My podiatrist has ordered me to wear only this Olympus 2.5 (unattractive)sneaker. No more sandals, no more barefoot and no more cowboy boots. Reasons: I have Morton's neuroma and any squeeze in the metatarsal area makes it much worse. I have a very high arch and no pronation. The zero drop and very roomy foot-shape to the shoe makes my foot pain very minimal. I would ask Altra footwear to throw in a free t-shirt with every sneaker ordered that says: "My podiatrist is making me wear this ugly shoe", but my feet feel fantastic. Come to think of it, seems to me that all shoes should be made in the shape of an actual foot. Very important: This sneaker runs a full size small....order up one full size.

I've only worn these shoes for approximately 6 months and the toe area has come unsewn and a small hole (That I assume is going to continue to grow), has developed. Not a 165.00 shoe. The shoe strings are too short and because the in-step is narrow you cannot tighten the strings. The cushiony sole is the best feature. for me it's a must and I like the style, width, and the blue color. Unfortunately I will never buy them again because I can't throw away 165.00 on shoes that are coming apart in less than 6 months. (They actually have been coming unsewed at about the 4-5th month)

I am an altra fan. The zero drop and wide toe box have helped me deal with Morton's neuroma pain.
This particular footwear is meant for trail hiking or trial running. If that is not the intended use I would consider the Altra Torin. Same max cushioning and wide toe box minus the stoneguard bottom. I found this shoe runs a bit larger than my Torins. However it works well for heavier socks that most would wear hiking in a wooded area.
They work for me :)

These come up uncomfortably high under the ankle bone. Very deep in the forefoot too with a lot of wrinkling of fabric. I was looking forward to these being the answer to my search for cushioned trail running shoes. No such luck.

If Alta is truly concerned about proper shoe fit, then I suggest they make an option for C or D width for women's shoes. I have a wide width, and the reviews said there is a roomy toe box, but I need it a slight bit roomier in the heel and toe area.

These shoes are downright ugly. Very boxy. Very chunky. For those of you who don't care, they run true to size if not a 1/2 size larger.

Really loved this shoe! It feels like a true zero drop and I like the way my foot hits the ground and how that affects my knees.
(Style stars are for the dark blue color only. I despair of the color choices in this brand, I really do...)
Note: Review is based on a pair of 9.5s that were the tiniest smidge too small. Actually, they should have fit, but perhaps the toe material snugs down a little too tight in front, and rubbed the top of my big toes. Anyway, I've never worn a 10 before, but I've returned the 9.5s and am waiting for the 10s. I just hope they aren't stupidly large, since the 9.5s fit otherwise.
(All even stranger than it might be, given all the people who found this shoe to be a half-size large.)

Love this brand of shoes and I am not a runner. I am a walker and these are so comfortable and they help keep my Plantar Fasciitis at bay. They run very small. These were a 1/2 size larger then my normal size and they are still too snug.

I love this shoe. I’m on my feet all day walking on hard surfaces. I fight plantar fasciitis constantly. These shoes keep my arches supported and give me a spring to my step.

My lags and feet have started swelling. I had Altra shoes a few years ago. I needed a bigger size, so bought these. Great roomy toe box. I have a high arch, so had to unlace to stretch it enough to get me foot in. The heel is very well padded. I agree with other reviewers that the laces are woefully short, way too short using all the eyelets. By skipping the very top holes, I could barely make a bow. Ordering longer laces. That was the only problem. Comfortable, good heel padding, wide and deep toe box. I have a variety of hammertoes and other toe deformaties. This toe box is great. Mesh provides much cooler feeling. Gets
an A from me.

These Altras are the BEST sneakers I've ever had. They have plenty of room in the toe box and LOTS of padding under the toe. Perfect for me, and they accommodate my orthotics. This is my second pair. I love them.

I just ordered a pair of these and one for my husband. I LOVE them! It was like slipping into a cushioned slipper. They fit perfect and we could not believe how comfy they were, just out of the box. Thought the rounded toe would look like clown shoes but you really don't notice the difference in appearance. Wait until you put them on and have room to wiggle your toes, which is great! Also, I ordered them just yesterday and they were here today....thanks ZAPPOS!!!!

These were one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet. I am a nurse and work long hours on my feet and needed something comfortable with good cushioning and great arch support. These fit the bill. Unfortunately in a size 12 (sigh) they were why to clunky. I ended up returning them for another style with the same brand.

I found the Altra to be way too wide in the toe box, but for anyone who needs this, it would be a great sneaker. Loved the extra height it gave!

They do fit pretty close to size. This is my third pair of Altra’s , and because the style I’ve had before(Paradigm 3) is not available anymore, I ordered these. They lack the support of Paradigm and wore blisters on both heels after the first 2 miles. I have always been able to wear the Altra’s right away without a break in period, but not these. I couldn’t wait to get my old worn out shoes back on. Maybe for someone else, but these are not for me.

Very difficult to get on, but once they're on, they're okay. I bought them for use in the (hot!) summer and they are too warm for this climate. Will look for a lighter model.

There was a ton of extra fabric on the top. Really strange fit. So much cushioning, and so it was terribly unattractive which is to be expected with a shoe like this. Sending them back.

I loved the Altra Olympus 1.5 and hoped these would have the same last, but they don't, unfortunately for me. The arch is lower, the feel is harder, the tongue is so long that it actually was rubbing on my ankle and the shoelaces were laughably short... could barely tie them, although if the rest of the shoe had worked for me I would have gladly lived with them.
As many have mentioned, Altra shoes seem to be very short, so order a half size or full size up.
So, although I'm sure they'll be good for some feet, they weren't for mine and I'll keep on looking!

I have to agree with other reviewers who loved the Olympus 1.5 but can't wear this version.
The last has changed. It feels harder and the arch is lower. The shoelaces are laughably short, and the tongue, oddly enough, is so long and stiff that it cuts into my ankle. The new Olympus doesn't work for my feet, but perhaps this shoe will work for yours. I will keep looking!

I was really tempted to keep these because the cushioning feels so amazing, and they are very comfortable, but even after going up a full size, the toe area is not long enough (they are plenty wide, and I have wide feet!). I could see that within the first month my toes would be breaking through where they hit at the seam. I also notice this seam-busting happened to one other reviewer, so it's not just me. The Lone Peak 3.5 and 3.0 in this size fit me fine, for reference. I would get the next size up in these, but feel like the rest of the shoe would be too big. My feet were swimming in them in every respect except the big toe--just a weird design. Wish they would make a high-cushion version of the Lone Peak. I also wish they would adjust their sizing to Planet Earth.

My first pair of Olympus 2.5 were sent from heaven, lasted about 9 months. Second pair not so much, the upper mesh developed holes in big toe and small toe area. After 6 months needed new pair. Both pair were worn for warehouse work.

I just received this, tried on the right one and didn't even bother to try on the left shoe because I could immediately tell they were too small and I ordered a half size larger than my normal shoe size, so already I know, if I order another style of this brand, I'll need to get a full size larger probably. ALSO..... the top of the toe - front foot area ..... feels like super light, flimsy fabric and I'm very uncomfortable with this feeling so thin and NOT durable so I'm going to really read reviews on the other styles because I really WANT TO WEAR this brand! I love the wide toe area and the style..... returning this pair however. Thanks for listening.

I really wanted to like Altra shoes because of the reviews and because every other running show I've purchased has killed my feet. I ordered a size 6.5 and tried them on. Too short. Like, uncomfortably short with my toes banging against the front of the shoe, which is weird because my regular shoe size is between a 6 and 6.5 depending on the designer. I even wear a 5.5 in some shoes. Anyway, so I returned the 6.5 and ordered a size 7. They just came in and they are WAY too big. I know these shoes are supposed to be roomier in the toe box, but I could literally fit both sets of my toes in this show. Also, it seems to run very, very large compared to the 6.5, which ran small. My heel is also slipping in this shoe, so it's obviously just entirely too large, but here is the thing that bothers me most: This shoe essentially has no tongue to protect your ankles from the laces. And, you have to lace these up pretty tightly to keep them from feeling like they're going to come off mid-stride. Because of this, there are incredibly uncomfortable to walk, much less run, in. The laces cut into your ankles! Returning and never buying again! My search continues. Sigh.

I wanted to like these shoes! They are soft and wide. I have alot of hardware in one of my legs and need help with the pain. At first they felt good and I wore them around the house to try them out, for a little whole as instructed. But the next day, my feet hurt and then the next day the same thing, SO back they go! The Hokas I tried are great, though and I keep them!
