TL;DR: This shoe is a wide (E) version of the XA Pro 3d. It is not a normal (D) width. First off, let me clear up some confusion around Salomon's XA Pro 3d line, which was further compounded by Zappos. If you look at Salomon's website, you'll find that the XA Pro 3d M+ is a wider version of the regular XA Pro 3d. Any time you see the XA Pro 3d advertised in a wide (E) size, its actually the XA Pro 3d M+. Conversely, any time you see the XA Pro 3d M+ advertised in a normal (D) width, its effectively a wide (E). So let me set the record straight: The XA Pro 3d in a wide (E) and the XA Pro 3d M+ are the exact same shoe. Treat the M+ as a wide (E) shoe, regardless of what the vendor (in this case Zappos) says about the width. With that said, this is an outstanding shoe. I have somewhat wide feet (Usually a 13D in normal width shoes), and for years I've been on the hunt for a shoe that can be worn around town, for road running, trail running, and hiking. This shoe is it; size 12 (effectively a 12E) fits me great. Although its quite heavy by trail runner standards, its nevertheless substantially lighter than the GTX monsters of the XA Pro line, and I haven't been bothered by the weight. They do take a bit of time to break in. I've had hotspots on the outside edge of my foot and the heel, but they broke in after less than a month.

I bought this as a work shoe and use them everyday . They are good shoes but just a little too tight on the top of my foot and are a little hard to get off once I get them on .. I am buying the same size I always buy and I know Im not growing anymore since Im 66 years old .. Not sure what the problem is ..

outstanding shoe; one of the best and my favorite after extensive search. unfortunately, salomon's 'wide' isn't wide enough for my duckfeet. toes and to some extent metacarpals are still squished laterally. i had to return mine, sadly, for a bigger 'toe box' competitor. interestingly, all 4 other guys at the shoe store had the same issue! PLEASE make a bigger toe and MT box for us! I love salomon's products and it's a first go-to for me.

I'm 6'4" and have wide feet, wear a size 13, but had to get a 14 in this particular shoe. Also, the wide version could be wider. It's fine when walking, but when sitting - not standing, the material contracts and puts a lot of pressure on my pinky toe. Again, comfortable to walk in, but not as comfortable when sitting. Merrell's are definitely more comfortable shoe, but not as functional. My advice to the company is to make the toe box a little wider and more comfortable. The material used on the outer part of the toe area is thicker to protect toes, but it doesn't give/flex, so it restricts natural toe placement. The shoe looks great, and lacing system is nice, but just not comfortable to sit/relax in. I get they're for trail running, but I like to wear these with jeans while outside, and you're not always exercising 24/7, so would be nice to keep them on 24/7. Just saying...

Being a wider version of the classic XA Pro 3D, the M+ shares the same great feautures: ruggedness, stability, and comfort. This is the first shoe I've found that can do it all: hiking, trail running, road running, and everyday wear around town. The only problem is its a bit heavy (over 14oz), and after 8 months of heavy use I wore a hole above the heel, exposing the hard plastic underneath.

Very nice shoe. This shoe feels a little stiffer than others in the foot bridge area (not a bad thing just noticeable). I really like the quick pull/lace system but it is a tad long on right shoe and will touch the floor (doesn't go underneath shoe or make me trip but makes the feeling of an untied shoe lace on that foot). The mesh seems to allow your foot to stay cooler than most other similar branded shoes. I still like Merrell soles the best but these are pretty close.
I'd also recommend:
