I feel that Stan Smiths have always been comfortable, fashionable, and understated classics but the cheap looking synthetic material and the painful tongue are a deal breaker for me. Who approved the changes and did they try them on before sending them out to production? I think it's ironic that many people are returning these shoes and worsening their ecological footprint.

Making a sneaker into plastic rather than it's original leather, you have lost me for good.
Closes shoe to adidas is Lacoste leather sneakers, as long as you don't mind the alligator logo on the side of the shoe, they look and feel great.

They look great and are comfortable, but are terrible quality. The rubber on the bottom of the sole is incredibly thin and wears out very fast (like a couple months, if that, just through everyday walking). To make things worse, the inside of the sole is constructed like a honeycomb, so hollow in a lot of spots, and there isn't another layer in between the top of the sole and rest of the shoe. That means if you step in even the tiniest of puddles after it rained, your feet are 100% getting wet, and speeds up general wear-and-tear.
I bought a second pair thinking it might be a one-off, and the sole wore in the same way, in the same amount of time. Very disappointing because I had a different pair of Adidas before that lasted for years, and were still usable with much more wear on the sole than the Stan Smiths.

The material does not seem to be leather, the soles are thin and the tongue a joke. I am an old guy I owned Stan Smith shoes, not even close

I loved the shoes but they arrived with dirty shoe laces. Not sure if I want to to go the trouble of returning or just washing the laces but disappointed that I could not wear them right away.

This vegan material is horrible. Pleather!! I've wanted a pair of Stan Smiths for years and finally got them. I was weary about the vegan material. Why take a classic shoe and ruin it with cheap man-made materials?? Ohhhh...i know!!! To make more money. Be better adidas. Last pair of these I buy unless they come in LEATHER again.

The materials used to manufacture these shoes feels like cheap garbage. The design fit is poor. While a commitment to the environment is admirable, what was once a nice shoe is now of very poor quality.

The recycled material gives a look to it that I don't like at all, I prefer the standard material.

Genuinely unfortunate. I have worn stan smiths for 15+ years - my go to every day shoe. However, the switch to vegan materials has made this shoe unwearable. Extremely loud squeaking and not nearly as comfortable or durable. As someone who has owned 10+ pairs of these shoes I can say that I will never buy another and am now looking for a new brand given that adidas is switching entirely to synthetic materials. It's just not the same, for real.

These new fake leather versions are terrible, shame on me, I didn't realize they are no longer leather when I purchased. Just awful, will never purchase again. If I could assign zero stars I would have.

I was absolutely disappointed by those shoes - I had a pair before and wanted to buy a new one. I was so upset to see its now done from plastic!!! And fir the sane price as before. Why not giving a choice to customers if they want a genuine leather product or something done from oil processing? Not even talking about awful look and feel of synthetic leather. Returned the shies and hope normal quality will go back.

I've been wearing Stan Smith in black for years, and this pair is so uncomfortable that I've started looking for alternatives. I'm all for sustainability but this upper material has no stretch that leather does, so after 6 month of wear they still feel very uncomfortable like a brand new pair. If you happen to have feet perfectly shaped for these and don't need the shoes to conform to your feet I guess you are lucky

The shoes are very nice looking but the fit is terrible. The material is VERY stiff and ended up giving me terrible blisters on the outer area under my ankle bone. I tried putting on thicker socks and wearing them / walking around the house to loosen / soften them up to no avail. Very sad because they are very nice looking from a purely visual perspective.

Looks very cheap. First, I wanted to return them right away to Asos but then I thought - okey, lets try them. Not comfortable at all! My previous adidas sneakers were in leather and they were perfect. Stan Smith Pimegreen is making noice then you are walking (like creaking). My legs are sweating, never happened before. I am very disapponted.

I've worn women's Stan Smiths for years and years. Went two years ago to buy a new pair, and found the tongue was huge in order accommodate a Stan Smith portrait - which was to commemorate a 50th anniversary. Hated the oversized tongue and the portrait, so decided to wait, thinking the portrait and oversized tongue would eventually go. Two years later, and the long, oversized - and uncomfortable - tongue and the portrait is still on the shoe, How much longer is Adidas going to keep the oversized tongue and the goofy portrait on this once great shoe?
