While these shoes were designed for trail running, I've misappropriated them for cycling. I have another pair of Salomon Goretex runners and these are far more effective at keeping my feet dry in foul weather, but these shoes are not "water-proof." The liner eventually becomes saturated. Also the shoe is not especially breathable (as expected) so these shoes may not be a good choice in warm weather. Be sure to dress for the weather. I don't find these shoes particularly attractive. That's just my personal opinion. I feel a little bit like George Costanza in his Gore-Tex scene. These shoes are the best choice for foul-weather cycling that I've found so far, but far from perfect.

I first tried the Acrux Fl GTX. It was overall a great shoe let down by a design flaw. The flaw - the cut of the shoe at the ankle. The contour causes the shoe to press against the ankle bone. Doesn't seem bad at first but after 3 or 4 miles it starts to hurt and just gets worse from there.. went to the Norvan GTX as it seemed like a softer material and after trying in store seemed OK. However, after about 4 miles it started to aggregate my ankles. No reason the profile of the shoe needs to rise at the point it does. It is a low running shoe. Never had this problem with any other brand of trail running shoe and I have been trail running for 15 years. Shop carefully. If you feel any contact at your ankle bones don't buy!

Got this shoes and after 42 days traveling. My feet in pain and blisters on different spots in each foot. The size is smaller than it says. It's comfortable to wear it at beginning and at the end. The shoes just going to get you in pain. You need to get extra larger size for this shoes. In the middle of trip. I was so regret to travel with this pair. Bad news.. I even got three pairs ... I bought another pair for a senior to wear. He was in great pain just try to put them on. It's very difficult to get in. Too bad.

Used these a few great weeks, then the outside mesh broke on both shoes. It broke right where the attachment point to narrow down the front of the shoe is placed. Underneath, between the ouside material and the inner sock there are several straps which connect the shoelace tie-in points with the sole of the shoe. The strap which should have connected the point to narrow the front of the shoe was not attached to the sole like all the other straps, which is perhaps why the shoes lost their shape and the mesh broke. I had expected a little more durabilty, esspecially since all the other products I have from Arc'teryx are so good...
