These boots were a second choce for me, but I'm really happy with them. They cost more than my first choice selection, but promise to be waterproof, which the old ones were not at all. So far they are a decent hiking boot. They are supportive and sturdy and are more waterproof than my older Columbias. It remains to be seen how that holds up in really wet weather. I'm a female but prefer men's hiking boots as they are a bit roomier so its nice this model comes in smaller sizes.

Definitely runs amall(ish)! I wished I had given more credence to a review I read that said the sizing was way off. Instead I trusted Zappos statement that they run true to size. Should have ordered at least a half size above my size. Otherwise I like the look. Hard to assess comfort when the shoe is too small, but they also aren’t as comfortable as other hikers I’ve had.

A great shoe. I am on my fourth pair. The soles wear out quite quickly. I have difficulty finding comfortable, well fitting shoes. These are a home run every time. Unfortunately the lace guide in the middle position has broken. Disappointing.

Great Hiking Boots. I bought these for my son who says they are comfortable and he enjoys hiking in them.

I insisted with this boot on some trails, but they're always unsatisfying. They slip basically on the whole trail, and even on the side walk they are also slippery. On the trail they cause a total insecurity from start to end, and is even risky at certain points, so that I decided to test it only on easy trails. It slips on dry earth, wet earth, dry rock, wet rock... in sum, on everything. My disappointment is so great that would never buy from this brand ever again, I sincerely don't know what to do, because I spent my money in a total waste. Maybe I could use it only to go on Church on Sundays.

I returned the boot as it was small for me and the width not wide enough!

Doesn't fix the proper size, too short. Quality seems to be good but we didn't try it.

These look nice but they aren't a true hiking boot at all. Very poor ankle support. Insole also thin and shifts in the boot as you walk. Only thing that I've found to help is really tighten up the laces. These fit me perfectly but are a cheaply designed boot.

I love these boots. I volunteer as SAR Tech. In the snow, my feet are warm and dry. However, in the rain, not so much. Needs better waterproofing. It may be MY pair only. Here in California, its been a WET year, like NOAH wet! Im in these boots on my days off, and these are my second pair.

Great looking boot. Well designed. Woefully mis-sized. They're labeled 9.5 but are barely 9's. First time I've had this problem with Columbia boots.

I use hiking boots as my daily work boots. I tend to be on my feet 12 hours a day and naturally want to be on my toes. Unfortunately, being on my toes is hard on my knees, so I tend to replace my boots every 60-90 days as the sole near the toes wears down.
I've worn out the soles of many Columbia boots, but never had the chance to wear these boots down before the inner lining, the 'sock' of the shoe, folded on me. I was in damp conditions when this happened and the inner moisture of the shoe must have caused this.
Anyway, after this happened I couldn't wear them again. When I put them on, it feels as if i have a scrunched up sock on one of my feet.. very uncomfortable. I am in the market for a new pair of boots now, which is why I felt it necessary to write a review.

I have a high instep and wide foot. I think it's my issues that made this boot not fit.

These Hiking Boots are well designed and are stylish. However, the Tongue is not designed well and is not stylish because this Tongue has cut-a-way contours. This rendered them to be non-waterproof.

Having used this for the past year its an okay shoe. To start things out, the shoes insoles are horrendous. They are just bad to the point where they feel uncomfortable and cheaply made. In fact I would recommend you if you get these shoes to throw away the included insoles as they provide 0 comfort and hurt your feet after you hike beyond 8 miles. The next con thing about these shoes is the waterproofing. In fact when hiking local mountains like Mt. Baldy, Cucamonga Peak, and other higher peaks, these shoes would do horrible at the most in the snow which would required me to use my other Columbia shoes in order to summit the peak. In fact one thing to note once your shoes become wet in the outer membrane in the front of the shoes they make the shoes heavier. In addition the waterproofing doesn't cover the entirety of the shoe. I guess its for the pros. First pro about these shoes how the rubber is solid and gives a good grip. The next pro is how cushioning besides the insoles are good. Overall these shoes are alright but if your looking about more waterproof then I would avoid this as it really does suffer especially in the waterproofing.
Winter Hiking:
Note: All Crampons will not fit with these. In fact these shoes are not meant with use of crampons they will not work in fact these are flexible shoes not meant for those peaks. I would say they are micro spikes compatible. If you want an Crampons the only ones that will work securely are K10 from Kahtoola and I would recommend getting Columbia Titanium Hiking Shoes, Columbia Newton Ridge as these two products fits well with the K10 and microspikes as my friends used them on their and would fit well. Other than that this shoe is good mainly for the summer not for the winter more or less.
If your looking for summer hiking shoes they are good but if your looking for something for both seasons (Winter/Summer) then avoid this shoe and get the Columbia Terrebonne II Mid Titanium Outdry Extreme Men's Hiking Boot or the Columbia Newton Ridge. As these two products are good for both seasons.

Clunky. They run a half size too small. I ordered wide and they are not wide in the slightest, I would go as far as saying they are more narrow than your standard shoe. I've owned plenty of Columbia boots which have fit well, and held up nicely. These are not so comfortable.

I purchased the wide width boots and they are still very tight on my feet. When walking in them, they make a crinkling noise, like from cellophane.

Sizes run small. I'm a 12, and they just fit. Too lazy to return them and go through the hassle. Next time I'll order 12.5
They are light on my feet, so that's a plus.

I bought a pair of these about 2 years ago and have done mostly day hikes. They work ok for trails and woods, are just a tad small in the toes so had a few issues but nothing terrible. Then I took them on a 4 day backpack. Believe me, they are so NOT waterproof.
We walked in tall wet grass/foliage and after 10 minutes my feet were swimming. I can't see how Columbia can claim they are waterproof. Will not buy this brand again.

I sought out a good waterproof shoe for some light duty work I am doing outside. The tag on the show said Guaranteed Waterproof. Maybe there is fine print but i can't even walk through my yard when the grass is wet now. I've worn them 22 times and if the grass is wet I can count on wet socks and shoes for the rest of the day. They are comfortable shoes and the soles are wearing quickly so all in all the lack of water proofing (or lack there of) is what sits poorly for me. I cannot recommend this product.

I purchased these around 8 months ago. I use them for kayak fishing. The only time they see water is if there isn't a dock to step off on to. They worked fine for the 2 or 3 months I wore them over winter last season. I took them out for the first trip yesterday during a tournament and stepped in the water (only barely above the sole seam) and instantly I could few cold water. It's a little bit of a let down that I only got to use these a total of about 10 times before they began to leak. Other than that, I really like them, but without being waterproof, I don't need them.

Life duration of the shoe 3 to 4 months after use them for few not too agressive hiking.
Not much water contact or heavy weight on it, but they work very well.
