After buying this duffel, I was thrilled to use it on my first two over night trips for business. My third trip, the handle no longer would pull out. This is a carryon. Never been abused. After writing to the company, I was told to fill out forms, photograph, and mail it to the company to be refurbished. AFTER 3 USES! UPS store quoted me $50+ to box and ship ground. Huge disappointment. Will keep it and use it as an expensive storage item. Never buying from this company again.

Nice size bag, have not used it as a carry on so I will have to wait to see if it fits the size requirements. It does need some work on the shoulder harness connection point at the bottom of the strap. Plastic clip seems cheap and poorly designed and has snapped open several times while I have been carrying the bag causing it to completely fall off my back. Work also needs to be done on the sternum strap: it is not attached to the shoulder harness and can slide off when straps are not attached to the bag by the cheap clip. The bag needs heavy duty zippers also

I have several Northface backpacks, all of which have been used extensively over years of commuting to work and school. Last year I was given this backpack as a gift, and was initially happy with it except for the lack of a water bottle holder. However, 11 months later, holes are developing in the creases of the material. This is simply unacceptable. This same issue has been mentioned by another reviewer. I will never purchase a Timbuk2 backpack again even though I live in SF and it's a local company.

I'm going to start by saying I have four timbuk2 backpacks and theee suitcases. I am DEDICATED to Timbuk2.. I need a lot of different luggage for my job so I bought this as my daily backpack. The convertible strap is a nightmare and I'm so angry that I bought this. Every time I pick it up, the strap snaps off. The little metal piece holding it in place might be faulty or poor design. I've been hit in the face with it several times and a few times when I'm walking down the street the clasp just snaps open and I lose a strap. The chest straps that bring the front closer together have always been important for me because I'm short and narrow. But on other backpacks I own they can't fall off the strap because there is stitching to keep them in place. Not this bag - I've already lost one side of the chest strap because on one of the many occasions the strap snaps off the chest strap fell off and I didn't realize it because that's such a massive design flaw! On top of that, if a chest strap isn't sewn in place, at the chest, then it falls to back. If you're carrying any weight in the bag, wiggling those up to meet your chest is awkward. I hate this bag so much.
