I ordered the Singi down jacket in a medium, my usual size, and found it to be snug in the shoulders. I ultimately returned the jacket and purchased a large, which fits through the shoulders but kind of swims on me otherwise. With the draw cords cinched, it looks odd but I’m sure it will be warm. I was between this jacket and an Obermeyer. The Obermeyer had cuffs at the wrist to keep snow and cold out, while the Singi has Velcro cuffs. The Obermeyer also had a snap opening in the back to add for some mobility, another feature I liked. I did not care for the pockets on the Obermeyer and ultimately went with this coat based on the goose down being a better insulator, the fleece lined pockets that were easy to access and large enough to hold camera lenses in a pinch, and the exterior material is waterproof and wind resistant, so less likely to get wet and keep you cold. Also, the hood on this jacket is really beautiful. Everything is a give and take. I think I will be happy with this coat when I test it out in Yellowstone this winter. To note, I tried Canada Goose and Parajumper as well. Happiest with this.

This jacket definitely runs a bit on the smaller side. If you're looking to layer it with baselayer + a sweater, go one size up. For a down parker with 600 fill power, it is surprisingly slimming although for some odd reason on me the jacket sits somewhat unevenly. Also, do note that you need to apply wax on the fabric first or else it is not waterproof at all.

While Fjallraven’s smallish backpacks have become quite popular with kids and teens, I have found that only a few folks besides skiers know about the great quality of Fjallraven’s clothing, specially its line of jackets. Worn for nearly a year in NJ climate, and this jacket, a pair of Zamberlan hiking boots, plus a few sets of good gloves and maybe a scarf are all the outer garments you would ever need to weather a winter here. Tough material, very solid build quality, water repellant, wind resistant, really warm, great hood, well-insulated and well-placed pockets. Compares favorably to my Canada Goose Level 3 insulated jacket at 2/3 the price, and it’s perhaps even a bit warmer. Fits true to size. Size 10, normal build, L fits perfectly.

While I didn’t keep the jacket, it is really nice in design with a relatively flattering silhouette. However, if you are pear shaped (higher waist and wider hips),the waistline of this jacket is going to look strange on you and the drawstrings won’t help. In terms of fit, go with the size chart if you are only looking to wear a baselayer, and go one size up if you plan on layering.

Great color in the red. Attractive, warm coat. Because I am petite, the arms were long in the small. An XS would be too tight in the chest I’m afraid.

This is a beautiful color but was a bit too stiff for my liking and also a bit too big. I think the size down would probably be too tight. Nice jacket though.
