I ordered a bunch of sneakers for our five year-old, and these were the clear winner: they were easy for him to take on and off, fit him properly (we ordered the wide--so hard to find cute sneakers in a wide size!), and are sturdy enough to last until he outgrows them!

I bought these for my son. The color is lovely. He has worn them everyday since day one. He chooses to wear these over his other sneakers. They seem comfortable. A great fit!

These are excellent quality, comparable to an off shelf orthotic for stability and arch support. They fit like a light weight tennis shoe, and are perfect for an every day school/play shoe. The hiking boot look is just esthetics.

Both our 4 & 5 year olds have had foot and walking balance issues. Our occupational therapist advised they be fitted with orthotics to provide more support. Our last shoes were saucony tennis shoes which we thought were good, but these Merrell's offer the arch support and stability of an off shelf orthotic without the Forrest Gump look. My boys are active and the saucony tennis shoes were totally worn out in 4 months. This shoe is MUCH better made, and are built to last. They are pricey, but with these shoes you are getting your money's worth. We never knew how important good fitting children's shoes are until my son fell and cracked his front tooth in half. That is the price we paid for putting price over quality. I highily reccomend these shoes for any child's precious feet. If you are looking for an every day school and play shoe, these do fit like tennis shoes, and are appropriately light weight. The hiking boot appearance is just esthetics. These are perfect for every day.

Bought these for my 9 yo son. They have lasted several months and still look great. I love the red on black. My son loves them and chooses them over others sneakers. Excellent sneaker.

We love these shoes for my son's fairly wide and growing feet. We live in the water sandals in the summertime and these are perfect for non-rainy days here in SF. I think he wants the same pair the next time he's due for shoes.

These are awesome. My son wears them at the park, in the backyard and on hikes. Very durable.

We have been buying Keen shoes for my son but decided to try a different brand. These Merrell shoes look sharp and have held up great so far. We have had them 2 1/2 months and only use them for school but he plays in the sand on the playground 3x a day and they still look brand new despite being filled with sand daily. My son can easily put them on by himself and seem very comfortable.

My son tried them on and loved them. He's 7. The style is good, colors are modern and hip. Overall a 5. Fits true to size, they could be a little wider, but just a bit.

My grandson loves these shoes. They're true to size. He loves the color also. These are his second pair. I haven't gone wrong with these shoes.

This is the 2nd trail chaser that my 10yo daughter has ordered. She loves these shoes! Her foot was measured as a 2 1/2, but we ordered a size 3. It fits her v well with some room to grow into. I love the Velcro strap -easy and quick to get her shoes on in the morning!

Great shoe for my son at school. My son loved the colors, as well. Shipping was fast.

My son loves these shoes - I just ordered him his third pair (because his feet keep growing). However, I did have to order the new pair sooner than I had planned since the velcro started to fall off of the velcro strap on one of the shoes. That said, these are the only shoes my son wears and he plays hard, so they do get a lot of use. I did expect the velcro to last a little longer, even with that said, since they are Merrell's and Merrell's are made for hiking, rugged play, etc.
