I have flat, narrow feet and normally wear a size 11 which causes a difficult fit with many shoes. I have been wearing Keen Daytona's for many years which fit comfortably and held up quite well. Given that experience, I decided to try the Keen Rialto H2 since I wanted a similar sandal with a closed toe. I'm very glad I did since the Rialtos are a great fit (ordered 1/2 size up) and very comfortable (even better than the Daytonas). Keen has done an impressive job engineering the Rialto and they appear to be well constructed with high quality materials.

I have worn several different styles of Keen sandals over the years. Although the Rialtos are not as flexible and comfortable right out of the box, they have much more support and my feet feel much better at the end of the day. I have high arches and plantars fasciitis. I have not worn them in the mountains, but given their firm support, I expect these sandals would be great for warm weather day hikes in the Blue Ridge. They should be able to handle rocky paths that really beat up my feet unless I wear sturdy hiking shoes.
I'd also recommend:

These sandals are so incredibly comfortable! Lots of support and fusion underfoot with lots of stability in the sole and lacing. Would recommend these highly as a comfortable and functional sandal (and made in US!). I have had great success with Keen over the years.

Perfect fit for my size 9. Comfortable for walking with good support. Adjustable heel strap allows easy on/off. I have ordered many pairs of shoes from Zappos and have never been disappointed.

I purchased this model for my husband hoping that they would fit. He has a wide foot and has had a pair of KEEN Newports for years and the sole finally cracked. However all of the Newport's that he has tried on were all too narrow. With the back opening on the Rialto, we were hoping that they would allow him to slide his foot in and they would fit. But, they were still too narrow for him. The shoe is nice quality and well made with the removable footbed liner. Unfortunately, they were went back. That is the only reason I rated them with 4 stars instead of 5.

I bought the Rialto's to replace my Keen Newport H2's as well. The Rialto has a removable foam footbed and an adjustable heel strap that makes running and hiking in these so much more comfortable than the Newports. As others have said they are also a bit more snug and a tad heavier as well to make them more durable. However taking them through streams, rivers and to the beach can be a problem. The footbed has to be removed (it's secured by velcro) to be washed and dried. If you don't wash these properly (as well as the interior neoprene) this sandal will begin to stink. It also has a lip around the footbed which can catch and hold small pebbles and sand. So the whole sandal has to be cleaned out as well so it's not as practical as the Newports for swimming and treks through standing water. So the Rialto is great as a walking, hiking or boating sandal but the Newport is a better water or rafting sandal because you can just hose those down.

Great shoe, unless you have a high instep. For me there wasn't enough stretch to accommodate my foot, and they don't make these in wide.

This is my second pair of Keen Sandals. My first pair was Newport when they first came out and still wear them and love them. I needed a second pair for another home so I went with these Rialto H2's this time. I like the new improvements such as the foam padding, the red color scheme. I have mixed opinion on the Velcro strap. I thought I would like the Velcro strap feature (over the elastic strap in Newport sandals) but I don't...But that is just my two cents. Everything else is GREAT though (just as the older Newport sandals). I get alot of compliments on these sandals, they are very comfortable, I would definitely these or the Newports again. My Newport sandals have been through alot (several years of Texas heat, serious sweat, some trekking, ...Just about anything) and still going strong (no tears, nothing peeling off). When I first found Keen Sandals (when they first came out with the Newport ), my first though was yes these are kind of expensive sure... But Zappos offers 365 day period so I figured I would try them atleast. Having owned them now, I definitely feel they are worth the price. I know it is just a sandal but there has been some serious R&D (and good materials) put into these and it shows once you wear them on a regular basis. No frustrating semi sharp edges on inside anywhere, they fit perfect (which is strange because it is almost as if they are made custom for your feet). I like to believe you get what you pay for (not always but most of the time). If you can afford them, buy these Keen Rialtos or Newports. You will not be disappointed.

These are super comfortable sandals. Everything about them is excellent with one exception, only moderate to little arch support. My feet require something with good arch support, and these just did not have it. Moderate arch support AT BEST is all I can conclude. If you need something for good arch support, look elsewhere. Still, as comfortable as they were, it was a great disappointment to have to return them. I hope Keen will make something similar with better arch support.

This is a comfortable sandal. There are only two minor things I've noticed in the few days I've had them. One is that the cord, when adjusted to fit snug around my foot, is kind of long and flaps around. So, I ended up looping it through the pull tab. The other thing is that for a sandal is covers a lot of my foot. Usually, I like sandals to allow more air to flow through. This sandal is closer to a shoe with some air holes. But, having said that, I do like them, they are very comfortable! I feel like I could walk miles without an issue though I have not tried that yet.

I wish I could wear these shoes, but the strap stitching is a bit rough and wears down my heel. I've gotten blisters several times on heel after long walks. I got a replacement which had same issue. I guess they're just not for me :( Otherwise I love them

Keen stopped making the basic firm bedded sandals that work for me. This is another strikout.
