I love the style of the boots, but circumference of the shaft seems wider than what's on the description. It was too loose around my legs. Will be returning.

Can't say enough about these classically styled boots. Just the right height so I can wear all day, color just deep enough brown to coordinate with everything. Have already worn repeatedly. Will be a mainstay in my closet for years.

Beautiful, well-made boot. Loved it, but had to return after trying it on. Foot fit perfectly, but shaft was much wider than expected. It just looked silly on me (5'5'' and 125 lbs)

Love the look and height. Seems like you could be in them all day without problem Leather is good quality. I am 4'11". The 5 fit me in the foot, but the shaft is too long. It goes up into the back of my knee and hits me as I walk. Sad to have to return these.

Almost perfect. Going to try a 7 wide when I normally wear a 7 narrow! Love the soft leather but wonder how well it will hold up over time. I'm still wearing a pair of Trotter dress boots I bought in the early 1980s!

After reading some of the reviews I was concerned that the calf might be too wide. When I tried them on, they fit perfectly. They weren't too loose or to tight.

I love this boot! Very comfortable, easy on the foot at work. My only critique is that I'm 5' 2" and the height of the boot is noticed when sitting in a conventional chair where the back of the boot hits my thigh. Could be a problem if riding on a busy subway or bus, but not noticeable in standard business chairs or driving. Lovely dark brown color.

This is a beautiful boot, rich brown, fit beautifully on my foot. Like so many boots made today (even those that are not designed to be wide, the calf is too wide on me and too high at the bend of my knee. I am 5'3" and 125 lb with a muscular but not wide calf ... I continue my search for dressy boots with less than 15" calf circumference.

Disappointing! Too loose in the calf. Ten years ago I bought RL boots in black and they are SHOE ROYALTY. When I was ready for brown ones, I loved the timeless style of these. I looked like a swashbuckling pirate!

Have to return....while they barely fit around my calf, it is so tight, the ankle portion of the boot looks baggy instead of form fitting and sexy. Plenty of toes room, but felt tight across the widest part of my toes.

Incredibly stylish boots. I was looking for a new pair of boots to wear to work. These were perfect ...except for the size of the calf. The boot feels great at the top but there is a ton of extra room at the back of my leg. It’s actually really odd. While the boots don’t look bad, I would prefer to have a more fitted pair. Alas, back they go.

The boot is beautiful but too long. If you are under 5' you will not be able to bend your leg to sit or go up stairs.

Unfortunately everyone posting about the wide shaft was correct. I have very athletic calves and the shaft did not hug my legs. Instead there was about an inch gap between my leg and the shaft. Other than that it's beautiful boot!

These are adorable but they arrived with scratches and blemishes. To my astonishment Zappos' policy with respect to exchanges is that if the replacement is unsatisfactory - e.g., you simply change your mind - you are stuck with a credit as opposed to a full refund. Don't understand at all the wisdom of this policy. The consumer is inconvenienced by having to exchange the originally defective merchandise in the first place and should not be further penalized by getting stuck with a merchandise gift certificate. I will definitely think twice about Zappos in the future

Very disappointed - normally I love Ralph Lauren anything, and these books look so pretty. The calf is hugely wide, like I have wide calves (can't even wear Frye because my calves are too big) and these looked like hip waders or something on me, plus as another reviewer said if you are short, the backs hit the back of your knee in a most uncomfortable way. They look sort of cheap and are not comfortable at all!
