It’s the best backpack I’ve ever owned. Perfect size and so durable.

I've had the Porter 65 for 4+ years and it has excelled as a travel backpack. It's seen regular use as my suitcase for business travel around the U.S. On vacation, it's successfully accompanied me/us (my wife has one too) on extended trips around 4 continents. While there were a couple of 5 Star vacations, most was adventure travel.
I wouldn't want to hike the AP with it (it's too big and the back panel could breath better) but if you are looking to vacation in the Midwest or backpack across the Middle East, you should give it a serious look.

I have had this bag for a few years now and absolutely love it. It is my go to for international travel (elevators are not as common in many other countries so a roller bag just doesn't cut it). It's easy to pack and I'm always amazed at just how much I can fit into this bag. Shoulder straps are super comfortable. At the airport heading out for my last trip I was readjusting the compression straps on the outside and the plastic on the pull through snapped (it flew up in my face & luckily did not hit my eye). Anyways, I contacted Osprey when I got back from my trip and they are repairing it for free. A company that stands behind their products like that is uncommon anymore, so know if you buy this bag and have any problems they will fix it.

After buying one I loved it so much and bought another to store camping gear at home. I own the gray and teal, both look good but I like the gray with electric lime insides better. You've gotta see this organizer front pocket!
There's so many uses for this pack/gear bag/duffle/travel bag, whatever you want to call it. My first time using it was to pack all my camping gear for my epic trip summiting Mt. Katahdin at the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. (Wore a Osprey Manta 20 AG for the hike) I packed the Porter with a one person and a three person tent (poles, rain fly and footprints as well), 1100ml cook system, go pro, headlight, flashlights, phone, backup battery, clothes for three days, trail shoes, three lbs of food, rain jacket, wind breaker, toiletries, 10 total AA and AAA batteries. Inside it could still fit more too!! Outside I strapped a small collapsible table under the compression straps. My pack was REALLY heavy but once on, it carried very well and comfortable for 1/8 mile I wore it. I've been using for week long travel since. Perfect size to carry everything for a week. I'm a guy who doesn't need a ton but likes to be prepared for whatever.
Pros:
-Daylite bags lash to the front securely
-separate shoe pocket on bottom
-large front organizer pocket
-thick stowaway shoulder, sternum and hip straps
-tie downs in main compartment
-full length side zip pocket in main
-two kinda hidden flat pockets on back
-compression straps
No cons
Highly recommended!

It is all I need! I carry-on only and this thing makes it easy for trips up to a week, even business. If I'm trekking, I'm good with it for 5 nights as well. It just swallows everything. The technical straps ease the burden on long hikes but I almost never need them.
If you need a versatile, tough pack, this is it!

recently went on a 28 day trip throughout 8 different cities in europe and carried this pack and i cannot express enough how perfect it is. it's extremely comfortable to carry, even packed to capacity. the pockets are bountiful and in the most useful spots- the top pocket exclusive to this size bag was so clutch! it rained often during our journey and this bag kept everything inside dry, without a rain fly or liner (although if you are going to be outside for hours at a time while it's down pouring, i'd suggest a liner just to be safe!). i was able to pack everything i needed with such ease, and carry it from place to place without any trouble. the front loading aspect of the bag makes packing / unpacking a sinch. it's super durable yet light as a feather- a really useful combination for travel. don't think i'll ever use a bulky, heavy, rolling suitcase again. honestly, i love this bag so much i'm going to invest in a 45L porter as soon as i can& ditch my carry on size dufflebag i use for short trips. highly HIGHLY recommend this perfect as hell pack.

I purchased this bag bc of the good reviews, features, and capacity. On my very first trip down south, within a days walk, i felt it riding and rubbing my lower back. The shoulder straps are attached to the hip belt; thats not secured to the bag but in a compartment that allows it to ride up into your back! After about 5 days later, my back was sore and in pain. My first trip with the bag was only a week long but it was enough as i could not handle carrying this bag around any longer.
I immediately emailed Osprey about my huge discontent and asked if there was anything i can do including paying the difference for a different bag since i will not use this for any further travels.
It has been a couple of weeks and 3 emails later that still have yet to hear back from Osprey. I will physically call tomorrow in hopes of better luck but if i dont get through and get this issue resolved, ill never recommend or much less advise anyone to purchase extremely expensive bags with a company who provides the service ive experienced.
I am an avid traveler, backpacker, with 7 countries done so far, and more to come. With or without Osprey.
