Back of shoe comes up very high on the back of the ankle. Walking in them for a few minutes rubbed my ankle raw (blood).

Everything is good about this casual shoe. Great comfort and impressive looks. The sole is too thick and rugged to where to a professional office, and the walk is a little odd since the cork footbed does not really flex, but if you can overlook those, it's a good shoe.

Great shoe. Does not fit like the other stuff because it is a real shoe. Very well made. Comfortable right out of box. That is first for me with Birks.

Holy **** these are great shoes

This shoe is both dressy and casual. Narrow shoe strings (kind of feel like they're waxed). Nice traction--sole is improved from other recent Birk shoes. Foot bed isn't quite as supportive as Birk sandals. Overall, a nice shoe. I do wish Birkenstock would add another wider width. Narrow, regular, and WIDE please!

Ecco Track II low runs small. Order a size larger. Jim has worn a similar Ecco pair for 9 years and it's time to replace them. His favorite shoes of all time- except the Ecco boots which are getting old, too. The old Eccos were size 45 but needs a 46 now- although he's still wearing those 45s. Ordered a 45 a few years ago and he wore them so had to give them away. Top contenders are Naot Denali, also order a size larger and Birkenstock Gilford- which is a BEAUTIFUL brown color and true-to-size. Says these Birkis have the largest toe bed he's ever tried on and he liked that feature if you need it. The bottoms of these shoes look really nice, too. Seem to have good traction. Perfect to flex casual or kind of dressy.

Great looking shoe - I like the old Munson style shoe look, leather is real nice too. Better than most other lace up Birks - no toe bar in the footbed, which is smart because its always a little off in the oxfords. I agree to size up from your sandals, however this caused one problem for me - the arch sat too far forward on my foot. Still comfortable, but doesn't fit like the sandal. I passed for this reason, $200 is too much for shoes that don't fit quite like I want. I'll keep trying birkenstock oxfords, and I will keep them when the support feels exactly like the sandal.

These shoes are really well made (in Portugal) and of lovely leather, but the style is a little meh. Also, I guess it's true that you should order enclosed Birkenstocks one size larger than sandals, because my usual size for sandals was way too tight in this shoe.
