Some reviewers said to order a larger size, some said to order a smaller size, so I went with the Zappos size tool recommendation, which said that if a Clarks sandal in 9 fits me, I should order a 39. This turned out to be a full size too small. I can wear a shoe in medium if it runs narrow, and these definitely do. The upper is completely elastic, so I would expect some stretch over time. Right now, the straps over instep and around heel are definitely snug, and I have bony feet. It feels like there is sufficient padding under the heel and ball of my foot. I'm still wearing them around the house to be absolutely sure they are keepers. I also bought these in black, because who does not need a snappy flat sandal in black? Zappos customer service is superb. Jeff emailed me my return labels (I was also returning Bernie Mev Catwalks that run even smaller) and arranged to have my replacement order arrive less than 24 hours after my call! Thank you Zappos!

Really liked the look of this sandal. The problem was the front of the shoe was a little snug, so my toe was just peaking through, and looked a little silly. I think a slightly larger size would have solved the problem. I need a shoe with good arch support, this one had none.

Finding the right size in Bernie Mev shoes is challenging. Zappos recommended 39 (US 9) according to my input, but this was a full size to short. The uppers are completely elastic. The sandal fits more like a narrow, which was good for my feet - I can wear some mediums but they must run narrow. Size 40 (US 10) was good, but fit was inconsistent, as I found true for all Bernie Mev styles I tried. I ordered several colors and some were actually too tight in the width. The "Shimmer" colors, or any metallic color (Light Gold, Pewter, Bronze) can feel scratchy. I kept only the black. Zappos support was really great in helping me complete exchange orders. You can't improve on them!

Balmy,runs small; metallic shoe material is itchy. Cute & somewhat comfortable shoe, however.

Fast delivery and love the shoes, band across the ankle a little tight. Will order a different size. I think their sizing is a little off.

I have enjoyed several pairs of Bernie Mevs and I have never been disappointed. This particular style is new for me, and since I just received them, have not given them much wear. They fit well and although the heel is a bit low for me, it seems to be working out fine. The color is just fantastic and not really what I expected. Bright and a bit bold--just right for spring.

I love these sandals! I ordered 5 different sandals from Zappos ranging from all leather Sesto Meucci (most expensive) to these (least expensive) and intended to keep only one pair. These are so cute and comfortable on my feet that I have to keep them! The pewter color is attractive and shows off the weave, the footbed cushions my foot, the sole has great traction and they are light and versatile for travel. With the way I wear sandals I know they can't last as long as some well-made leather ones would, so I may also keep a second pair from my selection, but if I do, they will be second favorites. As to size, I am usually a 38 in other shoes and the 38 in these is perfect. (The one other time I bought Bernie Mevs they were a maryjane style and I wore a 37.)

I bought a 37 which I usually do, but this style fits a bit more snug around the strap than the Comfi model. Also the weave has some metallic in it and it rubs my toe a bit when new . Still comfortable though. I’m sure it will stretch out a little and then be fine.

I really wanted to like this shoe and thought I might get it in another color if it worked. The size fit fine but the strap over the instep was very tight and it did not appear that it would stretch enough to ever be comfortable. The size itself was ok so I dont think going up a size would have helped. I do have a high instep, maybe they would work better for others. Unfortunately, I am going to have to return them.

Loved the look of these shoes but even a full size larger was way too tight on my feet! Squeezed my toes even tho the length was ok ... just too tight. Had to return them.

So sad to return these because I LOVE the way they look and the style and the comfortable sole ... but the straps are WAY too tight for my feet. I normally wear 9.5 and ordered the 40 and the 41 (10 and 11!) and although the length was perfect in the 41, my feet were being uncomfortably squished by the woven straps. :(

I had high hopes for this elastic sandal because I have a large bunion and need the stretch. I would have gotten a wide width, but it wasn't available. I tried the size 38, and couldn't even get my foot into it, so I got the size 39. That seems to be working out better. It is still too tight over the bunion, but it will probably stretch a little more as I wear it. At least I can wear it, which is great, because it is getting harder and harder for me to find shoes or sandals that I can wear.

The fit was ok, ordered 1 size up. They were kind of “old lady” looking. Returning.

These look tiny are too small too tight I have no idea about comfort or arch support. It's very tight and short. The box they come in is adorable. The shoe, less so.

Sandals were a shade too short and somewhat scratchy on the insole so returned them. I liked that they were tight across the toes as I have narrow feet. I have 2 pair of bernie men flats in the same size which fit perfectly.

Way too tight across the toes, even though I ordered a size up. My foot is wide across the toes, so this sandal might work for someone with a narrower foot. A cute sandal! Returning.

Love this shoe....love the color. Have to return for a bigger size tight in the toe. If the fit is great I will get other colors.

I have been wearing Bernie Mev shoes for many years in all kinds of conditions and travel. The pair of Balmy I just received is more narrow and the stitching on the inside footbed is scratchy. I like the style but this pair needs to be returned. I am not sure if this is just a bad pair and to reorder or go up a size.

These shoes are made with elastic which is fine but the elastic is VERY tight. I can barely get my foot in (I usually wear a medium width). I wore them around the house for a few days (ouch) hoping they would stretch, but no such luck. Very uncomfortable - left ridge marks. The style is very cute and the color is just what I wanted. Too bad!

Light gold/Plasma are not really orange, green, and yellow. It is more of a metallic hologram effect and knew I wasn't interested the minute I took them out of the box. Didn't even try them on. In the photo they reminded me of Klimpt's 'The Kiss', but in person they're leaning towards Star Wars. Not my thing. I went with a different style by the same maker and am really happy. So my review only goes refers to the 'color', not the shoe.

Disappointment! Cute, fits well, but NOT the comfort of the "comfy by BM.
