Normally I wear a 9.5 - 10, depending on the shoe/boot. Based on the other reviews for Frye boots I ordered the 10. They fit pretty well. With regular socks the toe is perfect, but the heel area is a bit loose. The 9.5 would have been too small in the toe box though. I was concerned that I would get a blister on my heels because at the beginning of the day they get a little sore, but as the day wears on it's fine. They aren't super comfortable yet but I think they are going to get there. They are not too tight in the calf (I think I have skinny calves) and I can easily fit a pair of jeans or leggings in and still have some room. The look is fantastic and I'm extremely happy overall with the quality and style.

LOVE LOVE these boots. Originally I ordered the extended calf but they were to wide. I normally wear a 9 in boots and the 9s were perfect for me in every way. I read on the FRYE website about sizing and they explain that the boot should slip at bit on your heel in the beginning and will stop with wear, I found this to be true. The boots were comfortable right out of the box and have gotten softer each time I wear them. They look great with everything. I even ordered any pair in black and they are perfect too....Thank you Zappo's for great prices, free shipping and returns! Makes it so easy to shop.

these literally just arrived. SO HAPPY I ORDERED... They fit PERFECT!!!! I have NOTHING bad to say at all about these boots. If you have the money they are well worth it!!!!!!

This review is more for comparison's sake between the Melissa Harness and the Phillip Harness. I am a 7.5 wide-ish foot, and I often buy an 8 to compensate. I ordered both boots in an 8. The Melissa is more refined than the Phillip Harness in a few ways. First,the leather on the Melissa is firmer, buffed with a bit of a sheen. The Melissa shaft has a seam around the equator of the calf, and a top edge that is higher on the outside as in a riding boot. The Melissa also seems to have a bit taller shaft. The Phillip shaft is a softer wrinkled leather (which I'm not really in love with) with a level top edge like a moto boot. Because of Phillip's back zipper it actually curves in a bit (similar to the shape of the calf) near the top of the zip. The Melissa harness has finish stitching along the edges (again, more refined) where the Phillip harness has a raw edge. The Melissa has only an outside harness ring due to the inside zip, where the Phillip has rings on both the inner and outer ankle. And lastly, the toe shape on the Melissa is more angled to the tip, where the Phillip is boxier thus allowing more room for toes. Shaft/calf circumference seemed about the same on both. The Phillip was roomier and softer so I felt like I could wear it all day right out of the box, comfy on a long train ride, and whatnot. Whereas with the Melissa I would have had to stretch the pinky toe area ("break them in" ugh, Boot Stretch, or take to a cobbler) before they would be comfortable. And due to the stiffness they would have to come off if I wanted to relax. Melissa is a dress boot with a slight edge due to the harness, but at the end of the day it feels/wears like a fancy lady boot. Very nicely made, quality product. Smells delicious. Box says "Made in Mexico."

i am 5'9" weigh 155#'s my shoe size is 9 narrow and never can find shoes narrow enough for my heel I ordered 9 medium in Phillip Harness Tall and with thick socks they are comfortable and narrow enough am very happy so far as this is my first day wearing them yippee!

Well worth the money. These boots are absolutely amazing. At first the one heel felt a little weird, but I wore thicker socks and once I wore them a few times, the leather stretched and all was good. Highly recommend Frye boots!

I am OBSESSED!!! I have a 2 pairs of these boots and I want MORE! Once you break them in you will be able to wear them all day without flinching. Serioulsy! The only downside is the calf is super tight. I have chicken legs (which is why i bought them in the first place) so they fit perfectly. But they may be tight if you have a nice, normal sized calf. I always wear an 8 and I got an 8. I did use a shoe horse to stretch them out a little but that's all they needed to fit just right!

I wanted this boot to be perfect, but with my large calves, the back zipper made me nervous. I had to return them, but they look amazing.

Awesome boot - very comfortable and stylish!

I normally wear a 7.5 to an 8.0 in most boots. So I ordered these in an 8.0. They felt a bit snug in the toe area, since the boots narrow a bit toward the front. I wore a thinner dress sock with them (not a nylon, but a sock) and they fit well enough to wear to work (I walk back and forth from an examination lane to the front desk all day long). Within 2 days of wear, the toe area had stretched enough that they now feel perfect (with that same type of sock that I wear to work). If I wanted to wear a warmer, thicker sock, I would have to upgrade to an 8.5. So I would say buy these in a minimum 0.5 size bigger. They are not too narrow in the mid-food or heel, just narrow toward the toe at first. All of that said, I love these boots!

I have been looking at this boot for a while and finally decided to buy it when it was on sale. I love the style and color. However, I ordered the same size as all of my other Fryes which fit me well and this one was too small.

This boot didn't arrive in a Frye box. Instead, it arrived in an oversized, unmarked brown box, and contained an extra cardboard bootshaft form, as though from a third boot. One boot was constructed of unmatched leather, the bottom of the boot is a different color than the top. For the price, the leather should at least match. I'm not sure what was going on with the packaging here, but these also appear to be from someone else's return as they did not arrive in the original box. I hope no one else ends up with this dud pair! I'm afraid to exchange these since this was really weird and not at all what I expect from zappos.
