I recieved these caribou boots in the mail yesterday and oh my!! I opened up the box and thought I had ordered men's boots! I have another pair of sorels (Joan of the artic & I love them!) and I compared the caribou ones to my others and they were about twice the size! (They are both a 9.5). And these boots are SO heavy. I read the reviews before I bought these and thought people were just overreacting but no, they are very heavy and bulky. I was planning on wearing these daily as winter is coming up but I will be returning these, unfortunately.

I am usually a size 6, but when I received the Caribou in a size 6, the foot of the boot, all around, looked two sizes too big. The boot itself is very heavy and the shaft felt uncomfortably tight. The product looks fashionable and functional online, but it looks clunky and large in person. I really wanted a good pair of winter boots, but I am going to return them.

Bought this boot 3 years ago. I wear it to walk the dogs in the snow maybe 2 hours 3 or 4 times a week during winter months. This year the rubber is cracking and not reparable per the shoe repair shop. I thought the boots were great because they kept my feet warm and dry. They look like new with hardly any wear EXCEPT the cracks in the rubber! I am so disappointed.

I have had Sorel boots for years. My father-in-law, a retired cop gave me a pair of well worn originals with new liners that lasted me another 15 years in upstate New York.
I liked them so much that 3 years ago I bought a pair of Black Caribou to use for dressier occasions. This year with the advent of winter I wore my boots only to discover a leaking boot.
I got only two years of moderate use before I need to replace them. Today I checked the warranty and see I am out of luck. 1 year warranty
I am like many people here. Disappointed by the drop in quality. I will not be buying Sorels again.

I bought a pair of Caribou boots 3 yrs ago and by the end of the first winter of wearing them, the rubber was cracked on the inner side of both boots. I returned them to the store I purchased them from and received a new pair. Again, by the end of the following winter the rubber was cracked on both boots. My husband has the same boots and the same thing happened to him, though he was able to wear them for 2 winters before the rubber cracked.
We purchased these boots thinking they would be high quality and would last for a number of years. Very disappointing and frustrating.

Up until this past week I really enjoyed the look and feel of my Sorel boots. This was to be the 4th winter wearing them here in NJ, so usage has been light. Needless to say, they are not going to see winter #4 because the sole detached from the rubber upper on the left boot. So my otherwise near mint condition boots are useless. I had lived in Ottawa, ON in the late 90's and had a pair that I left for a friend living there when I moved back south... wouldn't you know it, he is still wears them to this day.
Obviously I can't return 4 year old boots but they should last much more than 4 years. Is there any way to get these repaired? From what I see online they are good for the garbage. What a shame.

I bought a pair of these on multiple recommendations. I was very happy with them at first but after only two months I started getting cracks above the sole/below the rubber upper. I took them back to the store I purchased them from and got a replacement pair. That new pair lasted only three months before I got a HUGE split in the rubber. I took those back too and will not buy another pair again.

I have owned Sorel Caribou's for over 30 years. They are comfortable and warm. The problem is in the longevity.
My first pair lasted 14 years. My second pair lasted 14 years. 4 years ago I bought my 3rd pair. Lasted 2 years before the rubber started splitting. I bought my 4th pair during the winter of 2012 (Thought I would give it one more shot). They are now starting to split in the rubber also. Two years after purchase. I give up. No more Sorel Caribou's for me. Quality of materials or quality control has failed me.

Have always had high regards for Sorel boots...until now. I started out loving these boots, but after only a year and a half the rubber has begun cracking at the flex points. Certainly not the same boots I grew up with that seemed to last a lifetime!

Unless you're a construction worker, these boots are way too heavy. They weighed in at over 6 lbs. when i went to ship them back!

Bitterly disappointed. This is my 2nd pair of Sorel boots and I will NEVER buy Sorel again. If you are looking for light use boots for snow shoveling, grocery store trips, snowmobiling or use that doesn't require much walking this is you boot but if you want an every day, on the farm, live in them 9 hours a day don't buy this boot. The rubber has cracked on both boots from walking and now lets the wet in. The liners wear made with such a small opening it was almost impossible to get your foot in without cutting into the felt and I have a size 7, narrow foot. This boot is in it's second winter which equates to about 6 months of solid wear in it's lifetime. From Sorel I expected more but would hazard a guess that these boots are made overseas and do not have the same qualities that Sorel was originally known for. My first pair of Sorel Caribou boots lasted 9 winters and only the tread wore out. I would suggest Sorel look into the quality of it's production before they lose another customer due to poor workmanship.

I have had a pair of Sorel boots for 12 years and at Christmas I bought a new pair of Women's Caribou boots - They do not protect your feet at all in cold weather - something is very wrong with this version and I am horrified that for the price I am stuck with boots that are a SERIOUS DANGER TO MY TOES! The upper section is cozy but the foot part is useless - where the stitching is,above the toe area, you actually feel the chill penetrating - Really disappointing as they look great but my toes tell another story - and I had woollen socks on! I had to come back and put on my old Merrils - Not a happy customer at all.

I oredered these shoes after reading all of the good reviews on this brand. I never had this brand of shoes before. When I recieved them, they were great. They looked great and kept my feet warm in the cold. However, when it came time for the true test in the snow, these boots LEAKED. I wore them in the snow of 4-5 inches and within minutes water started seeping through and my feet wet. Do not get for these shoes if you intend to keep your feet dry and warm in the snow. Maybe in the cold yea, but not the snow. Wish i didn't spent the $140 on these shoes and went with another brand.

Please read the one-star reviews. Many people are having the same problem with the rubber cracking on the sides of the toes at the bend points. My boots only lasted 2 years when I encountered the same problem. There is obviously a problem with the material. These are not $40 Kmart boots. It's ridiculous to pay $160 for something that only lasts 2 years.

I bought these for my daughter to wear at college while walking between classes. These didn't even last a year before developing major cracks or rips in the rubber where it bends. Look elsewhere if you want something durable.

I bought my pair for a year ago and it have allready started making cracks in the rubber. This have happened on both of the shoes. I live in Norway where the winter is rough and then i need a pair of shoes that deliver. Its not looking good and its leaking when I walk in snow. But besides of this, its a realy a good shoe. Its kinda heavy, but so is the Norwegian winter as well ;-)
The cracks really disappointed me, so i would not recomend this shoe to my friends unless they would like wet feets in minus 25 degrees celsius...

I received these after much anticipation to walk my dog in our snowy, canadian winters. Such a disspaointment. They give me huge blisters on the backs of my ankles where theres a huge ridge where the rubber meets the leather. I didn't return them because i thought i could just "work them in" I've tried wearing different socks, tieing them up differently but nothing helps. I have a feeling that since Sorrel sold to Columbia the quaility i had come to trust in the Sorrel name is no longer there. They look nice yes - but arn't fit for purpose.

I've had these boots before and they were great, but these one's leaked immediately, in each boot. Don't waste your money on a boot that does not match it's company's claim to being fully waterproof. From the first time and everytime I wear them in snow, both of my feet become almost instantly soaked.

Boots looked great until you try to put them on. They have an inner boot that is so small and the band at the top and along that inner boot is so unstretchable that will not allow you to get your foot into the boot. I bought these thinking that a lace up boot would be easier to get on. Unless you foot is a twig good luck trying to pull them on. The actual outer boot looks as thought it would fit and be great but the inside is a major flaw. I am very disappointed in that it looks like a great a boot.

I have bought two pairs of the Caribou and they both formed cracks in the rubber.
They are great boots for about 2 months and then there are issues.
The first pair I bought was in 2011, they almost made it to the end of the season before cracking (and letting in snow/water).
The second pair was bought in 2012. They were cracking by the end of the season however due to the weather there was no snow and I barley wore them.
This season I thinking of buying a 3rd pair from a dealer that will replace them when cracked. If they allow it I will just continue to replace them (for free) until the issue is fixed.
The only reason I'm thinking of buing a 3rd pair is becuase they are very good looking boots and when new do exactly what I need/want them to do.

Really disappointed, couldn't get my foot in past the top tight elastic... sending them back. Why did you make the top area so darn tight with no expansion possible?

My first pair lasted seven months and then the rubber started cracking on the bottom. Returned them to dealer for another pair, they only lasted two months and they started cracking, took them back to dealer for a refund, and now I'm done with Sorel. In my opinion very cheap material and poor quality.

I bought these boots to wear on a trip to Germany in December. There was snow/slush and very cold air. My feet got wet and cold after about an hour outside. I thought my feet were wet from sweating but when I took my boots off it was obvious that water had gotten in from the outside. The wool inserts were soaked and my socks were damp. I was very disappointed since these boots claim to be waterproof.
