I had been looking for a very waterproof jacket that doesn't look like a sporty ski jacket and has good length. Length because I hate bending over to pick something up and getting rain down my crack. Style because I plan on wearing it around the city as well as out on hikes. Does not look or feel plasticy. And waterproof because I live in Oregon. This jacket is perfect and fits all my needs.

I live on salt water. Frequent wind, some fog, good deal of rain. The coat is long enough to keep dry to mid thigh. Hood is a must and I use it a lot.

I wore this jacket last Friday and it was raining and wind was blowing hard! No need to seek shelter! I stayed dry! :-)

We've been looking for a quality jacket to buy for office workers. Being a safety specialist, we have to be out in the elements at times. This parka is great because it covers you low enough to where you can sit down in a wet area and you dont have to worry about getting your pants wet. The wind is no longer an issue. The Gortex cut that problem out of the equation.

Bought this to use for both skiing and regular day to day city use. The coat is long, but the bottom zips up to make sitting on the lift or the subway easier. It worked well in 15 degree skiing as well as commuting to work. No inner pockets make the coat a little lighter and smoother. The description says there are pit zips, but there are not.

This jacket fits really nice and texture is really nice. Not a typical rain jacket. Thanks with Gortex quality.

Great jacket especially for urban everyday use. First week used to walk about 3/4 of a mile in March 2 2017 nor'easter. Stayed very dry and some what warm, but not really an insulating coat. Only 2 minimal complaints 1)the zipper on the pocket consealing the hood should be a double sliding zipper as it is a little difficult to open with one zipper while wearing. 2) the Velcro on the sleeve should be longer or placed differently to securing a more snug fit to lockout wind. The flap is left dangling as it could caught on something and tear very easily. Otherwise very nice jacket very glad I purchased!

Pretty unique piece - all the benefits of a soft shell, but with the benefits of a hard shell. Not much to cover beyond what other reviewers have said on here other than to confirm just how bad the zipper is on this coat. Hard to connect and jams near the neck - not remotely close to the quality of other TNF products or the rest of the jacket. I'm 5'10 and 165, bought a large on purpose in-store for room over a suit jacket (40R).

I wear this in Seattle, very wet and windy weather on occasions. Jacket keeps me dry. It dries quickly as well. It is a shell but I have plenty of room for layers underneath it. I do work outside from time to time and this is my goto. I wear this casually often and for work. It's a sharp jacket. I wear medium in all Northface items, this one is medium as well and a great fit. I would deff. buy another one.

Exactly what I was looking for in a technical parka!; but wish medium was closer to my version of medium (5’10, 165) as sleeves are a little long and body is a bit bulky

I finally used this in the rain and when I got inside I could shake most of the water off. I have to see how this jacket holds up in the long term but first impressions are this jacket is great. I'm supposed to be a small but I had to get a Medium. It isn't bad but this jacket has weird sleeves. Very wide. A little long but that doesn't bother me. Has a lot of extra fabric on the sleeves after I tighten the wrists.

This jacket is a must have. I have worn it on 40 degree windy days and 65 degree rainy days, and the protection is excellent. Absolutely no moisture gets through. The jacket also looks very stylish and sleek.

I bought this primarily because it's advertised as having pit vents. When I inspected the jacket there were no pit vents.

Bought this jacket because it's not uncommon for me to have to work 16 hour days in the pouring rain, and I wanted something completely waterproof...wet clothes suck! The very first day I wore this jacket, quite literally within two minutes I was absolutely soaked. Faulty seams/material, who knows! I would recommend that if you do buy this jacket, you test it right away! I would have MUCH rather return it than exchange it for a new one after a lengthy warranty process. Apparently they have had a few issues with these jackets, so I would probably avoid it, or test it right away. I must say, I'll almost certainly stay an Arcteryx man after this catastrophe.
