I ordered one size up for my son because I wasn't sure how much room the lining would take up and also because kids grow like crazy and I wanted them to last through winter. They were a perfect fit with a little room to grow but still fit properly. He also wears them with the strap so they would be a tad loose if not but that isn't a concern for him.

My boys loved them. They have a playroom in the basement and refuse to wear socks in the winter. These keep their feet cozy and warm.
