I live in Calgary, Canada and I've been to -20C degrees and I must say that this parka is warm enough for the coldest winters. I usually wear a thin layer under this parka and I'll be fine but it highly depends on how much cold you can endure. It is also windproof and waterproof and I really like the emergency mask as I don't like to wear a scarf. The only problem is that it is bulky and makes you look big specially if you fill your pockets, though it is true to size.

No issue with zipper as other posts have stated. Because it's a parka, the zipper is longer & takes getting used to versus a short jacket.

Searched forever for the "best" winter jacket for my boyfriend to get through his first Boston winter. The material feels extremely sturdy and thick to prevent wind chill and he liked the long length. One very nice detail is the built in face mask, that will really come in handy.

The Mcmurdo is very versatile and stylish all in one. You can wear this for dress or with your casual wear. It's lightweight while keeping it's promise of being very warm and comfortable. I would absolutely buy this coat again. I love the North Face products, they are made to last.

I bought this for my husband who had taken to wearing 2 coats while walking the dogs when it was 10 degrees or colder. He loves it! He said it is the warmest coat he has ever had. He loves all the large pockets (for dog treats!) as well as the built in neck gaiter and hood. The wind resistance as well as water resistance is a blessing during storms. This is not a jacket for snowshoeing or skiing, but if you want to be warm and dry while walking around town, this is for you! The zip off hood is an added bonus!

I am 6'3 and have long arms, so i had to go up to a xxl. def looks a little to big but its so warm and my favorite coat ever.

This coat is an investment for me. I wanted a coat that that would last me a long long time and that is fashionable. Found this one and haven't looked back.

This product was strictly for use in the cold. It was a great buy.

This a great warm winter jacket. All you need is a light sweater underneath (unless you're going somewhere really cold). Wore to a late December football game, mid 30 temps and was still toasty standing around after a few hours. I'm 5'9" and ordered medium after trying on th large.

I would buy this again, but the material and build quality is so good, I don't believe I'll have to buy it again!

I wanted a coat for the Minnesota winters. Was getting tired of throwing a rain coat over a down coat. This is a great jacket for when the weather outside is at its worst. I tried the small on and that fit overall better but went with the medium for more room. The small fit me better in the chest but the arms were short. Also it felt tight in the arm pits. That is always the issue with the clothing in the outdoor industry. Every company makes a different small or medium from the next. You have to try them before buying online.

This product is great. Keeps me super warm in these cold conditions up in Minnesota.

When I placed an order of this parka as a Xmas gift for my son, I was not very sure whether he'd like it or not. When my son opened the box and put it on in the Xmas morning, I knew immediately I picked right gift! The jacket looked so nice on him, much better than shown in the picture, and so warm and fit to New England's cold winter. My son and I both loved it!

After watching my husband try on this coat for months and drop hints about it, I bought it for him for Christmas. He loves the coat and it was exactly what he was looking for to cut through the cold Chicago wind

This outwear is very confortable and warm. Fits a little large so take a size below your regular one.

I bought this coat for my husband, he loves it , it has a lot of pockets and it's very warm but also very stylish he's gotten lots of compliments on this goat would definitely buy again.

Great looking and functional wear. Needed to find reliable coat to wear to get me through Chicago winter. Stylish for work commute, while keep me warm and dry on windy/snow/wet climates. A+ for style and function. Only con is the size of the hood. I had removed the faux fur as I like to look without it, but without the extended faux fur, the hood would only cover 2/3 of my head...it also does not have adjustment strap on the edge of the hood to pull down to avoid wind from blowing the hood back. Address these issues and add few dollars to the price, you will have a perfect winter coat!! In terms of fit, it runs a bit large. I would typically wear between S and M. Bought S thinking it would be snug, but it fits perfect for my build even with a layer of thick sweater. I'm 175 lb 5'7".

My husband had fallin instantly in love with this coat in the store but when they didnt have his size, he was so bummed out about it, so I decided to order it for Christmas and he was extremely overjoyed.. he's already received multiple compliments!!
