I bought a pair of these about three months ago and they are exceptional as far as comfort is concerned.
The issue I have with these is that the upper knit material has started to wear but only on the right shoe (weird). These shoes have only seen my house and office so I'm pretty disappointed in the overall craftsmanship.
This is my first pair of Merrells so I'm pretty bummed out.
Overall favorable but lose 3* for quality.

Well, I loved their previous Vapor Glove but this new version's shape has changed and rubs painfully in my instep. I've tried this red version as well as black and they differ slightly in rubbing but the rubbing is still there. Really sucks. I hope that the next version's shape will address this. Just returned.

I've worn Merrell's for years - I have a pair of Trail Glove Amazons I've worn since ~2012 and they're still going strong. I've never had a problem until purchasing these. The fit is perfect and the comfort is great. However, brand new out of the box there was about a 1/2" - 3/4" section of the sole that was not glued to the upper. Considering durability concerns expressed by others I'm leery and returning these. I love Merrell shoes and really do hope this is not an indication of a downward trend in quality.
The attached picture shows the gap in the left shoe compared to the right. I even curled up the right shoe to show there is zero separation there.

Finally made the jump to snag a pair of these and was initially really happy. They fit great and are super comfortable. Unfortunately after a month they already started to get little wholes and rips on the top material. I've now had them two months and am about to throw them out. I'm not even a runner and they're dead after 2 months? Poor production :(

Really don't like this new style, construction is the same but, in my opinion, the style /design is hideous. I am a tall woman with large feet, love the Merrell Barefoots. The iteration prior to this one is my favorite, was lucky to find some on line at Amazon. Ordered 2 pairs. Why did Merrell feel the need to change the design/style?

I own a fitness business and I recommend minimal shoes to anyone doing strength training or functional training so you can get the "tripod" of bones in the bottoms of your feet to stay in firm contact with the ground. How your hip functions is dependent on the sensory feedback from the foot so it's important. The ground feel and tread grip on these shoes are fantastic. One of my requirements for a minimal shoe is that the tread will hold on any gym floor surface - concrete, rubber matting, carpet, or hardwood. This shoe is perfect.
However, the shoes are falling apart after only 6 months. The fabric has separated at the top of the toes where it meets the rubber sole (saw a comment about this somewhere else) and the fabric is shredding apart on the inside edge alongside the big toe on both shoes. No idea why this is happening. I would have expected it to happen alongside the little toe from lateral movements that could cause the foot to slide out inside the shoe and overstress the fabric. The shoe appears better reinforced on the outside edge to prevent this, but the inside edge is where there's a problem. One of my clients also bought these shoes and her shoes are showing the same wear and tear on the inside edge so there appears to be a design flaw. I want to continue recommending these shoes but I only train with them 3 hours per week and they're almost done, and that's without any running.

The shoes are very comfortable and run about a half size bigger. I have worn them a few times at work (in a hospital) and noticed the soles are separating from both the heel and the toe where the fabric meets the rubber. Poor quality, VERY short shoe life. Worked 3 12 hour shifts and they are broken.

I have had two Merrell Vapor shoes and both sets have fallen apart. Even with regular use, I would expect them to last more than four months. I would say Merrell products are a risky buy at best.

I've been wearing various Merrill minimalist shoes for many years starting with the original trail glove. Unfortunately I've found that (at least to me) they have been getting a bit less "minimalist" with each new version, so I decided to try the vapor glove 3. I absolutely loved the feel of VG3 shoes; so much that I immediately ordered 2 additional pair just in case VG4 comes out and they aren't as minimalist as the previous edition. Unfortunately shortly after I received the additional VG3 shoes I noticed the soles on my first pair were showing premature wear. My use up to that point had been walking on unpaved trails as well as casual wear to work, etc, and compared to the wear rate I've experienced on all of my other Merrill shoes I was really disappointed.

A great fitting shoe but the inner siding towards the middle wears prematurely and has started tearing after just a few months of daily wear. The sole however is great! I still prefer my Sockwas for durability.

Vapor Glove 2 are the best running shoes ever, so I was really excited to hear about the Vapor Glove 3. However, from the moment I tried them on I didn't like the new material of the tongue, and the stitching toward the bottom of it caused irritation even when just walking around the house on the top of my foot. Also did not like the thicker sole. Not sure why they made such big changes when the VG2 was such a big hit!

I normally do not review things like shoes. And I normally love Merrell. However, this is the worst shoe I have ever tried to use. I like to walk long distances and have never had a problem with any shoe of any price. Wearing these for city walking at first was a disappointment. They just weren't that comfortable. The cushioning is non-existent. The first hike I did with them was a terrible mistake. I could feel every stick, rock, and thing beneath my feet, and not in a good way. In fact, stepping on a normal stone that would do nothing with any normal shoe ended up doing something to my heel during that hike that has taken longer than 3 days to heal. On top of that, the compensatory toe-stepping I've done to try to minimize the intense, shooting heel pains that come from trail walking with them caused intense calf soreness (which I like, but others wouldn't), ankle pain, arch pain (which I have never before had), and forced my walking speed from my normal 15-20 min/mi to 25-35 min/mi, with any random step a source of intense pain. Walking on the front of the foot doesn't help—it hurts there too, just not as deeply, with more sharp pains coming with any pebble. This is the worst shoe I have ever used for any purpose. I have had sturdier water shoes.

I have ordered these twice now, and similar to other reviews, the stitching was coming undone on one of the tongues in each instance. Such a shame, because functionally speaking, I love these shoes. They are clearly having some quality control issues that Merrell needs to deal with.

I got a full size smaller than what I normally get and they fit perfectly. They looked good. BUT... quality is TERRIBLE! They started to fall apart immediately. Believe the comments about poor quality. Do not waste your time/money on these!

I was super excited about this shoe because it had great grip and was light weight - exactly what I needed for my activity (I was just trying these out for dodgeball). I used these with very limited use, and the tongue started ripping out to the point where I can't wear them.
If you are planning to use for any type of torsional movement - these shoes can't handle it. The tongue is not secured enough with just the stitching at the front of the tongue.
I wanted to send an email to the Merrell, but they don't even allow that type of feedback on their site. I just don't care to talk to people on the phone.

Worst shoes ever!! Do not buy these shoes under any circumstance!! They started to fall apart after less than 2 weeks of wearing the shoes and there is a hole at the bottom of the soles.

I wear a size 10 and ordered a 9.5 as another user mentioned. They are very slightly still larger. The width is noticibily larger. I would be returning these, but my dog chewed up my yard shoes and these will work great for that. I have to give them a 1 star since they cannot be used for runnning or jogging due to way larger than advertised

Shoe wore out in 7 months. Similar to the photo posted in another review, the top part of the shoe wore open in just a few months of usage. The top material has ripped away from the sole. I have never had a shoe wear out this fast.

I had a pair of Merrell twilight glove shoes for about 6 years. They were great but did need a replacement after being used daily all that time. After less than two weeks one of the shoes ripped across the big toe. Very disappointed in the quality.

I have a pair of trail gloves that are still going strong after nearly 4 years. My vapor gloves got holes in the material in less than a month from the same daily use (walking, light workouts).
They are super stylish and comfortable, but I cannot recommend them because of the durability.

After wearing barefoot Merrell shoes for the last 7 years. I was very disappointed in the quality of the new Vapor Glove 3's. I order 2 pairs, one for myself and one for my son. And both pairs started to fall apart within the first three weeks. Holes in the toe box where the synthetic meets the rubber. Holes where the big toe flexes on the medial side of the shoe. Holes on the lateral mid foot area. Just very disappointed. We do wear our shoes every day. But they usually last a year to two. I do NOT recommend the new Vapor Gloves.. Sorry Merrell!!!

I've been running in Merrell's trail runners (either the Trail Glove or Vapor Glove) for 9 years and I'm a huge fan. However, I've watched their quality go downhill significantly in recent years. My current pair of Vapor Glove 3's are very comfortable and I enjoyed using them for 5-10km trail runs 2x per week--but within two months of light use, the material on top has worn in several places, with holes developing in key places. They will be unwearable soon. Very disappointed with the quality of these runners. Note that I bought the women's version, but it is no longer featured online here.

I had a pair of the Vapor Gloves from a couple years ago. they were great but It was time to replace them. My wife ordered a new pair of Vapor Glove 3 in Dec 2017. They were great for the first week. then i noticed the stitching on the tung had come loose and would soon fail. Merrell was kind enough to send replacement pair. i started using the replacement in Feb 2018. it is now April and these shoes are on the verge of failing. the mesh on the lower instep has about a 2" in length deep surface rip you can see through. not good! this seems like a issue that should of shown up in real world testing. i know these things happen but i am disappointed. i feel like the shoes should of lasted 8 months to a year under its intended use.
