I was hesitant about spending the money but I am SOOOO happy I did. I love my bag. The compartments are great and the size is perfect. Being a teacher, I need a high quality bag that can fit whatever I need and this bag does that. Highly recommend.

A friend, who has had one of these bags since 2004, recommended this brand to me for an upcoming trip. I originally ordered the small (color Toxic) so I could use this daily to carry my ipad & everyday work needs. Loved the color and quality of the bag. And I have since been using it daily. Not sure who has been saying this doesn't have a lot of pockets - it has plenty of big and little pockets. I've since ordered a medium (something that can hold a larger laptop) in Red, which was the color I initially wanted but was sold out. Either way, I now have a small and medium bag in different colors so, depending on the day's needs, I can bounce between the two. I very much like the company's stand on backing their product for a lifetime and trying to refurbish old bags for those in need in lieu of them ending up in landfills. Not a huge fan of the velcro, but over time I grew to overlook it. There are times I'm lazy and don't clip up my bag and the velcro makes it nice to just slap the cover and go. I think the biggest selling point to me is the padded shoulder strap. That thing is wonderful. As a woman, anatomically speaking, the padded strap keeps the bag from shifting around uncomfortably; though they do offer a secondary smaller strap to anchor the bag in place say if I were riding a bike. Anyway, love my toxic green and can't wait to see my wine red and use them both.

Just what I was looking for. The perfect size for my 13" mac book pro and the odds and ends I drag back and forth to work. I like the inside bottle pouches and the water resistance.

I've been looking for a great bag for taking to work at the hospital. I see many nurses with open topped bags packed full of stuff. I wanted something I could close and keep secure, not open like a tote. I also looked for a bag that was wide enough to fit a pair of shoes if I need to throw in a dirty pair, extra scrubs, book, nalgenes, etc. This bag (medium size) is perfect weight, comfortable strap, and width for supplies I need. It is segmented into 2 compartments, one wide (can fit my danskos), an extra pair of scrubs, novel, etc and a slimmer one for tablet, computer, papers, folding clipboard, etc. The outside is water resistant and the inside a water resistant material that is easy to wipe off. I wanted something helpful to keep things dry in the winter from car to hospital but I also wanted something easy to clean!! There are many things I do not want sticking around if my bag comes in contact with them! This bag is easy to clean and can keep things contained on the inside. The only downfall for me personally is the size of the pockets. There are 3 small ones on the outside under the flap, 2 zipped, 1 is an open pocket. They are great for small non-bulky items but my keys barely fit and my phone (in otterbox) does not. On the inside there are 2 water bottle pockets on either side of the main compartment. I use Nalgene bottles so they will not fit but these pockets look like they could barely fit a 12oz plastic disposable bottle, so I used it for my pens instead. There are small open side pockets on the inside front flap that can be used for small non bulky things (my scissors) and a "secret pocket" behind those I use for my wallet and phone. I'm not one to like clutter so the smaller pockets help me to minimize things I tote around between work and home. I really enjoy the bag and how functional it is. Day 2 with the bag I was given great compliment and recommended the bag, she started looking into a bag for herself that night!

I just reviewed this as a nursing bag and I stated the front pockets were too small for my phone, I would like to change this and say that the large front zip pocket fits my phone perfectly, and keys in the other zipped pocket. Outside pockets are good, inside pockets are the ones that seemed a little small for me.

Love the color, overall design, comfort and durability. One product design recommendation would be to either eliminate the Velcro strips under the flap (and just rely on the straps/plastic snaps) or reverse the Velcro so that the soft fuzzy side is on the bag face and the prickly part is under the flap. Now the prickly side faces out, so if flap is not all the way down I snag my sleeves and/or flank/hip area if I accidentally put the bag on with the flap side facing my body when I'm in a rush. I love the bag, just wish the design could be modified a bit to avoid snagging my clothes.

I purchased the classic in burgendy in size small. Love the bag. I've been using it daily the past few weeks. It's the perfect size to have as a daily and have received quite a few compliments on the bag.

After looking at several other bags this size, I found this bag to be perfect for several uses, especially traveling. I already have Timbuk2 medium and small messenger bags. This extra small bag is a perfect addition to my collection. I travel with my medium bag on a plane or by car because it has enough compartments and space for all my initial travel needs. However, once at my destination, I use my extra small bag, which was packed in my suitcase. It is small enough to be comfortable and light so not to be combersome touring , shopping, or walking around. But it is large enough to carry essentials like my wallet, sunglasses, eyeglasses, and minor needs. I love my Timbuk2 messenger bags.

I purchased size M which is big for 13inch laptop, so S would be perfect, but my main aim was for traveling. It is very comfy lots of space to put whatever you need.

The last one of these I bought held on fo 16 years in heavy rotation and beyond faded color and a few stains it was still going strong when I purchased this a month ago. These bags take a beating! Since I know they are up to the challenge I purchased this one as my diaper bag/ purse while on maternity leave. The small size accommodates all the accessories I want to drag around while managing not to look bulky and is pedestrian enough in presentation that it goes with most of my casual outfits. Once I'm back to work this will be my commuting bag again. It's got all the necessary spots for the usual suspects like a computer, wallet, lunch and metro card. I should mention they hold up great in the elements - really a commuters best friend!

The large bag can carry large boxes and compact to a small size for small loads. I am a former SF bike messenger. The large bag is perfect for a "gravy dog"!

I went through college with this bag and traveled extensively with it. I worked with it in the freezing cold and the blazing hot. Been on several planes with it and various conditions. I've left it in an airport and the floor of a steel mill. It stays clean and never seems to break it. I've carried very heavy books for several weeks in it and only a laptop at other times; It never seems to show weathering. I've gotten 6 years out of it and ill prolly get another 10 out of it. It is honestly the best bag I've ever bought.

I love this bag, it's extremely well made. The only things I might change would be putting a zipper on top of the main compartment and add swivels to the strap so the strap won't get twisted up as much.

I decided to take a chance on this when my previous messenger bag was literally busting at the seams. After going for the Large size, I was concerned it would be too big. No such worries, as this amazing companion can fit my coffee thermos, water bottle, laptop, multiple folders, and all of my personal accessories without ANY problems. It's built like a tank, and the adjustment strap makes it a breeze to keep the bag close to the body for bike trips. I've already spilled on it - whoopsie, but no problem. Wiping it down right away was extra easy and it still looks brand new. The $100 price tag is well worth a piece of quality equipment such as this.

My son has used another high quality bag since he started pre-k. He is now 6'1" and the other brand did not offer larger messenger bags. They also had too many pockets for my son. He would loose things. This bag is more rugged, with a longer, more comfortable strap that is placed well on the bag. Plenty of usable pockets but does not over do it. Classic style and large enough to carry everything he needs. We purchased the large size so he would have enough room for a lunch box and a jacket. Glad I found this quality bag. It is definitely worth spending the money for a bag that will be used for years to come rather than replacing one every year or more often. I wish I had one for myself.

Great bag and perfect size for me. Good amount of pockets for pens and stuff. Fits my 13" MacBook perfectly. My very only concern is that it doesn't have enough cushion. Wish it had A bit on both sides of the laptop. Other than that. Solid bag and am very happy with purchase. 5 stars

My wife works at conventions and conferences. She is only allowed to carry a plain black bag within certain size limits and with no large logos. We have always loved Timbuk2 and this bag met all the restrictions. Perfect size for the variety of things she needs.

Absolutely perfect. I was afraid the medium might be too small but turned out to be just what I need. Top quality, durable, and able to comfortably carry all the things I bring to school. Excellent.

It rains pretty regularly in the Northeast (for a Californian) and I am primarily a pedestrian and occasional cyclist, who prefers a rain jacket over an umbrella. I have a cover for my backpack but didn't have a good around town solution for rainy days when I don't need the full load. This bag is wonderful, lots of little well thought out features like the grab handles on top and bottom, the velcro all the way across so your bag stays shut even if you over fill it. Just the right number of slots and pockets for daily life. And it works like a charm keeping everything dry in the rain. Love it!

This bag is excellent for consolidating the number of "Dad's got to bring" items for various day trips, running errands, going to kids' ball games, etc. I finally have a way to carry some extras, such as a water bottle, a snack, an e-reader (with charger), notebook, etc, or stash a sweater, without having to wear a knapsack or carry a briefcase. My only quibble is that I seem to have an "out of norm" desire for a color that's neither "too business" nor "too flashy." That's why I waited, and waited, and waited for 'Army Green' to be available at my price point. If Timbuk2 had this available in khaki colored fabric, I'd have bought it sooner.

I commute on two wheels, and selected this bag for its water-resistance, comfort, and durability. I've also been pleased by the amount of stuff I can cram in it. The compression straps are fantastic, and keep me from looking like a turtle the way I did with a backpack.

I use this bag to run around town with (either on my bike, or simply going out). I generally use it to carry layers (jacket, etc), along with stuff I might pick up from light grocery or other shopping. While I use the medium messenger for carrying a change of clothes (when cycling to work or going to the gym), along with other things like lunch, the small size is much better for me when not needing a change of clothes. As with all other Timbuk2 bags, this is exceptionally well made and has great compartments to separate out your smaller items.
