I currently use Altra The One and this shoe fell alot higher off the ground and the sole compound felt alot stiffer. Over not a fan.
I'd also recommend:
Altra

I first purchased the Hupana to strictly use for 5k's, Because the reviews said plenty of cushion and lightweight. Just by looking at the pics I could tell it did not have the cushion like my Clifton or Vanquish, but I figured it may have enough cushion plus responsiveness for 5k's. I used them for 2 5k's and it was like running in an everyday Sneaker. So I just use them for kicking around. They are Black and look good with Jeans. Also the soles burn out fast!..I am 5'9 165.

Runs small, esp. in toe. Order 1/2 size larger.

I really like the ATR's and had hoped these would be an alternative for just running roads. Shoe feels too tight in the toe box even for my narrow foot. Rubs my inside ankles.

Wanted a nice pair of stylish running and walking shoes. Has the looks but not comfortable because of the narrow toe box.

Wife and I bought two pairs each since we can be in between sizes. I have a pair of the original Hoka Cliftons and love them. All the newer Hoka's from that point forward all seem to fit weird and from reviews I am not alone. These shoes have narrow toe boxes yet again and is my biggest complaint with the new Hoka brand. I thought with the knit uppers they would be stretchier and they were rather stiff. They are nothing like other brands knit uppers. Second problem was sizing. I bought a 12 and 12.5. They were identical! They were marked correctly on the tongue but overall length and fit were the same. To make it worse, they were both a 1/2 size too big! The final straw was on my wife's shoe. When they sewed the tongue in they messed up and left about an inch worth of fabric just hanging in the toe box. For shoes that cost this much that is 100% unacceptable. The only reason I gave them 2* vs. 1* is that my shoes were somewhat comfy for just walking around. There is no way I could run farther than a couple miles in them with the tight toe box though. We sent all 4 pairs back and will not buy them again.

As far as looks they are great but if you get the soles wet lookout!! I have slipped and fallen in these shoes more than once from the shoes losing traction due to the poor sole traction when they get wet. After slipping and falling more than once due to just wet sole I finally threw them away and decided to come write a review. Maybe it will save you from the same. Sad that I had to throw them away they were in great shape. But my health is more important. If I could give zero stars I would.

I have been buying Hoka shoes for the past year and love them. I bought a pair of Hupanas for my son, based on positive reviews from customers who walk or run several miles per day. Less than 30 days since he received them, and one sole is practically worn through. While I'm sure there is variability among different models of shoe, no Hoka product should be this bad. I won't recommend the brand again.

Returned because it was way short and way narrow. Couldn't really assess the arch support.

Ordered my sneakers, they did not fit and returned them. Have not heard anything about me receiving a replacement or anything, even though I did the exchange on the co.computer.

I've been trying to find a Hoka shoe I loved as much as the Clifton 2 since it was "improved". This one wasn't it and I returned it. Not to say it wouldn't work on someone else's foot. Why do running shoe companies "fix" shoes that aren't broke?

I order the HOKA HUPANA by phone and they shipped the shoes super fast but once I put the shoes on they felt stiff in the top of the shoe, I didn't even try running in the HUPANA it wasn't for me and returned the shoes immediately and got the HOKA Tracer 2 a much better feeling shoe.

I really wanted a pair of these. The look is exactly what I was going for. I own 4 other pairs of Hoka's and using the sizing chart is usually pretty accurate. So I ordered my regular size, 12.5. They were about 1" too long and they were tight. So I returned them and got a 1/2 size smaller. I couldn't even get my foot into those. Not sure why the sizing is so far off the standard. Wound up going with the Arahi, which I had to exchange for a different size from the original. I do love Hoka's but the sizing issue has to be resolved. Since I was purchasing online, (what I wanted wasn't available locally) It took about 2 months just to get a pair shoes that fit.

Purchased them a few weeks ago and straight out of the box I noticed how narrow they were. The mesh around the toe box is so tight and uncomfortable that 2 miles into my run I began to develop hot spots on my toes. After 5 miles I stopped running as I began to feel blisters. That same day, I placed them back into the box and shipped them out for a return. Extremely disappointed.

I should have read the reviews first, as the narrow toe box is a pretty common complaint. I have several pairs of Hokas and like them all, but these are too uncomfortable.
