These shoes are amazing! Fit perfect right out of the box. I have very wide feet (4E) so I was a little skeptical at first, but after reading from others about the wide toe box I gave them a try. They are plenty wide and very comfortable.

I loved everything about the shoe EXCEPT the laces - they cut the laces so short - despite the fact that they a locking elastic style lace - that a shoe horn is needed to protect the heels of socks from excessive wear. I buy mens shoes for heavy outdoor use in order to have room for a thicker winter sock (they're tougher and wear better as well). so the shoe's roomy with a regular sock, but still too snug with the short lace to be a convenient slip on. Solution, I bought new laces at Amazon.

These shoes check a lot of boxes for me. First, they are assembled in the USA, which is very rare and has been rare for decades except very high-end shoes for men (and a few NB models). Second, they are wide, despite being sold as medium width. Keen has real problems with width consistency: if you measure the widest part of the sole of a Size 10 Targhee II, for example, it is 4 inches. The same is true of Voyageur. Keen refuses to make either in EE widths. But the Rialto Traveler sold as "medium" has a sole that is 4-11/16ths inches wide (and I could cite other Keen models in that range, all at or above 4-3/8). I know exterior width is not exactly the same as interior width, but I find it a reliable proxy. Third, the Rialto Traveler is svelte (says my wife). Fourth, I like the fact that it comes with elastic shoestrings; I have replaced other Keen hiking shoestrings with elastics, so this saves me the time. What's not to like?

I love the feel and quality of these shoes. They remind me of my old Keen Voyageurs. The black ones are my favorite Keens in terms of looks, too. Keen doesn't offer many non-dress shoes in all black; I wish there were more. The ones I have seem to be an earlier model where the wavy line that runs along the side of the sole is a very dark gray, almost black--I like this better than the lighter gray one pictured here. I replaced the elastic pulls with regular laces. Laces work much better for my feet and any tightness issues with the elastic system is resolved. Overall, great shoes. I really hope Keen (and Zappos) keep them around!

I got these just before my trip to Japan. Actually they were the only pair of shoes I brought. They were great hiking around Yakushima and pretty much everywhere else too. They kept my feet dry for the most part, although my feet tend to sweat a lot and these get really hot due to the waterproofing. Super easy to take off and on when entering shrines or dwellings. Oh and getting though airport security was a little easier too. They are very technical looking though and while they went great with trekking pants, they looked really out of place with jeans. Also, I wish they had just a little more support or cushion. We walked a LOT in Japan and by the end of the day, my dogs were barking! So don't expect the same level of comfort you would get in a nice trail runner or light hiker. I get them 5 starts for functionality but they lose points on comfort and style

I read the only other review before I wrote mine. It might as well have been my review too. I really like these shoes. The convenience of slipping them on is great. I bought them in a 1/2 size larger which may contribute the the wide feeling, but I'm very pleased with the length. My only gripe with the shoes is the same as the previous reviewer; the fastener does not hold well. You can tighten it, but it loosens very quickly and easily thus is it mostly useless to tighten it in the first place.

Very comfortable, albeit a little wide feeling. With narrow feet and a wider toe box, these feel a little loose. The lace cincher comes loose often which is very annoying. Might replace with regular laces, which will help with loose feel. But they look an and feel great otherwise.

Sporty... everything elastic!

This is my third pair of Keens and the only pair I'm very disappointed with. These shoes do not have regular laces. In their place, they have pull straps and a little tensioners that slide down to keep the shoes tight on your feet. Within about 3 weeks, the tensioners started to lose their grip. For months I lived with re-tightening the straps 20-30 times a day. Just last week, the straps also finally broke. Very disappointed.

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of Keens, and especially this quick lace system. I have multiple other keens with it and love it. However, there is a defect in the one used on this shoe. It doesn't stay locked tight AT ALL, and immediately loosens first step. You can actually grab it by its sides once locked and just slide it back and fourth at will. Epic fail. These are defective. I feel like they bought a cheap shipment of these and got ripped off. I called Keen and they said this is the first they heard of this. Really? The previous two reviews on here tell me I am not alone and this is a product wide issue instead of a one off lemon. I love the shoe otherwise and am sorry they have to go back. The shoes don't work as shoes.
