Bought this about 9 months ago and love it so mush for laying that I purchased a second. They look nice and don't make you hot.

TRANSPARENT! Be aware that no matter the color, this item is transparent. Completely see-through. A couple of reviews mentioned this, but not all reviews, so I think it bears repeating. I have not worn it in a high-mosquito area yet, so I don't know how well it will repel those pesky insects. I'll update this review if I get any bites. I will say that the styling is excellent, and I appreciate the light fabric. This is my 3rd BugsAway hoodie: two "modena" style and one that is more of a mesh or woven fabric. Both styles are lightweight which is essential, since you would only need such a garment when it's hot and mosquitoes are most likely. I am extremely comfortable in these no matter how hot and humid it is, and I can't stand to be hot. Hope this helps.

I was doing microbiology field work on the North Slope of Alaska and the mosquitoes were epic--requiring headnets and covering every surface. This performed excellently and was not too hot (the Arctic was 71 degrees!).

I have 4 of these hoodies and wear them all the time. They are so lightweight and great to layer. They are soft and comfortable and mine have lasted for years through lots of washings. I order new colors as they come out. I have bought them for my sisters who also rave about them!

I own three of these, which I primarily use for buggy evenings at home or abroad, most recently in Roatan. PRO: It is perfect to keep away the slight chill that comes after sunset in the summer. It's very soft and cozy, and can't be beat for pulling on after a long day scuba diving. It does an excellent job keeping the mosquitos and sand flies away. The hood is tight and stays put when up, and the fabric it's a little stretchy and very flattering. CONS: It is not great for water sports (I sometimes wear this kayaking) as it gets and stays soggy and takes a while to dry. I also find it stifling on hot, humid days (I like my Modena better in that weather) and would recommend it for evenings/nights only.

Love this hoody - the fabric is lightweight/super soft. Purchased a large because I wanted it very loose but medium would also have worked.

I have two different colors of this hoody and take them every time I travel. Fits perfectly and easy care. Good weight to layer up if needed.

As a daily dog walker, I'm happy now with a collection of these hoodies in several different colors. I use them as an under layer garment, knowing I'll always have pockets for essentials, long sleeves and a hood to keep out the wind, in addition to the insect shield. Very wearable!

I have had this hoody a few months and it has inspired me to buy more products from the BugsAway line. The hoody is lightweight which was great for travel and does keep the bugs away. The hoody fits true to size and looks great on.

I bought the bugsaway lumen hoody for a birding trip to Peru. I loved being able to apply less bug repellent due to the ample coverage and the effectiveness of the hoody. Even in high heat and humidity it was comfortable and breathed as well as could be expected in those conditions, and best of all: no bites!

I bought this a size bigger to wear over all my shirts and lightweight hoodies. I bought the teal green color. Love it!!

I originally bought this hoodie in 2015, and used it on numerous hiking trips in humid, hot Texas. It was nice to see nearly the same shirt for sale four years later, so I picked it up right away. The material is so light and great for hiking on hot or cool days, and layers really well. Definitely no insect problems while wearing it. Will be buying more in the future.

I love this top. I bought it to wear running but it's so lightweight and comfortable I even wear it to sleep in.

I have had one of these for years. Needless to day, it has been washed enough times for its bug protection to wear off, so I purchased 2 on clearance prior to this year's beach vacation. Mosquitos seem to flock to me, but with these hoodys, I can gain some respite from the bites. They feel good to wear and look good too!

Bought 2 of the bugs away lumen hoody just before a journey to Africa & Madagascar. I wanted to minimize those super annoying bites. I am so prone to being the one who comes away covered in bites. Well, either there were no biting insects in any of the 6 countries that we visited or the hoodies lived up to their claim. The feel of the fabric is super soft, I even said that they would be great to sleep in.

This shirt has been life changing! I didn't really expect it to actually keep the bugs off, but packed it for a camping trip in the humid, mosquito-infested Midwest. I was so ecstatic to see mosquitoes landing on my upper body before flying away...without biting me! The shirt is lightweight and very breathable (the fabric has little holes in it for amazing air flow), so it was perfect for camping in the midwest humidity. It kept me warm on cooler nights but I could still wear it in the mornings as it warmed back up. Only critique is that it is a little long on me, though my torso is on the average to short side. I'm 5'7" 135 lbs and a small fits comfortably, though an xsmall would likely work for a more fitted look. This is definitely a new go-to shirt for camping trips and I'll be looking for more bugsaway items in the future.

I love this hoodie for different reasons, first of all, of course is the fact that I have worn it in mosquito infested campsites and the mosquitos leave me alone:-) Another reason I have purchased 6 different Lumen Hoodies since 2013 is because the hoodie is lightweight, easy to match to leggings, shorts, jeans, etc. and it is very easy to care for. It's also a great quality material, I can say that all of my hoodies - including a white one - look like new! When backpacking, if I have to wash it, I know that it'll dry fast; at home I just throw it in the washer and can dry it by hanging it up or putting it in the dryer. I love the variety of colors that ExOfficio has come out with over the years for this hoodie. My hope is that they'll keep making it for years, because I'm pretty sure it's been a hit for them!

Got the Paprika Spice color, I think it is called, and just love it. Great fit, love the hidden pocket. This is very beathable..wore it recently on a hike on Mt Rainier NP. I'm 5'7 and 132 lbs..the medium fit perfectly!

I ordered this shirt in blue, which is a very pretty color in person. I first ordered a large, which is my usual size, but it was a bit snug. I returned for an extra-large, which is roomier and looks nice with leggings. The fabric is a bit see through so I wear a tank underneath. As always, excellent customer service from Zappos.

I bought two of the hoodies for a trip to Scotland. Not one bug bite. I now have 4 and use them tor biking, running and hiking. Love them.

I hike in wet, hot woods and clouds of insects are a fact of life. The BugsAway garments aren't 100% effective at keeping every single skeeter away, but boy howdy, they do make a difference. I like the snug but stretchy fit on this hoody, and the hood gives my neck extra bug & sun protection.

Bought this for a trip to Peru, great color and fit, and never got a bite while wearing it. Would purchase again.

Last year when they introduced the improved Lumen Hoody, I was skeptical. There was nothing wrong with the old design. Now I see why the "V-ed" out the neckline. The stitching on the older rounded neckline always made a tiny pucker where there shouldn't be one. They took the curve out of the kangaroo pocket opening and went with a straight seam pocket opening, making the pocket less obvious....safer, I imagine from pick-pockets. They also built in a secret zippered compartment inside the kangaroo pocket...great idea! You don't want money or passports slipping out accidentally. I noticed also that the bottom area around the hips seems a tiny bit more flared, and less clingy than the old design...best feature! Now I have to start collecting this style....why do you do this to me, ExOfficio!
