Have had jacket for one year. I do a lot of driving through the winter and the material has abraded badly around the neck area and across the chest where the seat belt crosses. Improve the material and it's a great jacket. As it looks now it will be worn out after this winter! Too bad because I really like this jacket.

I'm "old-school", this jacket is so light weight it took me several outings in the cold (37-50 deg) before I trusted that it would be sufficiently warm enough. Cold wind tends to blow thru the grommets for the waist cinch cord while your hands are in the pockets. Speaking of pockets they a good, nice and deep. Primary reason for purchase was as liner for other shell jackets. I did not get hoody but wish that I had...Color (Granite) is much better that the picture on the web site...was worried about being to white but its gray enough you don't look like snow bunny. Really looks good for casual wear.

I use this as a fall jacket as it is too light for the winter. Nice comfortable fit. Too expensive as all their jackets and coats are!

I use this jacket as a light to midnight packable for hiking and general wear. I think it's a good jacket except the outer shell has sustained several tears due to passing through Alaskan spruce trees that I have hiked through tore the sleeves and shoulders. I have to admit it didn't seem that hard to get through but in the past had a rain shell over coat. The jacket packs up small in pack and is generally a good three season jacket.

I have an older version of this jacket (circa 2012) as well as the newer version and I much prefer the older version. The older version has the elastic cuff at the very end of the sleeves which is typical of most jackets. They switched to putting the elastic cuff about an inch from the end so that, presumably, your wrists and first part of the hands stay warmer. Girls probably love this but this dude does not. It interferes with your watch and your shirt cuffs and gives the sensation of the sleeve being too short. It is awful. I also think that they are putting fewer thermoballs in the jacket as the newer version does not seem as puffy or as warm as the older version of this jacket. I feel like I have been subject to a "bait and switch". North Face, please go back to your original design and stick with it. Please!

Got this jacket in black, on black friday sale, yet expensive! Gifted this to my husband. He loves it!! Says, great jacket. Keeps warm. Definitely wind and water resistant. Was careful and followed all wash/care instructions and after wash it was still in good shape but after a low dry for 30mins setting, it felt different. He tried it on and said its shorter and shrunk by an inch or more. This is not the first jacket from TNF but the first thermoball, much needed for NE winter! Sadly, will be taking it back to the store this weekend. Not sure if their warranty will be effective :(

I bought this Thermoball Full Zip as a winter jacket to be worn with a sweater or sweatshirt. When I unpacked it I was surprised as just how light the jacket is. As with many North Face jackets, this one can fold into it's pocket and I presume based on weight it would be very easy to pack into a suitcase or carry with you. There were two things I didn't like about this jacket: (1) there is no internal pocket, which always bothers me. Even on a jacket this thin and light, I think a simple internal zip is a critical feature. (2) I am a reliable "size small" and this jacket fit very nicely with the singular exception of the arms. The length was ok, but the bicep area of the arm was almost oversized. at 5'9" and 140lbs the arms were comically huge. Like, cylindrically huge. Maybe if I had John Cena's arms on my body they would have fit perfectly... I don't know. I ended up returning the jacket and finding another North Face jacket that I liked every more. I can't recommend this jacket, but I do recommend The North Face.

Other than the issues with the return and the zippers, it's a nice looking jacket.

The color I picked got me a lot of compliments, however the cuffs did not have good elastic: therefore there was to much loose area there and it did not have a chest pocket, having said that if Northface would address that I would have been very happy with this jacket.

Love the look but not as warm as I thought. Also I think I should've got a medium. Maybe it's warmer the closer to your body. A light jacket for fall and early spring but to thin for a winter coat.

Well I bought it for myself. In the pic it looked much thicker but when I got it it was extremely thin so I had to return it but I do plan on getting another one that is slightly thicker

Jacket material, look, etc., is good but sleeves are short and the elastic cuffs make it super uncomfortable and restrict movement. My proportions are normal so it's not an issue with being fat, skinny or having long or short legs, arms or body.

Great for around town use. Do not use it in the mountains or brush up against anything remotely rough. It will tear the jacket and north face will make you pay to repair it.

North Face Thermoball jackets look great, but we stopped buying them. Things get sweaty and dirty after a while. If washed (as outdoor fans we perfected down-, neoprene-, and active shell washings with special detergents and cycle use) the filling clumps up between the stitching in little balls and cannot be fluffed up ever again. Like felt balls, stitched into tiny envelopes. A real problem.

I am no longer able to find a North Face Jacket that fits properly. I hate the new "slim fit" version. I wore an XL before and it fit perfectly everywhere. The XL in the slim fit is not comfortable, so I went up to a XXL and it is too big and the sleeves are way way way too long. It seem the company's are are always replacing perfect with something less perfect. I find that to be true with most brands.

this is my second thermal ball I have ones the first one for 5 years plus which is a xl and fits great, I guess the new ones are snug fit, but then xxl is to big weird. other than the sizing amazing coats not bulky and keeps me warm. it last as well this is the only winter jacker I have owned for the last 5 years.

The cut of this jacket around the upper back and shoulders is a little snug. I'm 5'4" and have some lean athletic bulk, but by no means am I a daily recreational climber. Mediums usually fit me perfectly. For some reason, this jacket seems to be cut for a stringbean, much less an athlete. Even as a barebones base layer I still felt it pinching around my shoulders. I've been wearing and using TNF all my life and was so excited to have an eco-friendly fill that would keep me warm even when wet. I'm sad to have to return it.

I ordered this jacket online and really enjoy the fit of it. I have a similar jacket made by a company that rhymes with Caledonia. While that one does not fit as well the jacket is fully lined. The biggest annoyance is that the sleeves are not lined. Normally not an issue as on cold days you probably have a long sleeve shirt on. However, there have been a few times where I grab the jacket to run some trash outside or something like that and it feels odd to have the seam rub against my skin. Just something to keep in mind. I probably would not order it again.
