Alas, I must join the comments that say Asics has somehow changed the toe box in their shoes and that they are suddenly smaller & tighter. Asics has been my go-to tennis shoes but this pair was uncomfortable from the moment I put them on. Thanks to Zappos' wonderful return policy I can return this pair and try another brand.

Shopping for a daily wearer, not an athletic shoe. This one has zero arch support, but delightful cushion. Removable insole makes room for better supporting insert.

I had never worn Asics before and even though I have a very narrow foot, I ordered these based on the numerous reviews that said these run narrow/small. While the width proved not to be the problem, I had to pull the laces rather tight, resulting in a clownish appearance. I just couldn't get past it. My toes also started to feel uncomfortable after wearing them around the house for a while. I'll be sending them back.

I have ordered Asics in the past and I was disappointed that the toe box on this recent pair is so narrow. I ordered a half size up and a wide width and they still felt tight. I am returning them.

This shoe runs very small - my daughter just moved into a women's size 8, and we ended up ordering the 8, 8.5, then finally the 9 to get it to fit. She is also an 'average' width and we had to get the wide.

Liked the way these shoes looked. The toe box felt a little snug. I have worn Asics for at least 10 years. Always have worn a size 10 medium. Bought the Fuze X Lyte 2 instead.

Still hitting my big toes. Pinching the heels in are good. Women with big, long feet still have small heels. Feel like, though, that my big toes are rubbing against the fabric. The pitch of the base of the shoe is downhill.

Too “normal” to be considered a wide shoe for me. Bunion and ganglion presses against the seam. Style is great, I like a low sneaker. Felt comfy otherwise.

Definitely order up 1/2 size. Width ok, even with bunions. BUT...very little to no arch support.

They are ok, not the most comfortable shoe.

Not a good fit for my wide 8.5 foot. I ordered six different types of W athletic shoes and ended up keeping the Ryka Dominion. It was wide enough and did not rub excessively on my heel.

I have worn Contend 3 in the past and loved them. But the Contend 4 is too narrow across the front of my foot. I ended up buying the GT 2000 which are wider across front of foot and toes.

First I really like the ASICS brand I have purchased in the past and have been very happy with their wide shoes. I ordered this style in Wide and is was not wide at all, so they are going back. I will try again with another style.

I love Asics Gel Contend shoes but the Contend 4 was somewhat different than my previous Contend sneakers. It had an extra stitched stripe right across where my bunion pops into the shoe. I tried the W to see if that would help and it was still a problem. I also found them to run smaller than my other Contend. I should have bought several pair of the earlier Contends before they changed it. It was not a change for the better for me. I sent them back.

This color is more bright orange than coral as pictured. The fit seems good first time I tried it but I will be returning it.

Have worn Asics forever. This was the first pair that was too narrow in the toe bed and too short overall. Very disappointed and am returning them.

these are very nice but they are sized wrong. have to return....

I wear a size 6 ordered a 7 and it was still too small. Returned for a 7 1/2. Also, very narrow. I ordered wide and it was extremely narrow.

I have worn other Asics styles and have thought them true to size, but these definitely ran small in the toe box. I'm sending them back. They are so cute, it's a shame.

Love the color, but not the fit. No arch support.

These shoes were too cushy for my plantar fasciitis. Liked the style. They felt ever so slightly too wide. Nike tends to fit me better for width, I guess.

As others have already stated, this is quite tight in the toe box area. I always order a wide but this is slightly tight in width, but more so from the footbed to the top of the shoe where the mesh is. Your foot and toes are pushed up against the top. Very bad engineering and design and although I am tempted to get a 1/2 size larger, that usually just means it will be longer but not create any more space for the toes.

I have a pair of Gel Contend 4 size 10 in the mint and white. They fit well and look nice so I wanted to get another pair with different colors. I bought this pair in the same size 10. When I tried them on they were about a half size too short. I held them up to my other Contend 4s and they are definitely a little bit shorter. I sent them back. Love the free return. I ended up buying another style because this shoe doesn't come in 10 1/2. I got the fuzeXLyte in a 10 1/2 and it is the same length as my other Asics shoes that are 10's. Asics shoes must all be smaller than than they used to be. I highly recommend buying a half size up from your old shoes. Too bad for me I did like the color blue of these shoes.
