I’ll admit, I normally buy all my shoes at Zappos, but happened to find this shoe locally while I was out window shopping with a friend. I have very difficult feet to find shoes (hallux rigidus in my big toes), and these shoes in the “regular width” are a great fit, and don’t pinch my very sensitive big toes. And they’re really cute in the soft red color. They remind me of the look of Converse, only with Birkenstock comfort!! I think my feet look smaller than they do in other shoes too, another bonus! I wear the Smartwool Hide and Seek hidden socks with these, so I’ve had no issues with rubbing. Until they’re broken in, I won’t even attempt barefoot because these shoes, after all, are canvas and canvas always needs socks in the beginning!!

I love my Birks! I have worn them for 30 years. I was so excited about this style and the possibility of wearing them to the gym. However... The tongue gets in the way and shifts uncomfortably. There is no loop on the tongue to keep it in place. I wish these came without the tongue and in a style that did not require tying laces. Perhaps the worst part is the poor internal finishing. The threads are not smooth and the seams are not smooth which means that they rub raw various points on my feet.

These were so cute and made my feet look cute and small, which I loved. I tried the white leather pair in both a 41 and a 42. Both fit, but the heel in back was SO stiff that I could feel blisters in the making even while trying them on. For the price, they really need to be much more comfortable and wearer friendly straight out of the box. Sadly, they had to go back. Hopefully, Birkenstock will listen to reviews and work on this problem.

Footbed feels just like a Birkenstock Sandal (which I absolutely LOVE), but the heel of the shoe is a bit too low and cuts into my heel....so, unfortunately, these will be returned.

Cute, cute shoe. Roomy toe box, but not too bulky looking. Unfortunately, the back of the shoe tried to eat a hole in my heel, and that was with socks. Didn't even get a full lap around the house before I had to get them off. Bummer. Heel slipped too.

I LOVE these shoes...BUT they have gotten some bad reviews and here's why: they take a good 2-3 weeks to break in. You know how your new Birkenstock sandals felt like you were walking with a couple of boards strapped to your feet at first? Same with these, plus you have to break in the leather too. Yes, the tongue will feel stiff at first and might rub the front of your ankle. Yes the heel cup will have to soften. But trust me, stick it out over those first couple of weeks and magically, one day, you will realize that they feel CUSTOM MADE FOR YOU! I can even wear mine barefoot. The sole is super durable, the leather will keep your feet dry in the rain. I have had mine for two years, have worn them almost every day (for work, for play) and they are just now getting a bit worn down in the sole...but they still have plenty of life left! I did switch out the firmer insole that comes with them for the softer version, at my local Birkenstock shop.

Liked the shoe, but very stiff.Being stiff it rubs on my hammertoes.

I am a faithful Birks wearer and was very excited for the Aran Black leather. I was extremely bummed that the arch felt out of place. Like I had an egg in my shoe. Sadly, I returned them. For $200 they better be Birkenstock wonderful and these were not.

I bought them in the red canvas and they're super cute! I was happy to find a sneaker that had a stiffer sole - that's what my feet need. It's very much the typical Birkenstock footbed. Not enough arch support to wear if I'll be on my feet all day, but fine for a typical day's wear.
