I am from Wisconsin, 5'10", 187#, average build, 64 yrs old. I ordered a large and it fits comfortably with just a little extra room. I also ordered a medium and it fit exactly, maybe even a little small and returned it. I've been wearing it in 40ish degree weather with only a t-shirt (save one day). It has been sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy and some snow, and I have been quite comfortable.
The draw cord would be better placed at the sides as opposed to adjacent to the bottom of the zipper. The draw cord is in the pockets and a little annoying when hands are in the pockets. The side pockets zippers require deliberate motion to zip. Also a loop for hanging the coat would be nice unless the information tag is intended for that. A two way zipper would add to functionality.
The material is nice and quiet with movement as opposed to nylon type jackets. The modified storm collar is nice to and a main reason I chose this jacket. I like the lining as opposed to fleece. Hood seems fine and sized appropriately. The inside cuff at wrist is nice, not to tight but seems effective.
Hope this has been helpful.

Great coat for the cold Michigan months! Very lightweight and comfortable. I can wear a T-shirt underneath and still remain warm! I definitely recommend, worth the money.

Best NorthFace Ever. I walk ever morning rain, snow, sleet whatever the weather I’m out in it. I have many, many, rain proof jackets. All have ended up letting the rain through them. Until I got this jacket. I walked in light drizzle yesterday hour and 15 minutes 24 degrees and I was completely dry as was all the contents in my pockets. It is a heavier jacket as well. I am so pleased with this jacket. I got it because one review stated that the fabric wasn’t as noisy as other rain proof jackets I didn’t find that to be true but can live with it. I’m 5’4 and 120lbs and female and it fits wonderful. Women’s NF are usually to short in the arms for me so I go with the men’s. If you wanna be dry this is the one. I have so many name brand jackets that are supposed to be rain proof but aren’t. I hope this helps.

I'm a 180#, 6'0" male from Florida who travels to the Cleveland, OH area for business frequently. I bought a large in blue, and it fits well. I wouldn't mind it being a little more snug, but my movement is unrestricted in this one, so I put that ahead of fashion.
Being from Florida, I don't know much about warm coats other than I hate having to wear them. With a thin hoodie underneath the Apex Elevation is warm enough to keep a Florida guy (born and raised) warm on a 0° F Cleveland winter day, but somehow comfortable even when the temperature dips below 50° F in Florida. I guess it's all about layering.
It's very comfortable, and I especially appreciate the material that the concealed sleeve cuffs are made of. The material slides easily over gloves or a base layer, avoiding that uncomfortable bunching that occurs with common knit materials. The detachable hood is also a nice feature. I rarely want a hood, but it sure is nice to have if you have to go outside when the snow is falling.
I love the style of the jacket, and I get a ton of compliments when I wear it. The outer material is a somewhat robust feeling synthetic, although I'm not a particularly rough user (office duty here). The inner layer is a very slick, satiny material that glides well when moving. The fill is on the light side, but is miraculously warm. I'd say the jacket is a little heavier than it looks in the photos; mostly because the outer material is more robust than it appears. It has a kind of stiffness that smooths out wrinkles, which looks pretty cool. The zippers are a bit stiff, but I'm assuming this is to keep the wind out.

Really happy with this purchase. The jacket blocks the wind and keeps me warm on the coldest New England mornings.

I guessed to large on the size, exchanged for an XL and he said it felt like an old friend, fit perfectly, super comfortable and he loves the hood. Hasn't worn it much yet, but it sure seems to be a hit.

My husband needed a new winter jacket and this one was on sale in his size, so I ordered it. He loves it! It's raining and windy today and he wore it to the grocery store. He said it is perfect. Warm and water repellent. An added bonus is that it is very light. If you want a beautiful jacket that will keep you warm and dry this winter, this is the one to pick.

Haven't had much chance to use this jacket yet since it is August, but it is very comfortable and true to size. I can tell it will be very warm and a good coat for winter.

Can't really ask for more when purchasing a jacket. I use it for work (field work on construction sites), and it has a good balance between containing warmth and restricting movement. Occasionally, I will feel a tug when doing something with my arms, but otherwise it's a great jacket.

Bought this jacket and It arrived just in time for the last snow storm of the season. Jacket kept me warm and dry while outside. This is the third jacket I own from Northface and will definitely be buying more clothing in the future.

This is my second apex elevation jacket. My first one lasted a very long time and is still going, even after wearing it every day for years. I live in subzero temps and this jacket works great even as thin as it is, but I do wear a sweater or sweatshirt when temps are below zero. Wind blockage is amazing. Zipper on my original coat felt cheap but new one seems better. Old one had Velcro fasteners on the cuffs which no longer work. Seen some complaints that the new one needs them, but I disagree. The inner liner cinches up with your wrist so it really isn't necessary. My hood came off on the old one, but I never removed it so I really don't mind that it is permanently attached on the new one. I am amazed that a winter coat can be so light, would be hard to go back to a 3 in 1 system.

Bought this jacket visiting family during a snow storm in Washington. Lets just say it was well worth the money. I just happen to have the camouflage one.... And it works

I use this jacket as an every day jacket. Love the quality and design. It's not too heavy but also insulated enough to keep me more than warm through the winter season. Great in wet weather and windy conditions. I would be another in a different design/color pattern.

This Ian the warmest jacket I have ever owned. I cannot wear this jacket insides for extended periods because I get too hot. It is fantastic at repelling wind. IT looks stylish.
