I had a pair of these back in the day before they were discontinued. They are a perfect day hiker--lightweight and breathable while offering sufficient support so your feet and ankles don't take too much of a beating. I recommend them without reservation. I took away one star for style (which really doesn't matter to me) because they only offer one color and it isn't even a neutral color. If the most important aspect of your decision making is how the boots will perform, then these are for you. I should note that I also have a pair of Italian all leather hiking boots with a stitched sole and gusseted tongue that are more of a mountaineering boot--I wear those on any mountain that crests the treeline when carrying weight. That is to say: I would not trust these boots to protect against ankle-rolling on boulders while carrying a 20+lbs pack.

I looked at dozens and dozens of hiking shoes before landing on these. They wear like a sneaker but have the support of a hiking shoe. I have a very high arch and I knew upon putting them on that I would need to pop an insole in them. They don't have arch support really at all. But that's workable. They are very lightweight and Im excited to see what they can do on the trails.
