Compared to my older Merrell’s of a similar style, this size 8 is at least 1/2 inch shorter than the newer one. The toe box is narrower.

I was very happy when I received my shoes, they looked fantastic and fit as expected. They have good archsupport, ankle support (even without them being boots), and are pretty stiff. Which, at first gave me some doubts as to whether I would have enough time to break them in before my hike. I even bought another pair of trail runners to bring with me. Needless to say I brought the other shoes back, these were fantastic! My friends and I did a pretty strenuous trail in the rain and these shoes did great. My feet stayed dry, and even though on flat ground I felt a slight "rocking" sensation when I walked, on the trail I didn't notice a thing. Very cute and they do the job! I wouldn't recommend for everyday walking but for day hikes, you can't go wrong. Overall vey happy with my purchase.

Wide width is awesome! I bought the 8W and it felt good but just looked long to me so I might perhaps trip on rocks. I decided to buy the 7.5 W. It’s just perfect as if custom made. Will return the 8. Only a few other shoes fit this well for narrow heel, very wide forefoot, and high arch. This size is same fit as Med or Wide cork footbed sandals, European size 38, such as Mephisto or Birkenstock. Footbed is removable to allow your own orthotics if needed

Good looking and comfortable shoe. Tried a similar looking Columbia first and that one felt too short, a little too narrow in the toe box, and had no arch support. The Merrell Outmost Vent is a keeper. Good for casual hiking.

Great shoe, as usual from Merrell. The treat has a great grip on rocky trails, the mesh keeps your feet cool, and the arch support is good. There could be a bit more cushion, but they are comfortable as-is for their intended purpose. As is usual for Merrells, they do run a bit wide, which is great for wearing extra cushioned socks or those of us that fall between medium and wide widths.

Very comfortable. I'm a size 6 and it fit perfectly (I'd say my feet are more on the wide side.) I did international travel in them, ran around at airports for days, went hiking, walked the city and they performed great. Definitely recommending them!

My second pair of Merrell shoes and they didn't disappoint. So nice to have durable shoes with good arch support. I'm not a big fan of brown but I like the accent color Canteen. I also like the quality of the bottom of the shoe which has good grip. It seems that so many shoes have flat surfaces without much texture/grip.

These are very comfortable shoes. I'm on my feet all day and needed a sturdy, comfortable, breathable shoe. These are exactly what I was looking for! These will be great for the trail, too!

Absolutely thrilled! No break in period. 2nd day walked 22,000 steps - no blisters or sore areas. Walked another 22,000 steps the next day! That was last week on vacay. Still very comfortable!!!

The first time I wore these shoes was for a two hour hike on rocky hills. They were light and supportive--I felt buoyant. Lots of room for feet to expand, and no blisters.

Bought these because I have the boot version and wanted a low top shoe. It is very supportive. I use them for long walks and walking on our local trails. I need extra heel support and these are perfect!

I've worn the Siren Sport 2 for years, but it appears Merrell has replaced it with a Q-something which I ordered but sent back as it was nothing like the old Siren Sport. I just got this Outmost Ventilator and it feels great, excellent support, and not as stiff/hard on the interior as the Siren Sport was. I chose 4 stars for comfort, but blame that on me because I have all kinds of foot issues and no shoe will ever be 100% comfortable. This one seems to be as close as I can get.

Lovely shoe, well made, nice color. Unfortunately, the toe box is sloped inward too narrowly on the outer side of each foot. Thankfully, I wore them in the house to try them out. With significant neuropathy, I have to wear shoes, then check my feet for red spots and the outer foot/little toe were bright red. I tried them with various thicknesses of socks. Alas, have to send them back. For someone with average feet, they would be a great shoe!. Thank you Zappos, for your fabulous customer service! I applaud you and am grateful for being able to order shoes and try them here at home.

Love the look and initial feel of this shoe. Attractive with a subtle teal trim on a grayish brown background. Comfortable, durable Merrell composition. The inner sole does remove for orthotics, contrary to product description. I wore them here at home and may have difficulties with the depth of the toe box. I have neuropathy in my feet so when I'm testing shoes, I wear them at home, then when I remove them, check for red areas that might indicate a problem with the fit. The top of my big toe was red. I like these enough, I'm going to give them another try with a cushier sock and see if the same thing happens or if sock thickness makes a difference. I'm grateful to Zappos for their amazing customer service!

Lots like my old Sirens but I have high arches and one foot was pushed inward so the arch was actually pushed down. Don't know if this is because my forefoot is wide (I do fine with usual mediums though), or a quality control problem, or just they didn't fit. Loved them otherwise! BTW, the footbed IS removable.

This shoe fit me like a glove and even made my size-11 feet look smaller somehow. They also have amazing arch support - I have flat feet/overpronation and might not even need my arch supports in these. And, they're fairly low-profile and subdued in color for a hiking shoe, which means you could probably wear them on the street if you wanted without looking like you just came down from the mountains.
However, they definitely run at least 1/2 size small. My toes were touching the end of the shoe and since they only go up to 11, I had to return.
Five stars for everything else, took off one-star for the fit!

These are great- Ive had merrels in the past and have always loved them. I had to send the first pair back (same style )because of a defect in one of the shoes-- but the pair I got back was fine-- they are light and breathe well . My Moabs were a bit hot in the summer but these are great.
