The ugliest and most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I have many pairs of birkenstocks, all of which are very comfortable, but these are the most comfortable by far. I have plantar fasciitis, and I can walk around in these with zero pain. Unfortunately, these are also the most unsightly of the birkenstocks I own, all of which are unsightly. They don't look so bad in the photos, but in person they sure do. They are the shape of a clown shoe. The leather has this sludgy, oily look to it. I have the dark brown, which is a truly awful color. It creases and scuffs very easily. They're the most comfortable shoes I own, but I rarely wear them because they are so ugly.

Unfortunately, Birkenstock quality continues to decline. This is third pair in as many years that show cost cutting construction shortcuts. In this case and in the case of a pair of boots bought the year before, the soles of these shoes already need to be reglued at the heel. The shoes are made to look like the the soles are sewn on, but are actually affixed with rather weak glue. It's a shame because the Birkenstock footbed rules (unlike in almost all other shoes it's shaped like a foot). For $200, I expect better than fake sewing and weak glue.

Love these shoes. I would give them five stars but the heal is beginning to come loose from the rest of the shoe. This happened on a previous pair that I returned and have been really careful not to stress the heal this time. Not sure how much longer they'll last. Very sad considering their price.
