I've had many pairs of Keens over the years, from work boots to hikers to office shoes. They've always fit well and been durable. Admittedly, I've been a bit skeptical about the "tennis shoe" Keens that have appeared the past several years. I even once ordered a pair and returned them - they were generally uncomfortable - too tight in the toe, no arch support, and eye-catchingly hideous. But in need of a light trail shoe, I tried again. And man, these things are awesome. For one, they fit. I wear a 13, and most other brands are too small, especially after an hour or so of walking. Not so with these. They actually fit well with light hiking socks, but they aren't too roomy and don't wiggle around. They were immediately tested over a few days in the Pisgah Forest, and there was no break-in period. They're super-sticky on rocks but still comfy at the brewery at the end of the day. They also don't have an aggressive tread, so they don't collect mud and are easy on the trail. They seem to indeed be waterproof - the tongue only opens on one side, and is a design I haven't seen before. Obviously I'm impressed - hopefully they prove to be durable and not too warm in the summertime. If you wear a 13 (or wish there such a thing as a 13-1/2) you should give these a shot. And Keen - if you're listening - why not build these in the US also?

BIg fan of Keens, pretty much the only brand of shoe I buy - past 8 years. BUT these shoes, are a HUGE disappointment. Keen clearly decided to favor style over function, here's why: the "tongue" is only one-side, e.g. it's an extension from the outer side of the shoe, so you can't move or adjust it. This means no flexibility at the front of your foot where foot and ankle meet; the shoe actually feels "lopsided" when on. Where most "tongues" are an independent part and free on both sides allowing you to move, adjust, and provides "give" at the top of your foot, the Versago styling of a one-sided tongue results in absolutely no give. Upshot - uncomfotable whether I'm walking, running, hiking, or doing Tai Chi, and no way to make a simple adjustment to create comfort.

A very light, breathable, comfortable shoe. I do like the integrated/wrap tongue.

Good shoe overall. However, due to having a bunion, these shoes pinched on my big toe and caused my foot to be swollen / in pain for the next 24 hours after running. There are other trail running shoes out there for sure but give Keens a try. I myself have now struck out twice with their shoes.
