My feet have been cold before. It happens to all of us. Recently, however, I've moved into a region where the negatives outnumber the positives, and on a thermometer, that adds up to a cold winter: the coldest I've ever seen in fact. I remember thinking at one point that my toes may actually fall off. After some friends recommended I up my sock game, and recommended Smartwool in particular, I figured I'd give it a shot, and if the socks didn't work, happily return them, as I'm notoriously frugal. Fast forward a few weeks, and I can say these socks are everything I was looking for. Do my feet still get cold? Of course they do. When it's -12 out, nothing short of magic can really keep you toasty. But dancing on the edge of frostbite does a real number on your toes, and I'm happy to say it's no longer part of my routine. Few things are as satisfying as knowing your money was spent exactly as intended and in the best way possible.

Bought these to replace Thorlos for daily wear. I need a heavily padded sock due to some foot problems related to too many birthdays. These give me the cushioning I need and they are not too hot hiking in the Texas summer. I'm a serious foot sweater and these socks wick/evaporate the dampness well.

I love these socks. They are my house "slippers". They are warm, comfy and easy to wear on carpet, tile and hardwood. And unlike regular house slippers they are breathable and my feet do not get hot and sweaty like regular slippers.

Super comfortable, Thick and warm. Easily my favorite socks. Not quite as heavy as the mountaineering socks, so still suitable for slippers, or those cold linoleum floors, as well as the usual hikes, or even bike rides.

Great for cool Sept Mornings.

I bought these for my wife who wears a woman'w size 10 shoe. She ALWAYS has cold feet and just recently had knee replacement surgery. A lot of swelling in that foot post-op. These fit her well, have plenty of "give" and keep her feet warm. She had a single pair that she acquired as a gift and the 3 extra pairs make life a little easier for her during recovery.

My local camp and pack outfitter recommended these to me for backpacking ten years ago. Now it's the only socks I buy period. I wear year round. I always buy fresh pairs when I go backpacking and never wear liners. For working 50-60 hours a week in steel toe boots. I have nine pairs in rotation and some hav lasted me years. I don't know what the recommended washing instructions are but I machine wash mine and then hang dry inside out.

I have had several pair of these and I love them. They don't slide down and they last a long time.
