Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
This a great jacket. I like that it is Gore-Tex, I know that it will keep me dry. The style is nice for my city life!

I bought this coat because it did not have a hoodie. I love the fit, the look, and the fact that it is good for wet rainy and cooler weather typical in the Great Lakes region.

I needed a professional coat that would offer true protection from the elements and I'm so happy I chose the Nila trench. The styling is sharp and minimalist and I'm loving the navy, though truth be told, if the grey was still available I might have bought that colour. Please carry all colours through the seasons! In terms of fit, I'm a pear shape and was worried it wouldn't be roomy enough through the hips but the fit works very well on me. The jacket is really lightweight and thanks to a brutally cold and wet September, I can attest that the protection it offers from wind, rain and snow is beyond compare. I prefer that it is hoodless - all classic trenchcoats are. I carry a toque and mini umbrella and that's carried me through. I have two complaints: 1) the pockets aren't designed to be able to walk with your hands in them, which I like doing, and 2) the coat doesn't slide over some of my trousers and jeans, making it bunch up in the front when I'm walking. This is pretty annoying and could be solved with the insertion of a liner, however, that would compromise the weight and then it wouldn't truly be a performance shell either. Things to consider for city-wear though. Also, the arms are very long on me and I'll have to have the sleeves hemmed.

I chose this trench specifically because it didn't have a hood. There are so many other Arcteryx jackets that have hoods but I wanted something that was stylish made with a technical material. I'm replacing a Patagonia trench that I had for about 8 years. It had a detachable hood that I promptly took off and never put back on. I preferred that look and just carried an umbrella when I thought it would rain. I look forward to many years of wearing this trench.

I travel between Seattle and Victoria BC where we have a lot of wind and rain. I have the Patera parka, and just recently got the Imber. Love them both! Please add a hood to this otherwise great coat and I will buy two of them! Thanks!

So love this coat! Really well done as always. What is keeping me from buying it is that it has no hoody that can be attached. Have already been looking for a rainhat in your collection but cannot find it. Would recommend the coat to people who do not mind getting hair and face wet. Four stars for the coat and the one missing star is for the hoody missing. Keep up the good work though; love your products.

I wanted to add my vote to the 'hood' comments in case it spurs a design change! This a gorgeous jacket, and I loved it, but I did not buy it on account of no hood. I am looking for a trench to replace an old stylish rain coat that I wear to work. I already have two amazing technical pieces (an older NorVan and an newer Alpha), but also need a long, classy jacket for urban life in beautiful rainy BC. A minor comment is that the double-breasted snaps are a little fiddly...

Beautifully designed trench raincoat with sleek lines. (A new classic trench.) Fabric is beautiful. Fit corresponds with measurements provided by designer/manufacturer. Implementation impeccable. However...the sole purpose of a raincoat that incorporates Gore-Tex is to ensure one stays dry through a torrent of rain. Period. The question is: Since the heavy guns provided by Gore-Tex were used to keep the body completely dry, why would anyone design a raincoat to permit the head to get wet? I knew of this flaw but purchased regardless. I was focused on the beautiful design. Unfortunately this was too large and long for my petite body. Will you consider a petite category of sizing? Sadly this was returned.
