First boot style from Altra is good but not great. I appreciate the wide toe box that is carried over from the running shoe lines, but the sole needs to be changed to match the style of the upper. It's built on the same sole as the Torin, which works for a running shoe but not so much for a Desert Boot. There is little support, I felt my feet pronating in these, and the stack height is too high, both for comfort and looks. The boot also gets hot very quickly and stays that way. The color ways are a bit odd as well, but as bad styling has become sort of endemic to the Altra brand, this doesn't surprise me. Sending these back, but hopefully the next iteration of these has some improvements.

I loved the softness of the boot, but for me the flexibility meant lack of support around my ankle and heel. I am a woman trying to wear men's shoes because of sizing, so that may be the problem. Otherwise, cool boots

Color Taupe. These are the most comfortable shoes that I own. They are like what I would imagine walking barefoot on a cloud would be. I now have a total of five different pair of Altra shoes including the Everyday Instinct. I prefer these over the Everyday Instinct …and my klarks originals (with a c) gum-sole desert boots don’t even approach the comfort of these. The Altra Desert Boot is very lightweight, so they pack well. They look good with kakis or blue jeans. I recommend you go one/half to a full size bigger than your usual shoe size. Now with all of that said, zero drop is not for everyone …including me. I slip a pair of Dr. Scholl’s P.R.O. ¾ length heel pads under the removable foot beds. They provide about 5mm heel lift. Perfect!

This shoe is awesome. Wear it to work and church all the time. My only complaint is that the Taupe get's dirty very easily. Putting a suede protector on it is something to consider. Something as simple as the rain can make them look dirty. I also have the black pair....no complaints there. Haven't had to put a protector on them yet and they look great. Such a comfortable, stylish shoe.

I've been wearing Altra shoes since I discovered them three years ago. The color is true to the image shown. The comfort level is spot on. I wear 12.5 with this shoe. My foot size is 12. My toes are stretched out with no rubbing on the shoe. They're wide. They don't squeeze my foot(I have a wide, square foot). You look and feel good wearing the shoe. It's too bad Altra isn't sold everywhere like foot-torturing shoe brands. I'm sure you know who I'm referring to if you're smart enough to buy Altra brand shoes.

I wear a size 12 in the Altra Instinct (which I love!) but the size 12 in the Altra Desert Boot was a bit too large. The size 11 1/2 fits perfectly. I wear a size 12 1/2 in the Altra Torin 3.0. I have no idea which of those is sized accurately, but when I find the one that fits right, I love it.

Good fit. More sole/padding that most zero drop shoes. My new favorite

I have to bring my own arch supports to this party, but you'd expect that in a zero drop (no slope from the heel height to the ball of the foot) shoe. Altra shoes don't supply a lot of support because their customer base doesn't want a lot of support. If you are looking for a wide toe box and a snug heel, and slipper-like comfort, these deliver.

Bleh. Not horrible looking but not stylish. Outsole not flexible. But I returned it because the toebox, while wide, was not wide enough and not comfortable. It was also SUPER hot and sweaty. Not worth the money.

Advertised as a zero drop footbed but there was in fact an arch in the shoe. Interesting concept but the materials of this shoe is cheaply made. My job requires me to stand and move around and these shoes do are not designed to wick away pespiration. After work I took the shoes off and my feet were clammy and sweaty. There is also too much foam on the sole of the shoe and I found myself landing awkwardly on my ankles while jumping steps. I was not happy with this purchase and sent them back to zappos warehouse.
