Excellent fit. No tight spots. Odd lace around heel -- it is a fake! On the other hand, with boat shoes that have a lace continuing around the heel, that part of the lace really doesn't do anything as there is too much friction along the line for it to pull tight. So, no effect one way or the other. This shoe fits the heel really well.

The shoe was marked wide but I felt the toe box was too narrow. The shoe size was spot on.

Fit (wide size) and feel great. However I hate the shoestrings; I cannot keep them tied, even double! I would replace the shoestrings but it's not worth it to attempt rerunning it around the shoe. So overall I like the shoes very much but get frequently annoyed when the laces come loose! I also own two additional pairs of SAS shoes that I like very much - one is a loafer, the other ties with no lace problems!

This shoe has a rather narrow toe box compared to some other SAS styles so I had to exchange my 12 M for 12-1/2 M. Also they are not as comfortable as some of my other SAS shoes. But that said, I like them and Zappos made the exchange easy.

Ordered in my "regular" size. Length was okay but width seems too tight. This show design stretches and forms to foot typically, but was so tight didn't want to take chance and keep, so returned to exchange for the larger width, which should be arriving soon....

The shoes fit well and are comfortable. I've had them about two months, and I've worn them most weekdays during that time. In general I like how they look and feel. However, the laces untie themselves, and I find myself retying these shoes two or three times per day.
I don't like dealing with shoelaces, and I wish I had looked at the Weekenders when I was at the SAS store. I have had several pairs of deck shoes that I could easily slip on and off my feet, and when I was in the store I thought I could do that with these shoes as well. While these shoes slip off easily, they are hard to slip on.
If these shoes would stay tied, I would rate them a 4 or 5, but the inconvenience of having to retie them multiple times a day drops my rating to a 3 at most.

I have a pair of SAS sandals which I love, so I was expecting great things from the Decksider, and was very disappointed. The shoes have a very narrow toe box, so I had to exchange them for a 1/2 size larger, the soles are completely different from the sandals, and not nearly as comfortable. Had to remove the SAS inserts and replace it with Timberlands. They are not truly boat shoes, and are very slippery on wet smooth surfaces. Finally at that price point they really should have a lining.

I ordered these in a 12 D, and the toe box was tight on my feet, so I exchanged them for a 12 W, and then I was practically stepping out of them. I would have loved to have kept them, but they weren't working for me. I have a pair of SAS sandals which I consider one of my favorite pair of shoes.

There is what I consider a design flaw with these shoes. There is a tightly stitched label on the heel portion of the insole. You can see it in one of the pictures. If you have sensitive heels or heel pain this may cause you discomfort. Awhile after wearing them this causes me discomfort and I have to remove the shoes. It"s a shame because they have the extreme cushioning that I require and in my opinion are the best looking boat shoe on the market.

I have had these for a couple of Summers now. They clean up well and are well built. I am diabetic so the width is important as is the comfort.
I only one issue with the shoe and then one minor one with SAS. There is a tendency for the shoe to rub a blister on the back of the heel so make sure that you have a great fit and/or great socks.
Shoe laces.

I bought these as actual boat shoes for our sailboat with a teak deck. The leather uppers are a work of art - beautiful leather, beautifully crafted. The insole was synthetic and I found uncomfortable. But the sole was a disaster, a cheap single piece of soft foam, with bubbles in it. It wasn't sealed to the uppers, so there was a big gap to funnel water inside. Worse, the blocky design with rough ridges in it would rip the surface off a wet "silver" teak deck. Looks good if you're going to a party, but I would not call these serious boat shoes! I returned them.

Handsome and well-made shoe by appearance. Shoe size and width were fine but footbed of shoe is so lumpy and uneven-Literally unwearable

Used the other major boat shoe brand for many years with great results. Tried these as I have wore side gore style exclusively for work for 10+ years. Bought these in same size with M width. These are so tight as to make them unwearable.
Tried stretching them but no better. Very disappointed. Never needed a W size before but apparently I need to have worn these. Well made shoe, good materials but the squeeze is on!

I've bought a number of pairs of SAS shoes and this was the first pair that dissatisfied. There's no arch support; I had to buy special inserts just to make them wearable. There is little tailoring through the instep which gives the shoes a clunky appearance. The sole is soft and wears quickly.

The SAS Decksider is well below the standards of other SAS shoes that I've owned. I've owned the SAS Time Out, Bout' Time, SideGore, and Guardian, and all of them were excellent shoes. In my experience, the Decksider is too narrow in the toes compared to other SAS shoes, and the overall comfort is comparable to a higher end Converse. It doesn't take very long at all while wearing them for my feet to start to hurt. Even if the shoes were wider in the toe area, I still feel that they just aren't comfortable.

These are very nice shoes, but they are not boat shoes. Incredibly slippery when wet and not much better when dry!

I've worn boat shoes my whole life and these are by far the worst I've owned--a pity because I really love my other SAS shoes. One sole separated from the upper at the toe. Fixed that with some glue. Now one heel is almost completely worn away and the other one is going fast. I've owned these less than a year! Don't waste your money
