FIrst time buying and trying a pair of Salomon's. My boss in Alaska swears by them (Quest GTX's) and always insisted I try a pair myself ("worth the price and your feet will thank you" he'd always tell me). I gotta admit they are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and they are very true to size (right on the money). The moment I tried them on and laced them up I fell in love with them and felt the price was definitely justified.
I've had these for two and a half weeks and take them to work everyday (lots of standing and my feet don't get tired at all like with other previous shoe brands so that's the positive so far)
Unfortunately the negatives have started to outweigh the positives. I bought this pair because of the "GORE -TEX Insulation" and because of it's "Grip". Weather these past couple weeks has been ranging from high 30's to high 40's and the boots don't seem to stay as warm as I had expected. I switched to wool socks and polypropylene and it's slightly better but if they barely get wet from walking on wet grass or light rain they start to get really cold again. Because I love the fit and how comfortable they are I've started using toe warmers and they do help but only a bit, I guess I have serious doubts these boots will keep me warm once temperatures drop below 32.
I was also surprised that they don't grip as good as I thought they would, had a few minor slips already (definitely not grippy like my Xtra Tuffs in Alaska) so that's another unfortunate negative, you might want to be careful if the sole gets wet.
For being my first Salomon purchase overall I think the strengths of these boots are: Very true to size, super comfortable, and I really loved the color/boot pattern-design (awesome look)
Negatives: Don't hold up to cold weather that well, not as waterproof as expected (even with Gore-Tex), more slippery than expected.
If you live in a area where it's not very cold, doesn't snow, and don't expect to be in a lot of rain and/or wet conditions 100% buy these and ignore the "negatives"
No doubt I'm buying Salomon again and I expect to be making more purchases soon in the near future. Hands down one the most comfortable shoes my feet have ever felt and they're worth the price for how comfortable they are. I think I'll just put these aside for casual wear instead of work and I'll be buying the regular Quest GTX for Spring-Summer-Fall and find something different for working in the Winter/Snow/Rain conditions.

I am are Salomon's fan I have more products of Salomon. The shoes are comfortable and have the correct size. But....
I bought this pair of shoes on September 16 and used for hiking up Mount Robson. On September 22-25, I was exposed to rain and snow. On a rainy day, my feet are wet on a snowy day at -6 temperatures, I wore 2 pairs of merino wool socks and add Gaiters cover. My feet were cold, and on 27-29 September I went to Mount Assiniboine, temperatures from -6 to -15. I wore 2 pairs of merino wool socks and add Gaiters cover but my feet were always cold. On September 30, I hiking to the Lake Agnes Trail, at Lake Louise. The trail is wet and snowy. I slipped almost all the way and fall 3 times. On 1-3 October, I visited the Banff national park. Sometimes wading to the river about 1.5 to 2 inches high. I found that water seeped into the seam of the shoe and the edge of the sole.
I think this shoe is only suitable for walking in the city. Not suitable for outdoor activities

Purchased these about 4 weeks ago based in my great experience with Quest Ultra A3 hiking boots. Needed more warmth for snowshoeing. Worst experience breaking them in. Fit was OK but stiffness of uppers particularly the support structure along top of boot was painful. Finally has to cut the band. OK now but too much of a hassle
