Excellent! Vivobarefoot got this shoe right. Although it is not 100% waterproof you wouldn't know it. My feet stayed warm and dry hiking on snowy, slushy and muddy trails for miles. The extra rubber layers on the outside also make using these with micro spikes super. The spikes stay put and the rubberized outer parts add stiffness in the right places so the shoe won't collapse under the tension of the micro spikes. On previous models like the trail freaks the tension of the spikes would cause the shoe to collapse too much on your foot which made things uncomfortable after long runs or hikes. Somehow the material these are made out of lets your foot breath really well but does an excellent job of not letting water in from the outside. I purposely hiked through muddy puddles and slush and my feet never got wet. Pretty awesome. Also, the soft ground sole is very grippy and doesn't pick up rocks like the older off road sole.
