These are perfect shoes for men/women who need a shoe with a wider toe box. This is the first time I have worn Gola shoes, having worn Nike, New Balance, and many others in the past. I put about 8 pairs of shoes of varying brands in my "Favorites" list on Zappos before I chose the Varsity. What sold me on these shoes was the shape and width of the toe box. It was clear from the the product photos' overhead view that the toe box was wider (hence, more likely to fit well on me) than most of the others with the exception of one in this category (Dockers). My shoe size for many years in leather dress shoes has been 11.5 D. But as I have gotten older, I have found that I get the best fit and most comfort from either an 11.5 E or a 12 D. Since the Varsity was on sale in a medium (D) width, I ordered size 12. They arrived the other day and as soon as I began wearing them, I found them comfortable. It is remarkable to begin wearing a brand new pair of shoes and in a few short minutes forget entirely that you are wearing unworn shoes. Arch support is superlative in this casual sneaker. The Gola line, including the Varsity, reminds me of the old PF Flyers I wore as a kid. (If you know what these are, you are surely dating yourself! :) I recommend these shoes for persons who have difficulty finding casual sneakers that have a wider toe box.

I am a 10.5 and have a wide foot. These size 11 Gola fit great! They lack arch support but some $9 inserts from the store fix that. For the price it is a sporty and comfy shoe.

These are a little bit thicker than I wanted, but for the price I think they're great. Very comfortable for walking around the city.

The shoe is a very basic tennis shoe. Expect to feel every pebble and every surface you're walking on, as you're on just the layer of rubber for the sole. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it's just not worth the pain, IMO. Get these shoes, there's nothing wrong with them, just don't expect comfort or support or anything more than the feeling that you're walking kinda barefoot. Still stylish and cool and great house shoes or maybe slightly-dressier affair shoes, just make sure you're fine in your foot health beforehand, because they won't aid in keeping your feet healthy.

The quality is good, the style is good, but don't expect this to offer you any comfort or support. It's like wearing socks, basically. Cool style though

I really wanted to love these but the soles wore down incredibly fast! I walk a lot living in NYC so that is a big problem for me. Within 2 months the soles were basically tread-less. The style on these shoes are stellar and they are a decent casual sneaker overall, but I'm just bummed they didn't last!

I wanted to like these more than I did. The style is pretty nice which is why I got them, but upon putting them on I felt like I was wearing some big guy's shoes. My foot was swimming in there even though the length was fine (I took other's advice and ordered 1 size up). Even with the laces all cinched up it just wasn't a great fit. Oh... I know what it felt like... BOWLING SHOES! Not very comfortable, little arch support, rubbery plank outsole, and tons of room on the inside. Too bad :/
