I wear the shoes with my arch support daily. I am very disappointed in the quality of the leather, the security on the tongue is too low and the tongue is too short. Mainly the uppers appear to be skimped to save mfg. money.

Very uncomfortable shoes. Arch support not in the right place for my foot. After wearing the shoes for about 30 minutes my feet hurt.

These shoes were too narrow for my feet. I ordered a wide, but they were too big.

Another NB where I had to check the box to be sure I had been sent the right size. Reviewers are saying NB has gotten cheaper and I guess it has. Just a stiff shoe with nothing going for it. I wear 12 N

While the interior of this shoe seemed roomy and flexible, the base seemed too narrow at my arches, and the material didn't provide a sturdy enough side to keep my feet from rolling over. Returning.

I have held on to these shoes for several weeks and have been trying them from time to time to compare them to other New Balance shoes (all of which I needed to return) to see if I could get used to the shoes' stiffness. I had first tried these shoes in size 8B, which is usually the size I wear, but the heel was so narrow and tight that it caused pain, which surprised me because I have a narrow heel. So, I decided to try the 8D. I tried the shoes over a carpeted floor. I cannot imagine using it on a hard sidewalk, when the shoes do not flex, which could cause all sorts of problems. In the last couple of months I have tried a number of New Balance walking shoes, including new versions of old shoes I owned, and none of those shoes fit either. Quite a disappointment. I think it is time to try a different brand.

Walking Strike Path rubber outsole and arch support not holding up. Shoes are not made strong anymore. I will have to look for a sturdier shoe.

I bought this shoe because I was seeking the most supportive sneaker I could find. It is supportive, however the heel is too wide for my heel and slips. The padded tongue is too tight on my ankle and feels as if a razor blade is cutting my ankle. There was visible redness on the front of my ankle when I took off the shoe after trying it on. I tried both the laced and hook and loop styles and had the same problems with both.

Overall the shoe is well made. However, the toe box is too narrow. This is disappointing in that this is a wide width shoe. It makes no sense to construct a wide width show that narrows so much in the toe box area. I returned the shoes.

New Balance needs to spend some $$ on developing a better sole. They're like walking in a banana peel when the sidewalk is wet. They're also quite heavy. I've had about 5 pairs if these over the years. They fit very well and h a very a narrow heel. I had very serious surgery on my left foot in September and I'm a little shy about trying another style. I used to wear NB 847 but my metatarsal arch became too tender to wear the thinner more flexible sole. Good luck with what you buy.

I don’t know why New Balance changed the design of their 928 shoes. I have owned 5 pairs in the past and repeated my purchase for the arch support, roll bar technology, the cushiony insole and leather upper. However, the last pair I purchased the sole was so stiff and hard that my back hurt in less than 30 minutes of wearing them. The was far less arch support than in my previous pairs and the upper material was too stiff. I am really sorry that I kept trying to make them work verse returning them.
I will never own another pair.

Both shoes hurt both feet; there seems to be no support for my metatarsalgia condition and bunions. I tried the shoes with orthotics but noticed that there seems to be wear on the soles already - someone else must have tried their orthotics in this pair of shoes? Having work New Balance for the past couple decades, it was quite disappointing that these shoes did not provide support or comfort as my previous pairs. I will have to try another model of New Balance shoes.

Tongue is too short and too narrow! Slips under laces and can't be pulled out. Also, the heel slips out of shoes. Good support in the soles but terribly designed and uncomfortable everywhere else.

Tongue is way too short and too narrow. Slides under laces and causes lots of pain on top of foot. Heel constantly slips because the shoes are not deep enough. There is great support in the sole, but the short, narrow tongue ruins it. Along with the shallow depth and resulting heel slippage. Can't wear them. New Balance needs to fix these issues.

I bought the original 928 several years ago, and it was well made, cushiony and the leather was soft. This v3 is uncomfortable, the cheap leather upper is very stiff, the soles have no support and no cushion. It feels like I'm walking on cement blocks. I gave it ample time to break in, with no improvement. So disappointed in the decline in quality. Now I have to find another sneaker.

I have worn new balance walking shoe for 20+ years. Since the co. sold the quality has really gone downhill!! They used to be all leather, the shoes are narrower and they are very stiff. It feels like I am standing and walking on 2 board planks. They don't have the cushion or support. It has definitely changed the way I walk and my stride. I am going to look elsewhere for a better quality shoe.

Not sure why, but these are not comfortable. I have worn lots of NB walking sneakers and these are awful. Thought it was a fluke the last few times I wore them, but wore them again today and my feet hurt again. I suggest a different model than these.

The shoes have great arch support and since they are for walking, they have a stiffer sole. I like how the shoes have a gentle rock helping to reduce my plantar fasciitis and heel pain. I love that it comes in a narrow width and would purchase again.

I usually wear an 8.5 wide, which is what I bought, and they fit well. They feel sturdy and have good support too. They are not the most gorgeous shoes on the planet, but I walk about 5 miles a day and got them for that, so they don't need to be gorgeous. I got the 9 wide at the same time knowing I'd return one pair. The 9 wide was too long for my foot.

Well crafted with SL2 -- great for nerve damaged foot with generous toe box and narrow in heel. Support for flat feet.

My first NB in many years. I got fitted and was totally floored (excuse the pun); my foot has changed dramatically in that I went from 6 wide to a 71/2 medium shoe (sneaker). I had to try the 928v3 on several times, they felt tight in the shoe box. So, all sneakers are supposed to be soft and cushy and comfortable, right? Well, I learned a lot about the many shoes I picked out and of those shoes I asked for the best support, med. arch, and a shoe that prevents overpronating. I can’t begin to count how many shoes I tried on, and none of them met any of my requirements (podiatrist requirements). So, I asked the shoe person to pick some for me. It was then that I realized that a good supportive shoe means the bottoms don’t flex like a running shoe, the sides of the shoe are firm and doesn’t allow the foot and heel to slosh around in the shoe. I thought the toe box was tight and could possibly make my pinky toe go numb and cause the top of my instep to become really painful. I had doubts so I decided to trust the young man helping me; I tried this 928v3 again, and again (longer each time) I couldn’t get past the firmness. 10 minutes past closing I tried them on again (and tried some others on in between). I paid close attention to how I walk in them. I wasn’t walking to fit my shoes, I was walking for my shoes to fit me! My entire stride had changed and in that short of time I could feel my ankle supported and my knees and hips that hurt so badly felt less pain… seriously? Yes, most seriously!!! This shoe wasn’t my idea of comfortable but it checked all the boxes for my shoe requirements. I tried them on again (yes again). It was then that I also realized that they were comfortable… toes fit in toe box misunderstanding tight for supported and my need for a heel that fit properly but still had a tiny bit of slide(I always wore clog type shoes).
This shoe is what I wanted but sincerely didn’t know what a well fitted shoe was or felt like. A supportive shoe doesn’t mean just the size of the arch (so I used to think). Don’t misunderstand me, a proper arch completes the support of the shoe. The arches in this shoe I would say are minimal and I plan to swap them out for an insert with a higher arch and padding for the balls of my skin and bone feet.
I can’t compare any of the previous models of this 928v3, I but I have a supportive shoe that helps reduce pain and fatigue from the bottom up. The leather is firm but buttery; and I find all of this intriguing. I am diabetic and need shoes that won’t cause blisters or chafing. I have found a diamond in the rough (30 shoes later). This shoe is well made, I think they will last a very long time!

This motion control shoe made a huge difference in my pain level and my life. After more than a year of suffering lateral foot pain so bad I could hardly walk (collapsed arches, achilles tendonitis, peroneal tendonitis) -- and getting no help from podiatrists, no help from wearing good stability shoes (New Balance 990v5) with good arch supports, my pain continued, getting worse as the day went on each day. I thought I was on my way to being disabled. Finally, I decided to try a motion control shoe (New Balance 928v3) with my Powerstep insoles. The FIRST day, as the day progressed I kept waiting for the pain to start. IT NEVER DID. To test this I put on my former New Balance stability shoes (990v5) for a few hours and ran some errands. The pain returned. Got home, took them off and put the 928 Motion Control shoes back on. NO PAIN. For me, after a year of intense daily suffering, this is a MIRACLE. The only reason I gave this a 4-Star for Comfort is that the tongue is too short and narrow. If the tongue were longer and wider I'd give it a 5. Hopefully when a new version of the 928 comes out, which is overdue, New Balance will fix this tongue issue.
