this is great. I compare it to my columbias or the salomon speedcross which is much too narrow for my foot and also more stiff.

Did a training run and 10k in these so far. Other than getting a blister on my pinkie toe, everything was terrific. I think the shoe is a tad narrow compared to the Clifton series.

I had the origina Speedgoat and loved it, not a beautiful shoe I would say, but confortable and great for long distances. Didnt like that de lashes were difficult to get them tight. Speedgoat 2 got all this solved. And made a great improvement in look and feel, as the sole has great traction. I use it for trail running in dry mountains and is light for uphills and makes you fly in downhills. I did found the toe box a little bit too narrow in the first uses. In time it got losen and confortable. Definitely would recomend and Im buying my next pair.

I ordered a number of Hoka One One, and they look and feel terrific! My feet, however, need a wider toe box, even in men's (I am a woman). I'm lost now that Montrail has been bought and ruined by columbia. :(

I've owned a bunch of different Hokas. These are fine, just too narrow. I have wide feet, and most Hokas fit me perfectly.

I was very surprised that they fit true. I have never ordered a pair of shoes on-line and not had to return them because they did not fit. The reviews and recommendation on the site were honest and the shoes are very comfortable. The only con is that they are still a bit narrow. I expected worse since very few brands make shoes that fit well if you have wider feet. That said, I am verymplease with the shoes, the site and the overall customer service!

The Scapegoat 2 is my first Trail shoe that I have worn by Hoka but I've owned multiple Clifton's. Out of the box the fit was right on - comfortable, cushy, stable and provides good traction. There seemed to be a minimal break in period and the fit was snug but spot on to the other Hoka's I've worn. My foot is not wide but if you do have one I would say the toe box and fit could possibly be too tight for you. Some of my runs are road leading to trail and they perform well on the pavement but the lugs and general feel are noticeably different than the Clifton's so I wouldn't want to use this as a regular road or treadmill shoe. The only true downfall that I have found is that they soak through quickly running in the rain. They are not advertised as an all weather shoe but being a Portlander running in the rain is a regular occurrence and my feet start to get wet somewhere around the 3-4 mile range when it's coming down. I've only put about 50 miles or so on them so far but I've seen no signs of unusual wear and tear and they've performed exactly the way I was hoping. Definitely recommend!

Great shoe, standard width as far as a Hoka is concerned. Compared to an altra it is going to feel narrow.

I gave some feedback when I returned the shoes to HOKA. I bought a half size larger than my size & that helped with the narrow toe these shoes have, giving me some width. Women's HOKA's have only a couple of wide types & I think that's in the road running shoes only. Many reviews complained about the shoes being too narrow for them. Height of shoe is over-kill & it throws my gait off. That being said, there are several of my friends who have owned several pair. The Speedgoat 2 is the 4th HOKA I have bought as I like the idea of adding extra cushion to reduce impact. My hope is that HOKA continues with cushion, but discontinue with so much height to their shoes. This is what I know about their HOKA Thor Hi: it has the best traction for holding the trail when going down hill. GorTex is too hot & doesn't vent making for a lot of moisture inside the shoe that can't get out. This is ideal for causing painful blisters.

We just completed a 4.6 mile moderate hike yesterday. The Speedgoat 2 are the most comfortable trail shoes I've worn. I usually wear my mid leather Keen boots; which weigh more than the Speedgoat 2. The trail was slick in places because of all the leaves . I did not slip any during our hike yesterday. The cushion and support are awesome. The terrain was somewhat rocky with some roots. When stepping on rocks and roots; I only felt pressure underneath the footbed . No pain. I rate these a 4 out of 5. Only because I feel there needs to be more support on each side of these shoes ; in the areas where the sides mesh meets the upper cushioned side soles. Well done Hoka!

My back literally feels better after a week of wearing these puppies. If I could change one small thing it would be to just open up the toe box slightly more. But I am super happy with my purchase. This company needs some less loud colors for their shoes. But I love them Regardless!

While Coaching Cross Country we encounter all the elements. The Speed Goat 2 provides great traction whether in sand, on the grass, or rainy/snowy days with wet leaves.

I’ve put approximately 10 miles so far in these shoes both trail and street. So far I’m really happy. With them, I usually wear Nike because they seem to fit the best. These are fairly similar in fit but with more cushion.

Only run in hoka for road and treadmill. Been great for my hips and feet. No more plantar fasciitis. Recently started trail running and enjoy running for the first time. Had been in Brooks Mizama's which I had for obstacle racing. Tore quickly so went with hoka. I'm 5-5, 150, normally heel strikes and an not a fast runner. First time out this past weekend and these shoes were a game changer. Running down hill was painless and felt very comfortable on technical paths. Will upgrade to 5 stars if the last!!

I really like these Hokas. I get a lot of compliments on them. And they are very comfortable no matter where I am hiking. The only issue is the toe box did feel a little tighter although it is long enough. It could just be me as I have a broken left front toe that healed with a big bump on it. So I have padded it when I wear them. Thanks for another great product although I wish the toe fit better.

My podiatrist said so have to wear Hola brand. My feet are wide. Am a woman having to wear mens are their avg width is a women's wide. Ok but colors are not good. Jokes hard to get on Zappos, sizes frequently out. I now have 4 pairs of Speedgoat 2.

I run without socks. I only wish for the insoles to be higher at the arch. It'll probably make it less prone to irritation or blisters. No blisters so far; I have a low milage per run. Other than that this are one of the best. Getting a second pair. Love the elasticity of the cords. SO plush. No need for break-in. Ah, maybe some lycra around the ankle to avoid debris entering the shoes would be nice too. Fit as expected.

After reading that the #1 negative review of this shoe was that it's narrow and lower volume, I knew I'd found my trail shoes. I wear orthotics and these fit like a glove out of the box. I've never been able to wear trail shoes before because they are all so wide and my feet sit so low in them that I get ankle chafing and foot sliding or bunching laces trying to get them tight enough. I have had zero issues with these and have run up to a half marathon distance in them in comfort. They have also been perfect for hiking. Just enough cushion without being spongy, responsive on both dirt and pavement, sticky soles on wet/slippery trails, 4mm drop (I used to run in 8mm) has been great healing for my previous achilles and posterior tibialis tendonitis. I ordered a second backup pair right away. Thx HOKA!

Great comfort. The tab on the top of the shoes rubbed the top of my toes when walking.

Midsole cushioning much like previous model, but narrower in the toe box area (maybe size up 1/2 size). Stable on uneven terrain and great traction from outer sole design.
