Very comfortable shoe and does its job for casual or hiking uses. Being a confirmed fan of this shoe (already own a couple) and a sucker for the many great colors Arc'teryx turns out, I sprung for this shoe in Elk, but instead of an orangish tan with some oomph, it's a sallow color completely lacking in character. It says "Florida retirement community" more than "outdoor adventures," and, even though my age says I'm ready for the former, I say, "Not today!"

Great shoe. Extremely comfortable. I just use mine for everyday purposes. Surprisingly handsome shoe, too! One caveat: the photo for the Camargh is misleading. This is a green shoe. It's a soft, light, moss-like green, but it's definitely green, not close to tan as the photo suggests.

The Acrux SL is a really comfortable shoe and is great just for wearing around. I know it has a more specific purpose, but it's just a great shoe. The suede version is very sharp looking, too.

I've been wearing the Arakys, which I love, but decided to get a shoe with a little bit more upper structure. These shoes are comfortable out of the box, have amazing grip and the suede only needs to be brushed for cleaning. The shoe has just the right amount of stiffness. They look great so can be used daily.

I adore most everything about this shoe. Its overall structure allows for a fairly neutral stance and some really good ground feel -- I like wearing them even when doing the technical footwork of stacking wood or moving brush in dense undergrowth. And because of the medium-thick leather and strong toe cap, my feet also feel more protected in these than they would in a regular running shoe. I'm of the mind that the approach shoe genre is the most versatile type of shoe out there, and this is by far the best approach shoe I've used yet. That said, you do want to consider where you'll use these. If you're mostly on rock, then the flat-toe pad is great, as it provides incredible friction. What you lose with that toe smearing pad, however, is *traction.* Living in Vermont, I want to take this shoe on bushwacking scrambles through all types of forests in the valley floors and in the lush uplands, not just on the rocky trails higher in our mountains. When in those places, however, and especially when climbing steeper slopes of fields or forest floors, you can really notice that there are no lugs on those toes, so you often end up slipping backward just a little with many of your steepest steps. Not a huge deal once, but over and over it becomes a pretty clear waste of energy, and at times can just feel frustrating (especially when you realize that your trail runner wouldn't be doing this). SO: hey Arcteryx, can you guys make this *exact same shoe* but with a *trail runner outsole* ? That would be the best shoe ever for us here in the Northeast, and heck, probably for you guys in the lush forests of the Pacific North Wet! But in the meantime, wow, this is a shoe worth every dollar if it's the right shoe for your needs.

First day usage impressions: + Everyday casual/sporty: office use, combined with blue jeans + Very light, fit is great for my narrow foot + Inside heel seem to be skin instead of fabric, will be interesting to see how this will improve wear (my heels eats shoe linings...) + Modern look, colleagues spotted my Porto red shoe at once +/- Flexible sole, can be both good and bad depending on usage + Possibility to choose with/without goretex, I prefer without + Sizing chart works well, I just used foot length and ordered online, and it is perfect/true to size

Bought these mainly for bike commuting since the sole is "stiffish", but comfortable enough to walk in all day. I have been on rides of 40 miles with these matched up with aggressively lugged platform pedals. These shoes stick to the pedals with no slippage at all, plus I don't feel any soreness, pressure, or numbness while riding. I was going to save them just for commuting but now find myself wearing them to work on casual days and around town. At work I'm on my feet all day and they feel great. I tried numerous other shoes but have a hard time finding any that are comfortable. I just happened to try them on in a store while on vacation, loved them, and ordered a pair as soon as I got home. Aesthetically, I like that they don't look like sneakers or skate shoes. My shoe sizes are as follows as a guide: Running shoes 12 EE or 13 Dress shoes 12 I got these in a 12 and a 13-sent the 12 back and kept the 13. Due to my foot width they were slightly tight on the first day, but by the second day the lacing system and the leather upper conformed the shoe to my foot . They are now my favorite pair of shoes . I may get another pair to keep in reserve since I like them so much.

Straight out of the box I took these on class 2-4 scrambling on the lower slopes of Tahquitz and was immediately impressed by the simplicity, flexibility, and traction I was getting. So two days later I led The Trough (5.4, three pitches) on Tahquitz in them. This is probably beyond what they're technically designed for, but they performed perfectly on several hundred feet of class 4 and low class 5 terrain. Equally importantly they were very comfortable on a several mile approach/descent with 25lb pack. Best of all they showed no sign of wear on the rubber despite a fairly severe workout, boding well for durability. Unlike several other items of Arc'teryx footwear which I have found fairly narrow in the forefront (I have wide hobbit feet), these approach shoes fit well on a variety of foot shapes, including mine. This is one reason I went with the leather, so they may mould better to my foot shape over time. Incidentally I sized down a half size (compared my normal shoe size, if there is such a thing) to improve sensitivity for technical climbing. Nevertheless they are still plenty comfy for multi-mile approaches.

Love this shoe, right out of the box. It fits snugly without pressing too hard in any area of my foot. Good with socks or without. Wish there were even more colors.

I've been wearing these shoes for ~7 months now. I love the laces and the inner compartment for your foot. I think the shoe has a great design. When putting the shoes on, it is definitely possible to pull TOO hard on the loops. Luckily, I stopped when I started to hear them tear, but be wary when you put them on.

I have had these shoes for about 2 years and absolutely love them. I also had the first generation burly accrux shoe and I also have the non-leather model (I know, I am sold on arc teryx). These shoes were super comfortable from the first day and remain so after two years of normal use (day hikes, day to day city shoe, no bouldering or climbing). I have high foot arches and wear orthotics and these are one of the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned thanks to the tongue free design. I will likely buy another pair when I am done with these which I don't think will be any time soon. IMPROVEMENTS The stitches on the rear pull loop gave up within the first year. Perhaps having a longer one that goes back all the way down in the sole would prevent that from happening. they can be hot, especially during the summer, so some kind of aeration would be nice. not sure if it's just my pair, but they squeak all the time! I got use to it.

Why no size 12? I found these very short in length normally take an 11 but even in the 11.5? i can feel my big toe in the end. 12.5 too large and loose a good heal fit, 12 would be ideal but that size is skipped, odd considering the small sizing.

These shoes are nearly perfect in my books except for one glaring issue: the stiffness in the shoespecifically in the inner sidewall of the heeljust doesn't break in. Every time I step there's a slight pressure point on my inside heels, which by the end of the day leaves them tingling and numb. I never thought I had particularly oddly shaped feet as I've never had this issue with any other shoe before. So out of concern for my feet, I'll be trying out a few new insoles, or potentially giving these away to someone hopefully luckier than I am.

It's a good looking and comfortable shoe once you get it on. The way the tongue and liner are all one piece you almost need a shoe horn to cram your foot in. Also, the color of the shoe in real life is more of an olive brown, not the cocoa brown in the online photo. That was a bit of a disappointment.
I'd also recommend:

This shoe checked all the boxes for me in terms of design they're beautifully made, lightweight, sturdy, and the footbed shape worked well for my feet. But I unfortunately have to find another shoe, which is super frustrating given the price of these. After each of maybe 6 or 7 hikes, probably < 40 miles total, I had extreme heel blistering. I don't think this was attributable to break-in, but rather the unconventional heel cup design, which consists of two firm rectangular pads with sharp edges. I tried different socks each time, but bottom line the pads are so firm and with such defined edges that they just rubbed my heels raw no matter what.
