe and I'm very pleased with over all performance and looks. The only complaint I have is that the sole is to spongy/ squishy. I would've liked something a little bit firmer. Does ALTRA make a similar shoe with a firmer sole?

I wish I had found these shoes earlier. They do take a little time to get used to, for me at least. my toes are no longer scrunched all up together and they no longer hurt after I take my shoes off.

After putting 130 miles on the Solstice, I can say I really this is my favorite Altra shoe to date. I have run in every version of the One and this seems to be a hybrid One. It looks fresh and feels responsive when running on the road. I like the weight of this shoe and the price point is something you can't beat. The uppers and lacing very comfortable on my runs that are +14 miles and I've had no minor injuries since transitioning to this shoe. Time to lace up and turn 'n burn!

Wonderfully light with a sock like fit. Shoe runs slightly long from normal Altra sizing. Cushion is responsive and comfortable. I could not be happier with the comfort of this shoe, especially at its price point.

This is a low-to-the-ground responsive shoe, somewhere between the Hoka Hupana and original Vazee Pace. You will definitely want to SIZE DOWN. The Torin 2.5 and Superior 3.0 are a perfect fit for me in size 10, but I was swimming in the Solstice at size 10. A 9.5 works perfectly, especially since I want a little more snugness in a performance shoe. The ride is firmer than the Escalante and even the original The One. It's nice to see Altra going back to its minimalist roots. I'm not a big fan of the laces. They were insanely long in the size 10, even using the extra eyelets. Using the extra eyelets in the 9.5 is just right. The laces on the Superior 3.0 are my favorites, but maybe they wouldn't work with this upper.

In my view this is redemption for the One V3. It reminds me in some ways of the original lime green One. Same stack height as the One's and about same weight. Love the feel and the fit - all around very happy so far. Optimistic they will hold up for 25-30 mile weeks. For a true throwback bring out a limited edition pair in the original Lime Green!!

Altra has had some ugly shoes in the past but over the years has come out better and better. I love their footshape but have really wanted a more low-cut, tighter midfoot feel for a casual/athletic look. The escalante has been close but for tight jeans and joggers this shoe is the best. Its comfy, great for the gym and looks awesome. I have done a few shorter runs on the treadmill and outside (sub 3 miles) and its great but just awesome for all things. I will be getting all colors and hope they come out with more!

I bought the Solstice (Lime) to get a lighter shoe. I fell in Love with the Altra Lone Peak 4, and the Torin 4, and was hoping to use the Solstice as a race shoe. However, the show looked narrow when I pulled them out of the box. And, when I put them on, they felt a size too small in the width. The length, was fine. I had to return them, but I'm still hoping to find a lighter Altra road shoe.

I recently went back to longer distances and I signed up for another marathon. My pet shoe brand was letting me down with cramping moving around to different parts of my foot. I have several sections of my run on grass so I started kicking off my shoes and socks for several miles and loved the experience. My feet felt much better but there wasn't ready to hit the street and sidewalk barefoot. I tried on several brands shoes but I decided to try these. My feet feel great and I believe my stride is improving. They are very much barefoot with some protection. I do have some problems with wet conditions, like heavy dew, allowing the insole slip around and bunch side to side on uneven ground. I'm also a little apprehensive about running on such a thin sole and inner sole on pavement for the full 26. But, so far with several runs in the teens, no issues. Long term affects are unknown.

I really like Altra shoes, but I have always had trouble getting the correct size with Altra. I have three different shoes from Altra and they are all different sizes ranging from 11.5 to 10. For me these run a half size smaller than shoes from other brands. With that being said, these are extremely comfortable.

First off, I have wide feet, I tend to have to buy a size up with the altra road shoes -for the solstice I didn't for some reason especially after reading the reviews. They do have a tight fit in the center of the foot, which I actually really enjoyed comparing other altra shoes as this helps keeps my foot in place and not move as much because of the standard looser heal fit. I did hill repeats in them and this is the first road pair that felt comfortable the entire time for me. They're very light and have a great spring. The only con to me is the lighter material may lead to a quicker wear out.

Took some getting used to the soft, unstructured uppers on these - very sock like, to the point you could tell I was wearing my correcttoes just by looking at the shoe. I also agree with a previous complaint on the laces. Oddly they will come undone too easily, yet do not move through the lace holes easily, making the shoe hard to put on and take off. Loved the fit otherwise, and thrilled to find a 12.5 instead of settling for a 13. -More please!

I bought a pair of these for my son last year and he loved them. He's really, really hard on clothes and shoes, but they lasted almost an entire year before a hole developed in one of the soles. I've been wearing these for about a week. I've worn them around on a workday, taken three or four 30-minute walks, and gone on one run. They've been great in all circumstances. I wear Vivobarefoot shoes when I'm not exercising, so I'm used to very light shoes. The Solstices felt great on walks and runs and never felt too heavy for me.
I'd also recommend:

Love the product, it still has a roomie toebox. The only downside is that the toebox isn't wide enough to fit my correct toes. And I have a foot problem that requires me to wear correct toes when I work out all the time. But other than working out I do just wear them around work in on walks without correct toes.

Considering the width of the toe box, the shoe seems a little tight mid-foot. Overall fairly comfortable

I wear a size 9.5-10 on the Brannock Device, and I order a size 11 in Altra. They run small for me as does other brands like Brooks and On-Cloud. Anyways, these shoes are shaped perfectly for me, but I have a problem with the insoles always creeping out. I glued my right insole in, and that took care of my problem, but now, my left insole is creeping out. I've had my shoes for 7 months, so instead of gluing that one in, I'll just get a brand-new pair of different shoes.

I gave these shoes a try after finding them at a sale in a local store. I love the zero drop and wide toe box. Wearing them has made my knees and body feel better than a shoe with a heel. I normally wear and 11 but have 11.5 in these. It's great for every day use though I feel they don't have quite enough cushioning for longer runs. But for light running and wearing around they are great. The negatives so far are that the laces that won't stay tied and the logo is already starting to fray after a couple months of light use. The laces really are terrible and come undone almost immediately unless I double knot them. Also the hard top of the lace( I'm not sure what to call.it) fell off after a month. If you were wanting to run long distance the laces and would be really frustrating. Overall, they are very comfortable shoe and the concept is great concept but Altra could make this a fantastic shoe by attending to some of the finer details in the quality of laces and craftsmanship of the shoe.

I bought these with the intention of using them as a trainer, but coming off of a foot injury, the sole was a bit too thin for me to put long runs in on them. However, I started racing in them and the stiff yet bouncy foam soles are excellent. If this was marketed as a racing flat I would've given the extra star in the review.

I like this shoe very much. However, as an older runner, I need more cushioning for long runs. I limit this shoe to 10K or less. The inner liner came loose and slides to the heel.

Tried this shoe on at a store the other day with high hopes. My initial impression was great! Super lightweight, nice locked-in feel from the heel to the mid foot which I love, and it looks pretty sweet! After testing them out on a hard concrete smooth floor, however, I noticed the shoe has terrible grip. The sole is all synthetic material which is great for keeping the shoe super light. I just like the grip that you get with rubber on the bottom. If they put a layer of rubber on them like the Escalante has, I would have bought these without question. But the rubber would probably add extra weight so I understand why they don't. Plus, it's meant for running on normal paved surfaces so the rubber isn't necessary if you are strictly running on the road. Any other surface you try it on will bring risk of slipping. I hope in the future they add rubber to the sole for some good grip. Then I'd be all over these!
