I purchased these from a local department store. I've always purchased/loved Merrell products. After three weeks of everyday wear and gym use there are tears on both shoes. Sad to say I paid a lot for shoes to garden in.

This is my 4th pair of Merrel Bare Access, I walk about 30 miles a week in these. After just a couple of months, the mesh has torn, just like mentioned by another reviewer, right above where it says Flex Connect on both shoes. I won't buy another pair of these, it's a definite flaw as these shoes should last much longer.

I love the Bare Access shoes and bought many pairs over the years. Sadly, I will have to find another minimalist shoe for running. The arch on the new Bare Access is just too high. The fit and width is similar to the previous versions but the very high arch hurts my feet just walking around for a minute. I am really disapointed Merrell decided to change their winning combinaison.

I have worn Merrell shoes for years, and have never been bothered by the higher price point because I felt the comfort and quality were worth it. While these are very comfortable to me, I'm having to replace them after only a couple of months because they are starting to tear open where the shoe flexes! Not cool, especially for what I paid!!

Hi! I have been buying Merrell running shoes for about 7 years now. They are perfect minimalist shoes with enough support. I have purchased 4 different pairs (Bare Access 3 and 4 and Flex). These shoes usually last me a year or two. I ordered the Bare Access Flex thinking it would be similar to 3 and 4 but it was very different. The shoe material is different and thinner (already have a hole) and the arch support is different (seems higher). Also it's a little uncomfortable near the inner ball of my foot but I figured I would get used to it once I broke them in. After wearing these a couple months they are still not comfortable and I think these may have contributed to me hurting the arch of my foot. Now when I wear these, my arch hurts even more so I'm actually wearing my old Bare Access 4s. I wish I could return for a different, older model but it's too late.

I bought these shoes solely for a highly anticipated April vacation to Australia. While they were super comfortable and had good support, I noticed that they now have tears and/or stress marks on the top of the shoe where the mesh meets the rubber. I've worn them just for walking, no running or workouts. They are not of the usual Merrell quality and are a disappointment.

The shoe had too much arch support for a barefoot shoe.

These shoes were purchased roughly 2 months ago and have already started to show a lot of wear. The sole is wearing a bit, but not too bad. The top, however, is starting to have wear holes on the edge of the reinforced toe from flexion. I don't walk a tremendous number of miles daily that would justify this type of wear. I'm a long time fan of Marrell, but am uncertain if the level of product quality is starting to become compromised. I wouldn't recommend this item for someone else to purchase.

I was expecting a barefoot feel. The arch hit me wrong and it felt like my heel was NOT touching the bottom of the shoe. Otherwise the shoe was very light weight and I loved the fun color.

I've been running in Merrells since I began barefoot running more than five years ago and have worn everything from the Ascend Gloves (RIP!) to Vapor Arc the Bare Access Arc for zero drop and the Mix Master Move to switch it up and work different muscles. Despite its decreasing selection of minimalist running shoes, I've stayed loyal to Merrell, but had to switch models yet again this year. While the fit is OK, the new fabric is far too stiff on the toes. Unlike other models I've worn that have softer fabric that bends across your foot, when this pair of shoes bends, the top digs right into your feet/toes. I wore them for a few runs, hoping they'd break in, but they only got worse, to the point that it was extremely painful just to walk in them. Am bummed to have to leave the Merrell family, but this new design is a misstep.

This shoe had no support. It did not allow for me to place my insole. Would not recommend. I've had over a dozen pairs of Merrells and this one is going back.

Shoe lasted for 45 days max- hole on sole in left heel, fraying on left upper. Use to walk route on pavement and trail. Have worn Bare Access and Trail Glove versions for past five years and each has had a lifespan of about 3 months. Not the quality of product it used to be.

I am extremely disappointed in the quality of this product. I purchased these shoes for work. I am a nurse and I wear these shoes often, but not every day. I have had them for four months and they already have holes is the mesh part of both shoes. My running shoes by Merrell lasted me a year and I run at least three times a week. My hiking boots are by Merrell and are still holding strong at four years. Somebody dropped the ball on this product.

I am sad that Merrell did not make these shoes right. I had my last pair for 3yrs. and loved them. This year I bought another pair, and they were so uncomfortable. I wish the quality wouldn.t of gone hill.

Fit is great, however within the first 3 weeks they cracked and the mesh pulled apart where the ball of the foot bends in the inside of the foot. Very upsetting as they're not a cheap shoe and I've loved the previous vibrant barefoot I've had. Quiet disappointed with this product.

Bought these shoes--most comfortable shoes I may have ever owned. However, thry wore out at the natural bend on the top of the shoe after only a few weeks of normal wear. Contacted Merrell, they were happy to replace with a new pair. Only problem...new pair developed same wear problems on shoes after only a couple months of wear--same problem everyone else seems to have on the reviews!! Boo! I expect much better from you, Merrell!

Too much arch support. Is this a minimalist shoe or not? Also, why did merrell shorten the height of the toe box? I literally can no longer find a single athletic shoe to fit the height of my toes. My nail is rubbing the top of the shoe as I type this. It's starting to feel personal!

I love the fit and feel of the shoes, but very quickly they have developed holes and tears in the sides of the shoes. I have a sedentary job so I do not put a lot of torture on the shoes. My husband and son have other Merrell shoes and they held up very well. These for some reason seem to be falling apart. It does not seem to be the usual quality of the brand.

I'll be returning these. I found this shoe to be very uncomfortable. The toe section is huge and looked like clown shoes when I put it on. Didn't even take the 2nd shoe out of the box. I don't recommend these...and I own more than a dozen pairs of Merrell shoes, so I'm usually a big fan. I was very disappointed.

Merrell! I am SO sad; you changed your sizing on me and I had no idea (your shoes last so long that I don't have to buy them often!). I only wear Merrell shoes, because they are simply the most comfortable (no blisters) and long-lasting shoes (and believe me I take shoes through the ringer), and I've been in size 10 for years until now. I ordered two pairs of different styles in size 10 and they don't fit, so I cannot wear them (way too big)! Both my past pairs (running and hiking) are size 10. I don't live close to any retail shops to check shoe sizes and I just figured that I knew my size. Overall, I am super bummed because your shoes keep my feet happy and adventuring!

I bought 3 pairs early 9/2017. I rotated wearing them for the past 8 weeks. Every shoe, all 6 of them have a hole where the shoe bends by the big toe. Not worth the price for the poor quality.
