These shoes were magic to my 3 year old nephew. His parents were very frustrated when he refused to wear shoes because they were all so tight on his very wide, but "claustrophobic" feet. He loved them right away and was so excited to be able to put them on himself with no pain. Even 6 months later, he thanks me for his "favorite shoes" every time I see him. New Balance wide shoes for the win!

I've gotten a pair of these before. I love the velcro strap, which makes it easy for my 2 year old to put on and take off easily. Great support and very light weight. They've held up well with a busy kid, who is really rough on shoes. I'd recommend for sure.

We are on our second pair of these shoes and love them! They hold up really well we just had to go up a size, hence the second pair.

My boys have wide feet, and we've had the best luck with New Balance and Saucony. These are great for my 3 year old; he can get them on easily, and they are durable. It was a great purchase, especially having a little bit of a discount.:)

My son usually wears W or XW in stride rite, but for some reason, even the XW stride rite styles we recently tried on were too narrow. This New Balance shoe in XW was the only thing we could find that was wide enough! And it's really cute and sturdy, too. Of note, another New Balance style we tried on in XW was more narrow (the KJ990v4 style).

These are the ONLY sneakers I've found that fit my toddlers chubby extra wide feet. We tried on every shoe at stride rite and nothing fit! Decided to try these new balances and they are so awesome. The quality is fantastic, the fit is great and they look adorable. For reference, we ordered the same size stride rite measured him at and they were perfect.

I've bought 6 pairs of these over the last 18 months for my twins. LOVE that they come in a wide width. There seems to be no "break-in period" whenever we size up -- the boys are off and running again with no complaints or stumbles. These aren't quite as washable as Tsukihoshis, but to compensate, they seem to repel dirt better/longer in the first place. I love that Zappos always seems to have in stock the right colors, sizes, and widths. We'll keep buying these for the kids' workhorse sneakers until they tell us to stop.

I tried many different shoes for my newly-walking one year old and these are the clear winners -- comfortable for his little feet (as evidenced by the fact that he gets up and happy toddles off as soon as they're on his feet!); so easy to get on and off (unlike many other brands); for older kids I'd imagine the Velcro makes it super easy for kids to get them on/off themselves. We will definitely be purchasing these in larger sizes as he grows. As always, Zappos was amazing - easy to order on the mobile app & overnight delivery - cannot be beat!

These shoes are fantastic! They are durable and supportive for little feet! My 2-year old can put them on and take them off on his own. I like that they come in extra wide for my little guy's BIG feet! We will buy the same pair when he grows out of these.

Love these shoes for my 2 year old! Easy to get on and off. My son has always been an XW in Saucony and stride rite, but the XW in New Balance was much too wide. Returned for a W and they were perfect.

Finally! Shoes that fit my son's super-wide feet! I think we've tried a dozen other pairs. They are cute, comfortable and fit well. And best of all, they are easy to get on my toddler's feet. We'll continue to buy these in bigger sizes as he grows.

These shoes are great looking and great quality. I needed extra wide, so I'm happy to have found some I like.

Love these shoes! My sons feet are so chubby so the wide are one of the few shoes that give him the room he needs. Made well. We keep moving until min size with these as he grows. They run large. Highly recommend!

My son needs XW in hook and look with Velcro closure, so these were a Godsend and I am already going to buy the next size up in whatever color I can get my hands on because these have worked so well for him. He has not ripped these 888's yet and is a very active four year old riding tricycles and scooters everyday, walking the trails along our greenbelt, and running around the playground daily at his summer camp. What I really appreciate is how secure the shoes stays on his foot because the Velcro strap is long enough. Just sent back a pair of 990v's because the Velcro strap was too short to close securely enough. So, if your child has a chubby foot/Flintstone toes with a high instep the 888's may work better than the redesigned 990's.

These shoes are very wide and run about a half size larger than marked.

We have had great luck with the NB 990 style in XW for our very wide-footed 2 year old. I was disappointed this time that I was unable to find his size in the version that works for us. I saw these, and thought that they couldn't be that different. Boy, was I wrong! The strap will barely close over the top of my son's foot. They are just not wide enough. I still can't find the 990s, so we are again searching for shoes that work for us.

Unfortunately, the quality is poor. Our son's pair had holes in the toe area of both shoes within 3 weeks. If your child plays outside, these are not the shoes to buy.
