IMHO, aside from the Chuck Taylor All Star '70 Hi (the more expensive ones that are made to their old '70s specs with tougher canvas and thicker rubber), these Pro-Keds Royal Hi Classics are the best of the cheaper canvas hi-tops. The cheaper Chuck Taylors are flimsy, hard on your feet, and wear out too quickly, the PF Flyers Hi's look like boxy kids shoes and have super-huge ankles, but the Pro-Keds look, fit, and feel like hi-top sneakers SHOULD. I even think they look tougher than Chucks. The monochrome black ones with the blue & red stripe on the side of the black rubber combined with the bare metal eyelets give them an almost mean look. Order the same size to a half-size larger than you'd wear in a Chuck Taylor. I typically wear an 11 1/2 or 12 in most shoes and the Pro-Keds in a 12 fit me perfectly.

Wore these in the 70s as a teen loved them .The modern versions are not nearly as comfortable or sturdy. I still like and will buy more just wish they'd bring back the 70s high top I'd be more then willing to pay more. But I still dig the look of these.

This is my first-ever review on Zappos, and I’m writing it because I’m about to buy my third pair of these incredible hi-tops. My journey with them started in 2017 with my first pair, followed by my second in 2021. Today, in January 2025, I’m grabbing another—and honestly, it’s a no-brainer. These shoes last an average of four years despite enduring intense wear and tear. They've visited different countries with me, different continents, countless airports, city streets, and just about every type of terrain you can imagine. And yet, they never miss a beat. To me, they look sharper than Converse hi-tops and—more often than not—I get compliments on them from strangers wondering where they can grab a pair. 5 stars across the board. If you’re considering them, stop thinking and buy them already. Honestly, Pro-Keds should make me their brand ambassador—these shoes are that good.

If you loved the old Converse high tops, this is as close as you'll now get. Keds has taken care to replicate the look and feel: "white man's moccasins" --with a nice color palette,

The fit & size (11.5) works pretty well for me; maybe just a tad narrow, but I think the shoes will loosen sufficiently. The model seems to run a bit long. I started with a size 13, exchanged for a 12, and once again for the 11.5. They are a great-looking shoe, and less expensive than Converse. I'm happy with them. And I'm very impressed with Zappos' customer service. No problem with my two exchanges, and I now have what I want. I'd recommend both the Pro-Keds and this company to others.

The shoes felt good on my feet.

Growing up in the 50’s and 60’s All Star’s were the only way to go. Now I don’t see how as Pro Keds are better looking and of higher quality. I’m a size 11 and had to go down to a 10. It’s nice wearing a canvas hi-top that the teenage girls don’t wear.

Fit is great ( very comfortable) . Material quality is outstanding . Takes me back to the good old days !

Great throw back to my childhood because Pro Keds were all I ever wore other than dress shoes or sandals.

I feel very nostalgic wearing these sneakers. I look at them and they make me smile. I had a great childhood and spent along time in Pro Keds and PF Flyers. They look and feel great. Worth the wait.

Great quality! Was looking for a good canvas shoe to replace Chuck Taylors which fall apart and wear too fast. Fit a bit larger. I'll order a half size smaller next time. Not much arch support but that's the way these type of shoes are. Definitely recommend!

Didn't purchase from here but from Amazon instead - Pro Keds are AWESOME, if not more comfortable than Converse. I did actually buy a vintage pair off eBay prior to brand new ones, and it turns out the older manufactured Pro Keds definitely run small. A vintage 11 for mens is more like a 10.5 or 10, very tight. A 11 mens from Amazon fits PERFECTLY, width, length, toe box, everything. Converse are great, but these have thicker sole, more cushioned walk, and slightly better arch support than Chucks do. They're priced fairly higher but I think if you plan to wear these out for years it's worthwhile purchase.

I am grateful that these shoes are, in my opinion, "wider than marked". Compared to Converse hi-tops, for example (which I can hardly even get my wide feet into), these are comfortable. The foot bed is slightly spongy. The style is, well, stylin.

it’s true what they say. they run a little big. i am size 11, but next time i’m going to get a size 10 1/2.

I am a lady who typically wears a 9 or 8 1/2. I bought the 9 and the fit was good. Unfortunately I have to return these. I have plantar fasciitis and these shoes will not work for me. Too bad because I love them !

I was looking forward to something other than Converse, but I am not really that fond of Pro-Keds. They basically the same shoe and, if you want a wider shoe, these shoes seem wider. I do not think materials are notably different, but I just think that Converse is a better looking shoe.
