The Carson Pass is the most flexible and functional (all while being very cute) coat I have ever owned. I bought this coat after moving from Duluth to a mid-Atlantic state. My old MN winter coat, was meant for -25F weather. It was too warm for where I live now. Now I find myself where the winters are averaging around highs in the 40's with dips (especially in the morning) to upper 20's or 30's sometimes lower. It is also much wetter here. Even when it snows, the snow is wetter and heavier than in MN it seeped through my old MN fall coat. I quickly learned that I needed a better option. I don't need the -25 temperature rating I did before, but I needed waterproof and flexible for the up and downs from 28F in the morning to 45F in the afternoon. Enter the Carson Pass. It is everything in one. The shell is great on the sunny, 45F kind of days. If I go for an early morning walk and it is still in the 20's, I will wear the two layers together. If I want more of a car coat, I can wear just the lining. I also travel up to cooler temperature places during the holidays and this is the perfect coat to bring. It allows me to be ready for a surprise 50F day or if a nor'easter comes through when I am visiting my family. I love the length as I hate coats that sit at my waist and like them to come down to my hips. I love the flexibility & the waterproof -ness of this coat. The fur trim can be removed. It can be cinched. It looks stylish and fits very well (true to size). I have the olive green shade. but they have so many lovely options. Really this is a stylish, flexible, waterproof multipurpose coat. Bottom line is this coat is the perfect winter coat for moderate & snowy winter weather (Cleveland down to Georgia) and a great option for anyone needing a flexible warmer coat. If you are living in the Upper Midwest or Canada I would suggest a warmer, negative zero temperature rated option for winter than this one. The Carson pass would be more of a fall /spring coat for the Upper Midwest / Canada areas.

I've purchased 3 of these coats now. Not because they fall apart, but because my weight ha fluctuate LD so much over the last three winters that it's necessary for me to purchase a different size. I've never had the desire to switch coats, this one is just too perfect which is why I keep buying it. Super warm, but you can take the outer layer off on milder days. I live in Iowa so the weather can turn on a dime. It's nice to have the versatility with this coat. I have an "hourglass" figure, so the tie at the waist really helps give a more feminine look. I always have issues with coats that go passed my hips as it bunches up around my waist and create an unflattering look. The tie on this coat prevents that. I 10/10 recommend this coat.

Got this coat for my daughter for those cold days and especially rainy days in NYC. It's really warm and it's good in the rain. I got her a size small just in case we need to throw a sweater underneath. Fits great.

I've owned a few Columbia jackets in more sporty styles, and this one is just gorgeous by comparison. It has a lovely more feminine style that I feel I could wear over dressing up, but it is just as warm and waterproof as my sporty Columbia jackets, if not more! I am 5'2" and 150 lbs and somewhere between a pear or hourglass shape, so sometimes long jackets are tight in the hips and big at the top/waist. This one does not have that problem. I got a Medium and it fits well with room for a sweater/fleece underneath. My fave feature is the waist has cinching cords! This gives it a more feminine dressy look, but also surprised me to make the jacket warmer too! When you cinch those cords in close to your waist it snugs the whole jacket closer to your torso which allows less space for cold air to get in. I felt significantly warmer with it cinched, so consider that a pro tip! It took me a minute to figure out how to cinch it though, so maybe I can save others that struggle... The draw cords are located inside the zippered hand pockets, just below the pocket zipper, on the inner seam. The versatility of 2 jackets in one is amazing too. The inner layer is a cute warm puffer style jacket on it's own (with thumb holes!). And the outer layer's fur trim is removable, which converts the outer shell into the perfect spring/fall rain jacket. I am totally in love with this jacket. Highly recommend!

I snowshoe daily in the winter with my dogs. My old Columbia interchange jacket served me well the last 15 years but it was time to replace it. I wanted a jacket that covered my butt, lots of pockets, double pull zipper, not bulky, water and wind repellent. Having studied all the Columbia jackets/coats , I settled on this one. It has plenty of pockets, covers my butt, you can zip from the bottom up for freedom of movement. I don’t wear the liner when hiking, too warm. The liner is nice tho, being the Omni therm fabric. The one thing I’m not crazy about is the hood. Although I want a hood on my coat, I’d rather it was removable and I wish it wasn’t lined with a pile type fabric. Why? Because if you aren’t wearing the hood when it’s snowing, snow collects on that fabric and should you decide to use the hood later, it’s damp and full of snow. Maybe there is some way to sort of squish the hood down when not in use.... other than that, I’m happy with it. Oh, one other thing. They used a #3 coil zipper for the front and I think a #5 plastic tooth would hold up better. I’ll probably replace it in the future when it breaks.

I bought this coat last winter for walking around my college campus in Northern Utah and it is very warm! I was usually sweating by the time I got to class after just walking a few blocks. That was normally in about 20 degree weather. It took a minute to warm up in it because the lining was cold if you didn't have a sweater on, but that isn't a big problem. This is great for snow and blizzard type weather! The coldest temp i wore it in was 5 degrees Fahrenheit and it was plenty warm with a sweater underneath.

I bought this jacket to be the outermost layer for my winter outfits. I tried it on today and I love the fit, the quality, and the warmth. I live in Texas and while our winters do not compare to northern winters, I think this jacket is insulated and durable. I am 5'6, 150 lbs, and I ordered a large to make sure this would fit over any layers. It's the perfect fit for outerwear!

I can't yet comment on performance in the cold as it hasn't been worn for that purpose yet. I can say I'm 5'5" and 140lbs I ordered a M. It's a snug fit, not tight, just feels a little snug, especially the arms. I like the design and I'm excited to have it for winter in Alaska.

This coat combo replaces all my coats and keeps me warm and dry at the bus stops in the morning. I have not needed to wear both layers yet, since I have a nice Columbia insulated vest to wear with the outer layer. The sleeve closures are a plus on those wet windy mornings! And you can wear with or without the fur trim depending on the time of year. Rain, wind, snow, no problem. Such a practical, well made, addition to my closet.

I wore this interchange jacket while wearing a heavyweight sweatshirt. With the heavy sweatshirt on, it was a little more fitting but definitely not tight. It was still very comfortable, and I could move my arms and zip it easily. I am 5'5" & weigh 120 lbs. I ordered the size medium in black cherry. The color is prettier than I expected. The jacket comes to my mid-thigh. This is a warm jacket and I am very pleased with my purchase.

I returned Item it was to big. I ordered L . I have other things from Columbia L size and are ok. This one is roomy. I am size like between M and L so I think M would be better fit. Didn't try to order M becouse I choose diffrent down jacket finally and L was good fit. I thikn you need to order size down if you are between sizes. I liked that it was good lenght. Not short not long. Between.

I love this jacket. It does run a bit small so I had to return the first one and reorder. I got it in the correct size and I love it. It replaces 2 winter coats and I love the quality and all the pockets which will allow me to shop without carrying any purses! Yea!

This jacket is great, it's not puffy and I feel I can move my arms freely around. I've bought jackets in the past that immobilized my arms, this jacket is different! The Omn-heat does a great job of keeping me warm but not sweaty!

I LOVE Columbia coats. I have been buying them for over 20 years. I have bought them for each member of my family as well as for my daughter in law that moved from Florida to West Virgina and couldn't find a coat warm enough. The coats wear well and layers can be added or removed for the need. I like that the hood can also be sized to fit the head to allow a hat or not. I have washed the coats in a washing machine, dried them and then sprayed them with fabric water repellent.

This coat is amazing. Rugged but beautiful, excellent stitching and quality. The liner is super warm. I was a little confused with all the buttons, snaps, zippers and all closures-there are just a lot of them. I keep the liner detached, it is really warm and I haven't needed it yet. I'll be glad for it though. Really happy with it. Size was a little snug, but okay anyway.

I do a lot of camping . Many times I find I have a jacket that is not good enough for different weather episodes that can happen in a weekend. This jacked is versatile and comfortable. I really like the ability to take out the inner jacket for lighter weather and the outer shell for the much cooler weather. Pockets are deep. Like the thumb holes for the inner jacket. Very comfortable!!

I decided to upgrade to this coat from the regular Carson Pass jacket and I am 100% glad that I did. The fit is much better and the interior removable jacket provides an extra layer of warmth. It is also well cut for wearing alone. Love all the zipper pockets and the removable faux fur trim. I most definitely recommend this coat.
