Great head protection for windy snowy conditions. Very warm. Great for extreme snow blowing and shoveling where you get windy blowback from the snowblower. The large brim help block the blast to the face.

I just came here to say that when 'Duncan in Canada' says something like this: ''even my wife thinks that, for this style of hat, it looks pretty good'' that you KNOW its gotta be good!

Bought this without being sure how I would like it, and had considered it as a gift for a friend with a VERY large head. On arrival found the extra large was not as "extra" as it was just "large". Size wise I found it comparable to a Large bike or ski helmet. Not big enough for the friend, but good for me. Hat itself is warm, well designed, I like the face mask. Throw on a pair of goggles and this is the ultimate snowblowing hat - your face is fully protected from wind (or machine) blown snow. Despite light weight is surprisingly warm, comfortable (even warm) at -12 celcius. Some may find the look is polarizing, but even my wife thinks that, for this style of hat, it looks pretty good.

I bought the Whitefish jacket recently and fell in love with yet another OR product. Then I find out the jacket has a matching hat and couldn't help myself. The style isn't even necessarily my style but I dig the versitility of the hat with its ear protection and optional face mask that neatly tucks away. Hat is warm and water beads off nicely. Cant complain! another win by OR.

This is my new favorite hat! I work outside in the rain, wind and cold. This thing keeps my head and facewarm and dry. It looks super cool and is great for any weather other than warm weather. The face mask is not too thick so you do not got too hot. I can wear it for several hours and not get uncomfortable.

I thought the plastic piece in the brim had broken. It is actually designed to fold....WHY? It is actually destined to fail the sharp edged foding spot will weaken the fabric at that point and it will fail at that spot. otherwise what a great hat!

Box shape bill was broken in half??? Maybe it was meant to be that way??? Warm, functional , but shape just isn't for me. Looks better on a dude than a chick.

Especially appreciate the foldable brim, the mask is a good idea, however the snap is flimsy, hard to snap on and off.

This hat kept the wind off my head at around 12,000 feet elevation and every time I'm feeling cold I pop it on and I'm instantly warm. The material seems durable and it's ability to fold in half is nice when your not wearing it. It also looks stylish is you like the deer hunter look. Only thing I don't like about it is the face mask. you can feel it against your face when you have it in the zipper stored away.

I don't know if it was written before I purchased, but be aware that the top of the cap is split in two which might be useful to carry in a bag but it's not what I would describ as very cute. We were a little bit disappointed since we didn't see that on the pictures prior purchase.

I gave this four stars considering I didn't plan on using the face mask before I ever received the product. If you're buying this product incorporating the face mask in the purchase decision, then you should probably reconsider. I love the look and warmth of this hat! I work in Antarctica, needing a good had with good ear coverage. My previous hats didn't do too well in the high winds we get here, with my ears being the most problematic out on the boats. But this is a great fit and stays in place. The most noticeable downsides are the snaps and face mask. The snaps on the chin strap are a bit awkward and I'm anticipating them failing soon -- but hopefuly I'm wrong. I thought I wouldn't use the face mask when I purchased this product, but now that I have it in my hands, I wish I could! It would be great for sudden weather changes, but as it stands the mask is much too big for my face and simply sags around my neck. I like that it uses velcro instead of being permanently attached, but it's not adjustable and therefore unusable.

The XL was too tight, I considered sewing in an elastic dart (or adjustment) to make it more comfortable. Hood sits a little low, it would be nice if the bill flipped up to allow better peripheral vision. The "plastic" outer material makes a crinkling noise in my ears with the slightest movement. The snaps are cumbersome, I have to remove my gloves and struggle to attach the strap even with both hands. I will probably add Velcro. I hunted high and low for a replacement for my 30 year old "Orca" hat (made in USA & Large fits well), see attached picture, this was the closest equivalent I could find. Also it was really too expensive for a cheap Chinese knockoff.

Fits my needs

It's warm, but the snap is irritatingly hard to close especially in arctic temperatures and with not-so-nimble fingers.

Loved it the first week until the chin snap grommet tore the 2nd week. Customer service was rigid. They did not have another in stock and the only option they provided was to send it back for refund leaving me no warm hat in freezing Minnesota. They were not willing to provide the refund and allow me to keep the hat for the winter despite the fact that I sent a photo showing the torn grommet
