I'd really love it if Pikolinos came in the --.5 sizes, but, alas, they don't make them. So it's always a toss-up between 39 which is sometimes a tad short in the toe, or a 40, which requires gel inserts to not slip around. For this style, the 39 was just right for my US 9 feet. The only caveat about "comfort" is the little tab holding the elastic around the back of the heel makes it necessary to wear stockings or expect blisters within minutes, and for pants, I'd like the option of bare legs.

These are the most unique, yet comfortable shoes I've ever worn. The minute I put them on, I knew I would be their owner! They are also very cute on my big feet; which, is nearly as important as the way they fit!

These are darling shoes, which have it all: style and comfort. I usually wear a narrow shoe, but I have found that the European sizes are narrower than American-made shoes. That may be why some folks with less narrow feet have found the straps to be binding. On my foot they don't hurt at all, but just stabilize. I wear a 10 1/2 and bought a size 41; they are just barely long enough. If you are between two sizes, I would recommend the larger.

Amazingly comfortable out of the box - and that’s hard to say as a 10.5 narrow. Highly recommend.

These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever put on- they feel like they are hand-tailored for my feet! I was skeptical that I was even going to keep them, but as soon as I opened the box, it was love at first sight. A very high quality shoe, graceful and unique.

I love the look of these shoes and they are mostly really comfortable. BUT, the elastic criss-cross part is a little too tight. I have pretty significant indentations in my feet by the end of the day. For reference, I do have a 'meatier' top of foot so it might just be me. Otherwise they were wide enough, no other pain points, leather is soft and they are really cute. So, I'm living with the indents and hoping the elastic loosens up over time (I did stuff them with socks to try and stretch it out, but this was only moderately successful).

These are a beautiful shoe with a lot of cushion. They fit exactly as expected. However, the elastics on the top which keep the shoe on began to cut in - I work at a standing desk all day and I doubt that I could take those cutting into my foot all day. Really bummed as the style and color were beautiful!

I was so excited about these super cute shoes but they just weren't comfortable for me. The elastic was too tight and left marks on my feet after only 2ish minutes. My big toe hit the squared off front of the shoe in a way I could tell would be problematic (the shoes were shorter in lenght than I expected, size 40 pikolinos generally fit me quite well). Also, the back of the shoe was tall enough that it hit me right where I bend when I point my toe, and I could tell it would be uncomfortable there too. These sadly are not for me and are going back.

I loved the shoes, but the back came too high up on my heel, and it just was not comfortable, even for a few minutes.

So disappointed- loved the style and the comfort of the foot bed. I am a harpist and these were perfect "work" shoes. I have an very average arch, but the elastic cut into the top of my foot causing my feet to become a little numb after only a one hour practice session.

Loved it but retuned, just not my style.

These shoes are beautiful and very comfortable. I am a US 9 and the 39s were too small. I just re-ordered the 40s.

lovely shoes but I bought 2 pair in different colors, and found that when I wore them, the criss cross elastic bit into my foot at the end of the day if my feet were a bit puffy. since these were VERY expensive, I decided to return the second pair. if your feet tend to puff at the end of the work day, you might be sad with these.

These are cute in the way Pikolinos are always cute, but they were sized a little small. I have two other pair of Pikolinos--a shoe and a boot--sized 41 that fit like they were made for me, but this one did not. Other than that, this is a beautiful shoe and I'm sad to return.

These adorable shoes are better than flats. The little straps hold them on, there's a little bit of a heel, arch support is great. Soft leather forms to your foot. Since my feet have widened the little square toe is perfect for me. With the brown trim on black it is definitely a look not everyone will have in their little black flat. I put them on after work and I don't want to take them off until bedtime. They feel like slippers. The European size 37 works best for me because an American 6.5 is small and 7 too loose.

Overall I love Pikolinos shoes. This is a shoe I really wanted to love. Overall I like the style but there is a small tab of leather that is raised on the back heel and I could feel it rubbing in to my foot and realized that this could quickly becoming uncomfortable and lead to a blister therefore decided to return.

The 39 was a snug fit. I'm a size 9 and the 40 fits perfectly. Lovely shoe.

I loved these shoes and would have tried them in a smaller size if the color variation in the leather wasn’t dirty looking. I was sooo sad! As far as sizing, I’m normally a 7.5 but the 38 was too long. The bungee cord laces/ties didn’t bother me but I have no clue how they’d hold up.

Nice looking shoe but much too flimsy for anyone who needs support. The elastic straps aren't strong enough to really hold the foot securely. And the leather is quite soft around the sides of the shoe, letting the foot slide sideways. It seemed a tad short, but probably would have fit well enough if I had wanted to keep it.

I had to order another pair 1 size down. I like the style, the workmanship and quality, but the tab holding the lacing in the back, (over my heel) was digging into my achilles tendon. I love Pikolinos, and bought another style.

I LOVED these shoes and would have tried them in a smaller size if the coloring of the leather in the main portion of the shoe were different. Btw I got them in the brown color. It seems like so many companies are designing with this trend of discoloration of the leather in mind. Personally, I don’t like it and I didn’t notice that this was part of the design until I saw them in person.. at least I think it’s part of the design.?. Anyhow the transition with the darkening of the color just made it look dirty (the whole point, maybe?) but not in an ironically aesthetically pleasing kind of way. And it wasn’t on the toes. I was sooo sad because the design is awesome otherwise. Also I was expecting them to be too small and they were too big. I’ve gained weight and it makes me lean toward an 8 instead of a 7.5, and oddly enough these were a bit too long. Loose- but not in the width. I obviously wasn’t wearing them for long but the bungee cord type laces/ties didn’t bother me.

Thought they would be funky cool. Instead they just seemed strange. Good quality, just not for me.

They look and feel like medieval torture devices. Okay, that’s a bit dramatic. These just won’t work for me.
