Just moved the Midwest from the west coast. Never have lived in snow. These boots are my first pair of boots ever so I don't know much about other boots but I was looking for something that kept my feet warm and dry. These do! The Artic Grip does work like it advertises. The other reviewer might have some defects because mine grip like crazy. I commute to work in these boots in West Michigan and have to walk across this really wet sidewalk every day. Well, now it's ice and snow. I first walked across it in my safety work boots that are slip resistant and still felt unstable. With these boots I can walk across it like it's cement. No big deal. My feet have been completely dry in them walking through snow on a farm. The first night they seemed pretty cold but I realized I was wearing thin cotton socks (like I said... new to the Midwest). Once I put on some real winter socks (shoutout to smartwool) my feet were perfectly warm for hours being in the snow. All in all I think they were a great purchase!

Purchased for a trip to Canada but have also been great for TN. Not to hot, they are comfortable, great for snow and mud.

I wanted a comfortable boot with the best available traction, following a bad fall on ice which resulted in a shredded rotator cuff and surgery. I purchased the Sperry Cold Bay Vibram Artic Duck boots this winter after reading the test results of the Canadian government ice tests on more than 90 models of snow boots. The Sperry boots were in the top 10% of boots having the best traction. I have worn the boots on two ski trips this season to the high Sierras in California. The boots have kept my feet warm and dry down to temperatures 8 degrees Fahrenheit. The traction on ice and snow is simply outstanding. The boots are light weight and very comfortable. Normally I wear a size 12 shoe and I purchased the size 13 boot. On a six hour drive from home in Southern California to the mountains, I did find that the boot was a bit too warm. They are really designed to be worn in cold weather. Also, the boots do not have much of an arch support, but this was not a problem for me walking around town. I am very pleased with the boots and can recommend them for the confidence they provide on ice and their comfortable fit. Also, they are nice looking boots.

Do you plan to offer these again this year? The vibram soles are by far my favourite of all the boots I've owned. Didn't slip at all last year and normally I slip often regardless of the brand I purchase. I deal with a lot of city ice in Canada. The vibram soles and the comfort of the boots combined made this pair my favorite so far. 10.5 is out of stock unfortunately. My only criticism is the felt type material at the top of the boot wears off easy and you end up with holes. Otherwise, this is the first pair of winter boots I've ever liked and the vibram soles were a big factor. I really want them again. Thanks

I was looking for a durable and comfortable boot for my daily winter walks. I am an avid walker who unfortunately suffers from Planter Faciitus. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and durable these are and how much cushioning they provide. Last week was very cold for this area, minus 30 with the wind chill. These boots kept my feet warm for the entire 3-4 mile walks. I would definitely recommend these and I have not been given any incentives for this review.

I know Sperry boots are very well made but I didn't like it because the boot is very heavy.

The shoe seems to be okay with slippery ice but they're not very warm. Do not rely on these boots in really cold weather. There's no soft/warm lining inside. They appear to be more suitable as rain boots.

These lasted less than a year of light use. They're not my main boots. There's a cut-out on the back of the boot to aid in pulling them on. It ripped right up the back. The boots also get pretty cold, and they are not breathable so your feet get cold, and begin to seat, then they get colder. The Arctic Grip is pretty decent, but for the price, they should have been a lot better, and should have been way more durable.

I bought these for wearing around town during winter in an area with many freeze thaw cycles between Dec to May so was intrigued by the vibram soles. I like the looks of the boot and they are fairly comfortable. The vibram sole seems to work as well or slightly better on ice than prior boots I've owned. These boots scored low for two main design flaws. 1) the boot has no strap or pull point. Instead you must pull on a thin piece of felt on the upper. After wearing the boot a half dozen times, my thumb poked a hole right through the felt. 2) the tongue doesn't appear to be sealed. Any bit of snow that gets on the top of my foot ends up melts, running down the tongue and leaving me with wet socks. Definitely hasn't lived up to the waterproof billing

I bought this boot for the Vibram Arctic Grip and I was pleased at the results. You still need to be mindful when around ice, but the grip does perform better than most boots. The boot looks good and feels good. But a two star rating because the fabric at the top of the boot falls apart quite easily. Somewhere between my 10-12 wear of the boots, I put my thumb completely between the material and now there is a thumb sized hole in the top of the boot. I'm not sure exactly how to avoid the tear. It was caused by needing to grip the back of the boot in order to squeeze my foot inside. On cold days with heavy wool socks, you need to grab the back of the boot to get your foot in. There's no strap on the back to grab onto, so you end up grabbing the fabric and apparently that fabric is quite quick to give. I've tried wearing them 4-5 times since and tried to be extremely careful in what I grab to get my foot in the boot, but I'm slowly making the hole bigger. Ignoring that there is a hole in my boot, it's getting big to the point that I don't think I'm going to be able to wear them much longer since the hole will completely tear through and just become a huge rip instead.

As the previous reviewer indicated, these are not warm even with heavy weight merino wool socks and they are not water proof. They also absorb moisture from your foot and release back to make your foot cold and clammy. The grips are no better than average duck boot in sub zero conditions. The Vibram grip is more of a gimmick than a functional feature. I really wanted them to be good for Ottawa winters; but they're not. Very overpriced for the feature that are being offered. Though, they do look nice and fit well for me in a 12.

I have had my boots for a year now and I only used them in the winter. So when I pulled them out this year I found that the rubber tips are starting to crack. The boots are not very warm so I have to use warm socks but they put the Artic grip on it that's not amazing but is nice and better that shoes. I think a warmer boot with a good rubber bottom would be better. Plus for using them only 4 months out of the year I don't think the rubber tips should be cracking.

Bought these boots two months ago for occasional use in bad weather. I chose them after seeing online they were judged by a third party as having the best grip in icy conditions. After light usage I am very dissatisfied. The boots are average for traction. I have already fallen once on an icy surface that was completely level. I was hurrying so I take the blame but subsequently I have lost my footing under normal winter conditions too! For traction they are roughly on par with a pair of dress boots I own. They are not warm boots either, offering inadequate insulation at zero Celsius even with thermal socks. The last straw was yesterday when I stepped in a three inch deep puddle. Two minutes later my socks were wet. The water entered around the sole and wet my socks to an unacceptable degree. I would not rely on this product for anything other than the mildest conditions.

I should have expected the technology to NOT WORK. I recently slipped using the ANTI SLIP technology, but fell and did a number on my wrist. I knew I shouldn't have trusted the ANTI SLIP claim. Shame on you Vibram, you continually market false technology. I smell another $ lawsuit.

I was immensely disappointed in the outsold function of this shoe. I was wearing on an icey surface and there was no grip, as promised. Vibrams technology did not work, don't fall for their false claims. It's a garbage idea, don't be fooled like I was.
